Part-15

The following morning, Sujal and Kashish were having breakfast as usual, when Vinit Chachu walks in to the dining room, his suitcase in his hand and a smile on his face. Sujal and Kashish look towards him in shock, Sujal choking on his coffee whilst Kashish passes him a glass of water

Sujal: Vinit chachu...aap...achanak...what a surprise

He gets up and walks to him giving him a hug whilst Kashish walks towards him, bending down to touch his feet. Vinit blesses her with a smile placing his hands on her head

Vinit: agar mein batake aata to surprise kaise deta....aur yeh priceless reactions dekhne ko thodi na milte...

Kashish: aisi koi baat nahi hai...wake me aapko dekh ke bahot hi achcha laga...

Sujal: haan chachu...sach mein...we are pleasantly surprised. Aap aaiye na..baithiye..hum bas breakfast kar rahe thay...aap bhi hume join kijiye...

Vinit: its ok beta...tum log apna kar lo...tab tak main fresh hoke aata hoon...

Kashish: thik hai chachu aap fresh ho jaiye main breakfast ka intezaam karti hoon..

Sujal: theek hai chachu...aap apna samaan rehne dijiye...mein aapki room mein bhijwa deta hoon.

Vinit smiles and then heads upstairs whilst Sujal arranges for his luggage to be transferred. Sujal looks at Kashish as they settled down in their seats. Sujal looked worried whilst lost in his thoughts regarding how he will control his drinking habits for the next few days, he had no time to prepare

When Kashish walks back clearing the table, she looks towards Sujal who gets up picking up his laptop bag.

Sujal: i have a meeting so i am going to the office, agar chachu ko kuch zaroorat ho tho mujhe call kar dena

Kashish: don’t worry about him...main sambhal lungi...tum apni meeting pe dhyan rakho...sham ko dinner pe wait karenge..

Sujal: hmmm..okay see you in the evening.

Sujal gets up and leaves from there heading to the office whilst Kashish sets the table again for Vinit Chachu's breakfast whilst watching him head out. She walked back in the kitchen to check on the food....

It was almost lunch time and Sujal had finished his meeting, he was sat in his office smoking a cigarette whilst he was lost in thoughts. He saw his mobile on the desk and picked it up as he dialled Kashish. Kashish who was preparing lunch saw that Sujal was calling, she answered the call

Kashish: haan Sujal... kuch kaam tha...

Sujal: haan woh...actually maine tumhe isliye call kiya...kyunki mein soch raha tha ke mein kuch din thak hotel mein ruk jaatha hoon...jab thak chachu yahin par rehte hain...Vinit chachu ko meri drinking habits bilkul bhi pasand nahin hain..tho mein koi risk nahin lena chahta...

Kashish: what...have you lost your mind...woh hamare saath kuch waqt bitana chahte hain aur tum ho ki unse durr bhag rahe ho...tumhe kuch to sochna chahiye..have you gone crazy..

Sujal: maine jo socha hai woh bilkul sahi hai...i mean i can't sleep if i dont have a few drinks...i can't handle not drinking for so many days

Kashish: I have warned you a month ago... tumhe pata tha ki vinit chachu aa rahe hai..you should have prepared yourself....woh ghar pe aaye hai aur tum bahar rehne ki baat kar rahe ho... woh puchenge to main kya jawab dungi...

Sujal: tum kuch bhi bahana bana lena...just tell him i had to leave for a business meeting which was really important

Kashish: don’t forget he is your uncle not mine... jaise tum ja sakte ho main to definitely ja sakti hoon...i am also moving in with Aawa...how about that...

Sujal sighs in frustration

Sujal: okay fine...ill come back home in the evening..tumhe kahin jaane ki zaroorat nahin

Kashish: fine...we will be waiting for dinner...

Sujal: okay..ill see you later..bye

Sujal disconnects the call as he settles back in his seat. He had no choice but to go home in the evening. He sighed in frustration trying not to think about it and grabbing a file to distract himself

It was afternoon and Kashish and Vinit were having coffee in the lounge after finishing their lunch.

