Agitated angel

“I don’t want you going into people’s houses” he growled in suppressed anger, as the car hurtled towards home

Here is what happened

Akash was back home in Rohini after picking up Naina and Bauji from the hospital after Bauji’s pre op check up

There was no way he could get to Saket in 30 minutes, by Metro or by car

In panic he ended up calling Piyush who was expected to be at the GK jewelry store that day, Piyush had left early to be in the Pitampura store since Kamalji had to return home to oversee arrangements for the son’s in-laws’ dinner tonight

There was no one in the vicinity Akash could rely on, he did not call Anu, her BP was low this morning after a spat with Dadi over where damp clothes, she had sat down in front of the mirror to tie her hair and when she got up, she felt dizzy

Akash called Viveka immediately and then reluctantly texted Satyen

“Sir aap busy hain?”

Satyen had called him

He knew his friend would not be calling him in the middle of the day just for nothing

“Kahiye, milenge chai par?”

“Bache kaise hain?” Akash enquired with a smile

“Sab theek, Raanav gaye hain Singapore, he left a couple? Days ago, he is due back today… the 4th?”

“Oh.. NY waale din gaye?”

“Haan… aapki beti aapko mil jaati hai jab Raanav bahar jaate hain to”

Akash laughed

Viveka had started coming home when Raanav was out of town

Best for everyone, instead of insisting she needed company

She realized she was not going to ever get used if she frequently took off like that

But with less than a month since the wedding, nobody was complaining

“Ek baat kehni thi”

“Jee boliye” Satyen asked patiently

“Pata nahi baat kya hui hai, Veev ke NGO partner ne text kiya mujhe aur kaha ki who Saket SHO ke office mein hai, koi NGO worker ka domestic dispute hai”

Satyen got up from his chair and walked over to the conference room window

He was in Gurgaon today

He panicked

“WHO kyon gayin?”

“Ek koi Ratna Dogra hain unke saath partner hain unka text aaya hai mere paas”

“Haan haan Mr Nahar ke thru main mila hoon shayad” Satyen exclaimed rubbing his eyes

“Aap ke koi contact hain?”

“Kya baat kar di aapne” “Hmm…. (Sigh) Hmmm” “Ek second mein call karta hoon main”

He called Rajeev Syal after excusing himself from the conference room

Rajeev appeared with a worried look

“Everything OK sir?”

“Viveka is in Saket, at the PS, can you check? Can you keep it confidential?”

Raanav’s text popped in at that moment

“Is Viveka teaching today?” he asked his Dad

“I think she was going to Shahpur Jat beta”

“Hmm”

“I spoke with her in the morning”

“K?”

Raanav wondered why his Dad was over explaining

“how was ur flight?”

“the same” he sent his Dad a smiley

“Biwi ki yaad aa rahi hai?”

“Can u blame me?”

Satyen sent many laughing faces

Then after pacing the hallway outside the conference room he called Raanav

“Are you headed home,?”

“Yeah right at Mehrauli”

“Hmm”

Satyen concluded he was going to get to Viveka faster

“She had some situation with one of the NGO craftsmen”

“What situation” Raanav asked with special emphasis on situation

“I don’t know much but Ratna Dogra had texted Mr Mathur”

“Whoa?”

“Umm.. he got a text, can you go to Saket right now?”

“Happy to” he said and muted the phone and told the driver

“Is Mr Rathi with her?”

“she is at her parents’ did you know? Do you guys even talk?” Satyen laughed but he worried asking that question

“You sound like Mom”

“I will take that as a compliment” Satyen chuckled

“I told her specifically Rathi will be with her in Rohini,” Raanav was irritated

“Umm.. maybe I don’t know” Satyen shrugged

Raanav texted Viveka

No response

“Let me go sort this thing out”

“I can call the DCP South, or CP but I don’t want it to get out”

“Uh..”

Raanav hung up midway

He arrived in Saket PS in 20 minutes, Rajeev Syal arrived in 50 minutes on a Metro

Before Rajeev arrived…

TUM?” Viveka’s eyes lit up with gratitude when she spotted the Parashar kid in the doorway

He was dressed in work clothes, maybe he just got to the airport after the meeting

His tie knot was a few cms lower

“Aap kaun ho bhaisaab?” Atwal stood up to question

“Raanav Parashar, her husband” raanav extended his hand politely

“Aapki wife ne apne karamchari ko chot pahunchayi hai”

“Whatt?” Raanav took a second to digest that pure hindi

Pihu stood in a corner crying Suhani’s eyes lit up knowingly as she saw Raanav

Ishwar had gone back to the work room to bring some papers about the Maurya show

Ratna was outside in the gully taking a call

“Raanav… he hit his wife, I saw him do that and shoved him with a pillow I thought that was hard as a plank” she blurted nervously

He wanted to punch the cop and gather her in his arms and just fly home

She looked lost and vulnerable

Wearing a dark maroon saree paired with a turquoise mirrorwork blouse, she looked unpretentious as always but deeply troubled this afternoon

“Its fine” he whispered standing by her

“Ek to na aap, accused ke saath mat khade raho” Atwal ordered

“Umm… main lawyer hoon aisa koi law nahi hai”

“Vaqeel ho to aap kagaj dikha do jara”

Raanav opened his wallet and pulled out the Bar Council of India ID and the Indian Association of Lawyers ID

“Parashar naam hai thara?”

The cop scanned the ID and looked at him

“Magar yeh to MATHUR haingi”

“Haan” Raanav nodded patiently

He wanted to strike the guy

“Court ka kaam hai bhaisaab… aapki bife ne eka admi par haath uthaya hai”

“Where is he?”

“Hindi mein baat karo aap”

“Kidhar hai?”

