They expect her to do the right thing but she does not and then they try to pacify her --buy a chair or worry she will jump off balcony (both I think was Anu). It is just a broken relationship and so much fear.

What are we going to say to Bua and Dadi and everyone else… I bet your MIL has already texted Bua”...this has to be Anu

Worry about what if her MIL says she doesn’t want anything to do with mathurs altogether and she ends both marriages... Akash I assume.

This tells it all..worry about the world. If a marriage can be broken off due to one stupid action then maybe it is good that it is broken.

Ra reaction I assume he is tired of Naina and the middle class rant. You build on a new fragile relationship not poison it everyday with your sister antics. But Of course Vi will not realize and somehow it will be Ra who would be the bad guy next time they meet or talk

Well said Shradha.

Raanav is right when he tells Viveka not to let their families come in between them all the time.

I do agree that behaviors of people around us affect us, but then if the marriage is only built on what happens around and not what happens between them, then maybe better to call quits on such a marriage.

Viveka can see how her own parent's marriage has survived and thrived irrespective of Dadi or Garima or Savi and other's behaviours towards Anu or their family.

As a reader, I can say that I don't know anything about Inder and as a character of this story, I do not care much for him. Maybe that is the reason I have never thought much about him.

Frankly, I do not even care for Naina any more. I tried a lot to understand her, feel any kind of empathy for her, but her actions have always triggered anger and disgust in me.

Maybe the only reason I bother about Naina is because her actions have always impacted Anu, Akash, Viveka and Raanav lives and feel sorry for all these people, particularly as parents Anu and Akash do not deserve this from their own child.

But if you ask me about Inder, then he, Naina and looks like his friends too, are all a bunch of idiots.

I feel sorry for Viren too for having an irresponsible son like Inder.

Hey! I'm not sure if this is the right way or the way the author sees it.. but I have my own understanding about Viveka's behaviour!

She keeps saying she married Raanav for Satyen's sake because essentially, that is just what she did!

Raanav told her he loved her. I'm not sure if she did too, but I'm sure she told him that she's emotionally involved, won't be able to walk away from or let go of the marriage!!

Inspite of all of that, they broke up. Because of Naina and their personal hangups, yeah, but they did break up. None contacted the other, even in the face of Satyen's accident! If not for him, whether they would've reconnected would be anybody's guess..

They got married because they felt it'd help him recover. With an understanding that either could walk away from the marriage when he does...

So now, Satyen has still not recovered. Smrita, Naina and Inder are all up with their antics. Viveka doesn't believe much has changed in her husband's opinions, and to some extent, it really hasn't.

I don't know if either of them would've married someone else on Satyen's insistence. But it's just that inspite of everything, their love/attraction/admiration couldn't get them married. His dad's health did. On their bad days, it's the only thing holding them up! Whenever they fight, he still expects she'd care for Satyen and she genuinely does..

So is it really wrong to say what she does?

Riding elephants

“How was your day?” he asked quietly

She was out in the balcony now after fiddling with the lock opening and now shutting it behind her

“I heard Naina and Inder exchanged vows while in Dubai “ she blurted it out and held her breath

Her tears flowed freely

She sniffled

“Tumne jo baat kahi middle class ko lekar who sach ho gayi” she laughed weakly

He just hung up

She went back into the house heartbroken

She hadn’t meant to joke like that she was just nervous of him finding out Naina was exactly like he had predicted in their first meeting.

She texted him again

“Did you phone die?”

“Why?”

“Raa..”

“Go to bed” he ordered

He was already dealing with his father insulting him about his judgemental behavior and how it had encouraged his Mum

Satyen had no clue why Viveka and him had married, or for what reason

He had used it to “lure” viveka into a marriage she was very likely to agree to

They had officially broken up after he had proposed to her originally

The class difference was the elephant in the room

He wanted to forget about it to get Viveka to agree

He had used his Dad’s health condition

She was married to him now… but everything could never be hunky dory

Naina and Inder had rode the elephant back into the room

Now his wife was using Naina’s prank marriage. Vow exchange to remind him of his not so proud behavior from the past.

He had definitely not changed 100%, but Viveka mattered to him enough to be hopping mad at her now

He really did not know how happy he was with the stunt Inder and Naina had pulled while in Dubai

He had not heard about it until Rakshit had texted him earlier in the day after hearing about Inder’s soap opera like drama in Lisbon

Viveka went back into her room

“What did he say?”

“Baat nahi ho paayi he was busy” she mumbled

“Ma was not in the room

Ma returned with a heavily guilty looking Naina

Viveka and Naina looked at each other

“Did she tell you guys?” Naina growled

“Shaadi aapki hui beta aap batao” Akash folded his arms across his chest and smiled at Naina inviting her to sit in one of the chairs by the wall

Viveka go t up to go through her glass book case

“Barah baj rahe hain raat ko dad”

“Main Papa hoon aapka”

“Ma bolted the door on the inside and went and lay down on Viveka’s bed and shut her eyes

“Papa…. I am sorry I should have told you it was a prank, I have broken up with him, Veev knows what is going on”

“Break up bolne se shaadi nahi toot ti beta, Nupur Dhamija ne apne bete ke rishte ki baat ki, just like female leads do in Hindi movies us mahashay ne apni Ma ko keh diya hamari biwi to Rohini mein hain”

Naina cringed

Viveka looked at her Papa hiding her amusement, she had never really told him anything about how it was all revealed, but he had spun a good story

Ma sat up

“This is very very shameful for us, we have a daughter that has married into the same family, do you even understand what it means?”