Vinit: thank you for your hospitality Kashish beta...khaana bohat hi acha tha...Papa tumhe bohat yaad kar rahe thay...maine unse poocha tha aane ke liye lekin aaj kal unki tabiyat kuch theek nahin hai tho woh travelling nahin kar pa rahe...par haan woh keh rahe thay ke woh bohat jald aaenge tum dono se milne

Kashish: agar woh aate to muje aur bhi achcha lagta...ek bar woh yaha aa jaye phir main unki aisi dekh bhal karungi ki woh jaldi se thik ho jaye...aur aap mujse bade hai...aap muje thanks kaho yeh achcha nahi lagta...aap ka mere pe hakk banta hai..aapko muje request nahi order karna chahiye...

Vinit smiles at her with admiration

Vinit: jaantha hoon beta...lekin phir bhi tumhe itna sab kuch banane ki zaroorat nahin thi..Sujal is a lucky man, usko acha khaana khaane ko mil raha hai...waise uska bartaav ab pehle se behtar hai?

Kashish: kafi had tak behtar hai...i guess woh baki ke Garewals ki tarah bante ja raha hai....one thing i know for sure is that Garewals are big hearted people..

Vinit: tho hume bahu bhi tho bilkul aise milli hai jo bilkul humari tarah hai...actually we have been lucky...pehle Seema bhabhi aur ab tum...dono ka dil hum sab se bhi barra hai

Kashish: hmm...lekin itne bade family me do bahu to kam hai...ek aur bhi honi chahiye thi...ek baat puchu agar aap bura mat mano to...aapne kyun kabhi shaadi nahi ki..

Vinit just looks at Kashish, his expression changing to that of pain as he recalled the bitter memories of his past

Vinit: nahin burra maan ne waali baat nahin hai beta..actually jis ladki se mein mohobbat karta tha..uski shaadi kissi aur se hogayi thi...aur uske baad mein uski jagah kissi aur ko de nahin paya...

Kashish: aise kaise kisi aur se shadi karli...kya woh aapse pyaar nahi karti thi....kya usne aapse kabhi baat nahi ki...itni bhi kya narazgi..

Vinit: nahin beta galti uski nahin thi...meri thi...mein usse dil hi dil mein pyar karta raha lekin kabhi keh nahin paaya...meri galti ki wajah se meri zindagi kissi aur ki amanat hogayi...tab jo galti mujhse hui usse tho mein badal nahin sakta...haan tumse zaroor kahunga ke jo galti maine ki hai woh tum kabhi math karna...sachi mohobbat sirf aik hi baar hoti hai...aur mohobbat dil mein chupane waali cheez nahin hai..usse zaahir bhi karna padta hai...yeh na ho ke tum bhi meri tarah kal tanhaai mein apni zindagi bita do...aur tanhaai mein zindagi guzaarna bohat hi muhskil hai....

Kashish: hmm...

She looks at him and thought to herself what he meant by his words because he knew all about her contract marriage leaving her confused...

Vinit: kya hua beta...kahan kho gayi tum...kahin tum meri baaton se pareshaan tho nahin ho

Kashish: nahi kuch nahi...woh bas aise hi kuch soch rahi thi...anyway..yeh dekho baton baton me coffee bhi khatam ho gayi...aap jake rest kijiye...main yeh mugs rakh ke thodi dair ke liye market ja rahi hoon..

Vinit: theek hai beta...coffee ke liye thank you...mein thodi dair araam kar leta hoon..tum market se ho aao

Vinit gets up and leaves for his room whilst Kashish sat there for a moment longer...brushing her thoughts aside she got up and headed to the kitchen with the mugs and after washing up she headed towards the market...

It was now evening time, Sujal had returned from the office and after getting changed he walked down in to the dining room where Kashish and Vinit were sat waiting for him for dinner. Vinit hugs him with a smile as he settles down beside him. Kashish serves them both food and they begin to eat. Vinit looks at Kashish and then towards Sujal, when Vinit makes conversation, pretending in front of Sujal as though he is not aware of the contract

Vinit: waise Sujal beta...tum Kashish ka khayal tho rakhte ho na?

Sujal: of course chachu...she is my love..she is my wife...she is everything to me..

