Sujal can't sleep without a drink as he is now so addicted to it that he struggles without it. Its become a habit for him which he can't change.

Yes the feelings are being developed and Kashish feels something for him. Maybe she hasn't realised herself yet completely.

Part-16

It was evening time, Sujal was in the office with Asmit and Jamie, he was on the edge and was feeling flustered, he loosened his tie and looked at them both, feeling impatient as he didn't have a drink for so long.

Sujal: i can't handle this much longer...i need a drink

Asmit: i am sorry but you are on strictly no alcohol...

Jamie: mam called and said no till Vinit sir is in India..

Sujal looks at them in anger as he bangs his hand against the desk, getting angry at the fact Kashish was trying to restrict and control him

Sujal: mein tum logon ka boss hoon ya Kashish...she has no right to control me or tell me what i can or cannot do...i want a drink now...if i can just get some whiskey..just one peg i will be fine

Asmit: she is doing all this for your better life...i think unhone kuch galat nahi kaha..,

Sujal: i don't care if she is right or wrong Asmit...all i know is that i need a drink..now i want you to go and get me some whiskey...and i want it fast...no i need it...please just go get me some Whiskey

They both looked at Sujal helplessly seeing how panicked he looked. When they looked at him and saw beads of sweat forming on his forehead, his breathing harsh as his eyes closed. He fell to the ground from his chair and Jamie and Asmit rushed to grab a hold of him looking at him in shock. They held him and lead him to the car heading to the hospital in a hurry. Sujal was taken inside the examination room whilst Jamie and Asmit waited outside, pacing the room, when the doctor walked out a while later. They rushed to the Doctor waiting for him to say something

Jamie: Doctor..how is Sujal Sir

Doctor: he is fine..lekin muje kuch serious baatein discuss karni hai regarding his lifestyle...please call his family members ..

Asmit: Doctor anything serious..i mean we will contact them lekin ghabrane jaisi koi baat tho nahin hai na?

Doctor: actually its the start of liver damage...it’s better if he quits alcohol and smoking... start a healthy life...

Asmit looks towards Jamie, as they both looked slightly worried knowing that would be next to impossible..if a few days were a struggle without alcohol and smoking for Sujal, their was no way he would be able to quit.

Asmit: thank you doctor..please keep an eye on him...we will inform his family

The doctor nods his head, heading back in to the room to check up on Sujal whilst Jamie and Asmit stood there for a moment, deciding to call Kashish to let her know what was happening

Kashish and Vinit were in the lounge having coffee in the evening, expecting Sujal home anytime soon. They were having a general conversation, when Kashish's mobile rings. She picks it up and was surprised to see Asmit's number flashing on the screen. She answers the call

Kashish: hi Asmit...how are you?...aaj mera kya kaam yaad aa gaya...yun achanak call kiya..

Asmit: wohh...actually Kashish...aap se zaroori baat karni thi...please listen to me carefully and don't panic... Sujal Sir...he is in hospital...he had a panic attack and passed out so me and Jamie brought him in to the hospital...Doctor unki family se milna chahte hain...to discuss about his smoking and drinking habits because he is suffering from early stages of liver damage...so if you can get here as soon as...don't drive i am sending Jamie to pick you up

Kashish; wait a minute....what in the hell are you talking about?.. Sujal aur hospital.... tum bol kya rahe ho... meri kuch samaj me nahi aa raha... subaah tak to sab thik tha to phir..to achanak yeh sab kaise...

Asmit: kashish woh...office mein whiskey peene ki zidd kar rahe thay..maine aur Jamie ne manna kiya aur kaha ke aap ke strict orders hain tho woh hyper hogaye...and then he had a panic attack...he is okay kashish please don't worry, he is unconscious but they are monitoring him..please don't panic

Kashish: oh god..yeh to hona hi tha....thik hai main abhi aati hoon...tab tak tum uska khayal rakhna..

Asmit: i am with him don't worry kashish ...and Jamie has set off to get you

He disconnects the call whilst Kashish's hands were shaking, she was worried sick, a sense of fear gripping her whilst Vinit got up looking at her in worry

Vinit: Kashish...sab theek tho hai...

Kashish: please calm down and listen to me....woh actually chachu...sujal ki drinking habit ki waje se he suffered a panic attack and he is in hospital suffering from early stage of liver damage...don’t worry doctor ne kaha hai he will be fine....please don’t worry...