“Andar baitha rakha hai…. Oye laa re bahar”

Pihu began crying

“Nahi maarega” Viveka voiced her support for Pihu

“Arey who is liye ro rahi hai ke usko chot aayi hai aapke maarne se”

“HE hit her” “Is aadmi ne maara usko”

“Madam aap par case challah ai”

“Vi” Raanav growled at his wife asking her to shut up

She swallowed realizing the cop was needling her

Babu came out with a bruise on his right temple

When Viveka had smacked him with the hard pillow like thing, he had temporarily lost footing and had bumped into a shelf jutting out of the wall, the corner had tore his skin

“Case ke liye lautkar aana padega

“Who is pressing charges the man or his wife?” He turned to his wife

“Aap yaha baat nahi kar sakte” Atwal shouted

“Who Viveka?”

“I don’t know his wife just got here, I think it’s the guy” she sounded upset

Rajeev Syal appeared

“Ma’am”

“Sir”

“Tu kone hai bhai?”

Atwal looked at the youngish Sikh man and cackled

Rajeev explained who he was

“Is aadmi ko chot aayi hai, kaun dega ilaaj ke paise, oopar se kanoon kanoon hoti hai”

“Jee sir” Rajeev nodded politely

“Aana to padega lautkar” Atwal was gleeful

“Who hum dekh lenge”

Rajeev reviewed documents with Raanav

Raanav signed for Viveka, Viveka had to sigh as well

“Iska ilaaj hua hai thane mein, paise kaun bharega?”

Atwal challenged Raanav

“Kitna doon?”

“Yahi… umm.. Atwal looked at Babu, eyed his cronies sitting around and mumbled a figure

“This is absolutely outrageous, “the bandage looks soiled” Viveka lamented

Rajeev paid a wad of cash

Ratna returned, Ishwar did too with more papers

Nothing was needed at that moment

“Home?” Raanav asked Viveka

“Hmm”

“Mera laptop” she squeaked, running back inside to grab her leather tote

She turned around

“Aaj to ghar bhej do Pihu ko, aap log bhi jao, main kal subah aati hoon, main rukoon lock up karne ke liye?”

“Nahi you just go na?” Ratna reassured hugging Viveka

Viveka introed Ishwar and her again to Rajeev and Raanav

“Can you figure out whats going on?” Raanav requested Rajeev

“You don’t even have to say it” Rajeev nodded somberly

Raanav walked with them back to the work room

Viveka wrapped up, and closed up for the night

He waited patiently outside, leaning on the dirt wall

Texting Satyen and Akash to let them know all was well

They rode home

“I don’t want you going into people’s houses” he growled

“I went to bring the samples she was holding on to” she mumbled looking out the window

Raanav cursed Babu looking out his window

“Mujhe lene aaye?” she said turning to him still looking very much distraught

Kya bola hamara banda? Timing return ki ekdum sahi thi. Biwi ke liye hazeer hain janaab. Loved it. And he knows she is vulnerable.

Raanav should have given one big chamaat to that arrogant Atwal, but of course the lawyer in him would never allow him to do that. I believe a case will be filed against Vi. Maybe the ever efficient Rajeev will manage to keep it under wraps by throwing some more cash at Atwal. But I do hope that Atwal gets his due soon.

I am so glad that it was Raanav who came to the PS. Vi appeared so endearing when she asked "Mujhe lene aaye?". To see his badass wife in such a distraught and vulnerable state must have pulled at Raanav's heart strings too. I wonder what effect this incident will have on their relationship?

Atwal just wanted to milk some money from Viveka.

Corrupt cop and nothing shocking about it at all.

I hope this case just dies down and does not avalanche into any kind of controversy. And Satyen pulls some strings and teach this Atwal a good lesson.

People like Babu get away because of cops like Atwal.

Raanav running to help his wife out and his concern for her was nice to read. Viv was relived too seeing Parashar kid at the police station.

So Raanav left for Singapore on NY day. And he was away for 3 days.

What happened to the new year gift he was supposed to give her? Has he still not given it to her?

Raanav is right when he said that Viv should go along with Rajitji even when she is at her Maika. Better to be safe.

Ek dum mast timing Pati ka, yesterday you threw a googly with this police incident Nisha.

Do these two text or talk with each when Raanav was in Singapore? Did Viveka know that Raanav was coming home today, or think how the Parashar family would react? Will Akash have a talk about this with Vivekaa. She was doing the right thing, but maybe she has to realize how any such incidents might reflect on her sasural who are high profile and newsworthy people. Unfortunately India is filled with such kind of people like Atwal.

Why is Viveka asking “muje lene aaye?” It seems she doesn’t trust Rannav at all. She thinks he doesn’t cate die her since it’s a marriage of convenience. I don’t get it. Hope she starts seeing that he genuinely cares for her.

I love how logical and believable it was that Pa contacted Satyen and then he in turn contacted Vi's lawyer hubby to bring the angel home

Coming to the update. Ra knows the law and also the system..but he needed to get Vi out of there. So rather than arguing about what is right and wrong - he complied gave money demanded by SHO for treatment of Babu's injury in jail.

Raanav intial reaction of protection "She looked lost and vulnerable" was natural.

So was his reaction when she was out of that hell hole

It is not just about helping the financially challenged..it is also working with the corrupt system and cultural mindset. Wonder if Babu filed a complaint because he thought he could extract money from Vi or was upset that someone (a woman) intervened while he was hitting his wife or was it both.

Anyway if Vi wants to continue to run her NGO she has to follow few rules/protocols for if nothing else but for her own safety and peace of mind of her well wishers

So there will be a conversation with Satyen and Vi ...after some time ?