Vinit: thats good...i am happy to hear how much you love her...mujhe Kashish ki taraf se tumhare khilaaf aik bhi complain nahin chahiye..tum bohat khush kismat ho ke tumhe Kashish milli hai kyunki woh bohat achi hai..isliye iska khayal rakhna aur isse bohat saara pyar dena tumhara farz hai

Sujal: of course chachu....lekin aap mujse aise kyun baat kar rahe ho jaise main kashish ka khayal nahi rakhta....kashish ne kuch kaha hai aapse...Kashish tumhe mujse koi sikayat hai to mujse kaho...

Kashish: nahi...nahi to...maine kuch nahi kaha...i am completely happy...

Vinit: arre tum us bechari se kya pooch rahe ho..usne mujhse koi shikayat nahin ki...mein tho bas chacha hone ka farz nibha raha tha..ab tum dono ko samjhana mera hi kaam hai kyunki yahan pe sabse bada main hoon aur mein tum dono ko khush dekhna chahta hoon aur aik saath dekhna chahtha hoon kyunki mera maan na hai ke tum dono aik doosre ke liye hi banne ho

Sujal: kya hum khush nahi nazar aa rahe...kya aapko lagta hai hum aapse jooth bolenge...trust me...yaha sab kuch thik hai...i am very happy...may be isse pehle main kabhi itna khush nahi raha hoga..

Vinit: sun kar acha lagga...mein tum dono ko aik saath khush dekh ke bohat khush hoon..waise papa se baat hui thi tho woh pooch rahe thay ke tum dono ne apne honeymoon pe jaane ka baare mein abhi kuch socha hai

Sujal: actually woh main abhi bahot hi busy hoon....i have just signed a contract with the government to supply them the crafts in the next one year...so we are really rushing....plus uske liye muje ek aur unit ko set karna hai...Germany se engineering team ko bula ke sab design set karna hai ...so next 3-4 months are very hectic...

Vinit: lagta hai tum dono apna honeymoon aur 1 year anniversary aik hi saath manane waale ho at this rate...aur Sujal bete apne business mein itna math kho jaana ke tum Kashish ko waqt na de sako...you need to balance everything...Kashish bhi ab tumhari zimmedaari hai...aik baar yeh project settle hojaye tho tum dono ja rahe ho...

Kashish: dont worry...muje koi sikayat nahi hai...mere saath saath inko apna empire bhi to sambhalna hai...

Vinit: haan lekin uska tumhari taraf bhi kuch farz banta hai Kashish beta..tum bohat achi ho isi liye tho isse kuch kehti nahin...khair Sujal is project ke baad, give it some thought..i know your a hard worker but you need a balance..kaam tho hum sab hi karte hain lekin insaan ki aur bhi zimmedaarian hoti hain...tum samajh rahe ho na

Sujal: yes chachu...i will...after this contract... I will focus on family life...

Vinit: good..ab chalo khaana khao...Kashish khana bohat hi acha banna hai beta...agar issi tarah se tum mujhe khilati rahi tho mera yahan se kahin jaane ka mann nahin karega

Kashish: koi baat nahi ...aap hamesha ke liye apne bete ke saath reh sakte ho...we will be very happy...

Vinit: mein tho mazaak kar raha tha...lekin haan jab bhi mann karega tumhare haath ka banna khaana khaane ka tho mein bas flight leke pohanch jaunga.

Kashish smiles back at him as they continue to eat their food whilst Sujal had some doubts regarding Vinit chachu knowing the truth..had Kashish spoken to him in his absence today? he would have to speak to her later to find out the truth. Dinner continued with light conversation as they enjoyed the company of Vinit chachu

After dinner they all retire to their rooms. Sujal and Kashish walked in to their bedroom, Kashish was about to go to the washroom when Sujal held her hand pulling her back towards him as he held her around the waist. She looked at him confused for a moment and then tried to get out of his hold...

Kashish: kya hua Sujal...leave me...

Sujal: tumse kuch poochna hai....kahin tumne Vinit chachu ko humare baare mein bata tho nahin diya?