“Why? Is Raanav divorcing her because Veev’s sister did something foolish”

“Khair abhi taq to nahi” Akash tried to frighten Naina

“And you think I AM the problem? “This man is willing to drop your daughter like a hot potato for a stupid thing his cousin did while in Dubai? I mean shouldn’t you be mad at Raanav?”

“Baat uski nahi ho rahi Naina”

“I am sorry I should have told you but I didn’t, his friends were there, they one of them had some internet , sorry he ordained online and got a license and he just stupidly read off a website and we both stupidly agreed”

“India mein aisi baatein main pehli baar sun raha hoon” Akash was astonished

“It was JOKE Papa”

“No beta its not…. Subah Bua ko pata lag jaayega, who waha tamasha kar raha hai that he needs to divorce u first”

“Oh those WEALTHY people need ME now?” Naina realized she could give it back to the family that had insulted her for so long

“Tumhe is poori kahani mein se yeh baat samajh aayi?” Anu got off the bed hissing marching toward her

“Who cares for what you do when its not serious why cant he marry who his darling mummy chooses for him, he cannot scare me like this”

“Nobody is scaring you, WE are scared beta, this is shameful

“WHY? Papa?”

“You married him and you don’t even know why How about that for a reason”

“Help” Naina begged moving her lips and looking at Viveka

She sat down and lowered her gaze

“Papahh”

“Shushhhhhh” Akash turned around and warned her

“Inder can say what he wants I have broken up” Naina stood up

“BAITHO” Anu ordered and Naina slinked

I want to feel bad for Naina… I genuinely do.. but with her nonchalant behaviour to her parents she is making it hard.

Naina irrespective of whatever has happened before, they are your parents and they have the right to know about your life. Not Inder’s but YOURS! 🙄

Inder and Naina randomly just hooked up in some party, took off on a vacation to Jaipur, had unprotected s*x without bothering about the kind of consequences it could lead to, broke up as his aunt forced him to, hooked up again as she constantly pestered him to, eloped, had some kind of fake marriage by reading some vows presided by some other idiot, then were forced to return home, had a lot of hook up-break up drama and finally "broke up". Now suddenly Inder remembers that he had a fake marriage and cannot marry anyone else?

I never thought I would say this but I am feeling sorry for Nupur today.

Nupur might be a mean, selfish and greedy person to the outside world but she is still a mother and she loves her son.

No parent, be it the Mathurs or Dhamijas deserve such kind of stress from their children.

Even after all this drama, Naina has no remorse for her actions and still thinks that the whole world including her parents and sister have been unfair to her.

For Raanav, his internal battles are huge. Will he fight this battle for himself, his wife and his marriage?

I think these two idiots, Naina and Inder deserve each other! I hope they'll repent or what they did to their families.

Even now Naina is trying to get Viveka to share the burden ("Viv knows", when just some time back she was blaming her), I feel sorry for Viveka that she has to support such a sister. She broke up with a man she was in love with for what Naina and Inder did. Because she felt her sister and family deserved some respect. I hope this forces her to take off the blinkers where Naina is concerned.

I feel for Viveka. What she told Naina about her marriage was the unvarnished truth as crude as it is. They married for Satyen, with the caveat they could walk away from it when he is better. She had also asked an important question then to her father; would Raanav have done the same if it was her father in Satyen's place? The answer I don't have a doubt, would be a big no, I don't think he would've agreed. She has more to lose from this than any one. Not just the trust of her parents, but her own self respect.

“Shaadi aapki hui beta aap batao” Akash folded his arms across his chest and smiled at Naina

Uff Uff!! 🙈🙈 just can't imagine having a parent ask you to explain your runaway marriage to a guy they probably hate the mention of!

I think I'd have lost my speech faculties!! Naina can still be her remorseless accusing self.. wow!

Inspite of the serious situation going on, two parts made me smile and then grin!

Naina and Inder had rode the elephant back into the room

“Nupur Dhamija ne apne bete ke rishte ki baat ki, just like female leads do in Hindi movies us mahashay ne apni Ma ko keh diya hamari biwi to Rohini mein hain”🤣🤣

Akash often does this.. picks up on something humorous in the most serious of situations! 😆

It's so relatable to me.. my mind comes up with the most ridiculous of ideas in such grave situations, but then thank God for mental dialogues to be held with our selves😳

I just don't understand Naina..

She can see little beyond herself, her entitlement and how she was wronged, or that how she's above reproach in the entire mess!

She promptly pulls in Viveka to share responsibility, wants her to help.. it's very common among siblings, don't we grow up having each other's back!

But then how does she explain her refusal to even be kind to any of her sister's peace overtures, refusal to share anything with her or the constant shaming/taunts she subjects her to! 😒

But the worst part is that at times I feel she WANTS Viveka to be dumped and shunned by her husband and his family. She makes such thoughtless comments, constantly looking for a wound that could satisfy her, maybe? 💔 😭