Kashish: hamare bare me kuch batane ko bhi hai kya...

Sujal: tum achi tarah se jaanthi ho mera kya matlab hai...theek hai tho saaf saaf kehta hoon...tumne Vinit chachu ko humari contract wedding ke baare mein sach bataya hai ya nahin?

Kashish looks at him and then she pushes him with her hands and looks in the other direction...

Kashish: why would I? Maine kuch nahi kaha..

Sujal: tum jhoot bol rahi ho Kashish...tum agar sach bol rahi hoti tho tum mujhse nazrein na churati...yahin baat meri aankhon mein dekh ke kaho tho mein tumhari baat pe yakeen karunga

Kashish: muje kuch nahi kehna...tumhe jo samajna hai samjo...waise bhi in a month i am leaving....so why would i tell anyone now and create a problem..

Sujal: shayad tumhara mann badal gaya ho...maybe you don't want to leave me anymore and want to stay in this marriage...wajah kuch bhi hosakti hai

Kashish: aaj bhi koi waje nahi hai jo muje tumhare saath rehne pe majbur kare...koi base to hona chahiye na is rishte ka...is shaadi ka...hamara koi rishta hi nahi to saath rehne se kya matlab..its better we separate our ways before the contract gets over....thoda kam dard hoga...aur divorce aasan hoga..

Sujal looks at her for a moment, her words touched a nerve and pierced him inside. He did not know why he didn't like what she had said in that moment

Sujal: agar humara koi rishta hi nahin hai...aur na hi humari shaadi sahi tho phir tumhe dard kyun hoga Kashish? tumhe tho khushi honi chahiye..after all tumhe mujhse chutkara jo mil jayega

Kashish: shayad tum thik keh rahe ho...taklif muje is baat ki hai ki maine tumhari family jo itni caring hai unka dil toda...unka bharosa toda...trust me i am feeling guilty since I married you..

Sujal: unko takleef pohancha kar burra tho mujhe bhi lagaega lekin mere paas aur koi raasta nahin tha...anyway after a month you won't need to face them, mein sab kuch sambhal lunga tumhe guilty feel karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai

Kashish: hmm...rasta chodo mera...muje wash room jana hai change karne ke liye..

Sujal lets go of her as she leaves from there heading towards the washroom. When she walked out she saw him pacing the room, he looked like he was struggling to sleep due to not having any alcohol tonight, she walked to the bed as she settled inside, she felt bad for him but deep down she was happy that he did not have any drinks tonight..a while later she felt the bed dip beside her as he settled in, he was wide awake tossing in bed through the night as he struggled to get some sleep feeling frustrated and craving a drink

It was 3am in the morning, Kashish who was fast asleep turned around in her sleep, her hand going towards Sujal's side when she noticed the bed was empty. She sat up and saw him sat on his chair, his head resting on the chair, his eyes opened. Looking at him she could tell he did not sleep at all

Kashish: sujal.. tum soye nahi... its 3 am...tumhe subaah office bhi jana hai na...

Sujal: hmmm....i can't sleep..tum so jao mein thodi dair mein koshish karta hoon

Kashish: is it difficult to sleep without alcohol? ...

Sujal: hmmm...i was expecting this tonight anyway...maine tumse kaha tha na...i can't sleep if i don't have a drink...aisa pehli baar nahin hai...its happened before...

Kashish: why don’t you listen to some music..here take my headphones..

She takes out her headphones as she passed them to him, he took them and looked at them

Sujal: thanks...tum so jao mein theek hoon

Kashish: phir bhi na aaye to let me know..i will give you some sleeping pills..

Sujal: they don't work....maine pehle bhi try kiya hai...nothing works...mein thodi dair bahar terrace pe hoon...tum so jao...goodnight

He gets up as he headed out to the terrace, she watched him as he rested against the railings, holding his head in his hands as he tried to close his eyes for some relief. She settled back on her pillow wide awake as she watched him, she didn't realise when sleep took over and she fell asleep. Sujal hadn't returned to bed that night, she could sense his lack of presence as she slept.

Sujal is being forced slowly to change his ways. Change is never easy but at least he is trying.