Vinit looks at her in shock on hearing Sujal was in hospital...his shocked expression soon turning in to anger.

Vinit: kya!! Sujal hospital mein hai..aur woh bhi excessive drinking ki wajah se...i can't believe this Kashish!! I am so disappointed in you...jab mein tumse pehli baar milla tha tho mujhe lagga ke tum Sujal ke liye bilkul perfect choice ho...aur tum usse badal dogi..uska khayal rakhogi...i gave you both 6 months not for the money...but in the hope that you might fall in love with each other and start a married life...but you have failed me...you have proved to be his contract wife only...not his real wife...tum itni selfish kaise hosakti ho Kashish...yeh shaadi tumne paison ke liye nibhayi par kya tum mein itni bhi insaniyat baaki nahin thi...ke tum Sujal ko rok sako...yeh jaanthe huay ke yeh sab usse nuksaan pohancha sakta hai

Kashish: i am sorry chachu...main janti hoon ki main bahot kuch kar sakti thi but I have failed...lekin main kya karoon...maine bahot koshish ki use samjane ki lekin woh her bar muje contract ko yaad karake chup kar deta...trust me jitna aapko bura lag raha hai utna hi muje lag raha hai...aur maine kabhi sapne me bhi nahi socha tha ki aisa kuch hoga...please chachu mera yakeen karo...maine kabhi uska bura nahi socha...I have always tried to look after him..

Vinit: but you have failed. Shayad tum logon ka 6 mahinay baad alag hona hi behtar hoga..kyunki tumne mujhe galath saabit kar diya hai..tum dono shayad aik doosre ke liye sahi nahin ho

Kashish: kya sahi hai.. kya galat hai... woh hum bad me tai karenge...abhi hamara hospital pahochna zyada zaroori hai...sujal needs us...please try to understand..main sab thik kar dungi..muje ek mauka to dijiye...

Vinit: 6 mahinay poore hone mein aik mahina baaki hai Kashish..tumhare paas aik mahinay ka waqt hai..lekin agar Sujal ko koi bhi nuksaan hua tho mujhe hi usse sambhalna padega..

Kashish looked at him with teary eyes as he took a deep breath to calm himself. When Jamie arrived, Kashish rushed out with Vinit following behind as they headed to the hospital

Kashish and Vinit arrive at the hospital with Jamie and rush inside following him. Kashish sees Asmit stood there pacing the corridor when she walks up to him. He sees her in a paniced state and feels bad.

Asmit: Kashish...im sorry i had to break the news over a phone call to you but don't worry he is okay...

Kashish: its ok... lekin woh hai kaha...aur doctor..kaha hai...

Asmit: he is in the room..the doctor has just gone to check on another patient but he will be back soon...the doctor has warned us regarding his drinking habits as he is suffering from liver damage..lekin ghabrane ki koi baat nahin...it is early stages and can be helped with medicine..but the difficulty is that the doctor has strictly said no alcohol...i don't know if we will be able to stop him

Vinit: itna sab kuch ho gaya aur tumne hume batana theek nahi samja...tumhe kya laga ki Kashish aa gayi hai to hamari zimedari kam ho gayi hai...woh aaj bhi mera beta pehle hai aur baki sab bad me...jaise hi use discharge milta hai main use mere saath New Zealand leja raha hoon..

Kashish looks towards him in shock while Asmit lowered his gaze

Asmit: i am sorry Sir...baat itni serious hojayegi..hum mein se yeh kissi ko pata nahin tha

Before Vinit could say anything more they heard screaming from Sujal's room..It was Sujal..looking through the glass, Kashish saw how he was struggling to get up while the nurse was trying to hold him down, he was fighting her off when Asmit and Jamie rushed inside to help, they held him down trying to calm him, his jaw clenched as he shouted for them to leave him alone. The nurse hurriedly gave him a sleeping injection and moments later he relaxed falling asleep. Kashish stood there looking at him..tears made there way down her cheeks as she stared at him helplessly. Vinit looking at Sujal's state grew angrier.

Vinit: tum chahthi tho yeh sab hone se rok sakti thi..lekin tumne aisa nahin kiya...Sujal ki is haalath ki zimedaar tum ho Kashish

He leaves from there in anger as he heads inside the room...Kashish holds on to the wall her head resting against it as she cried...she settled on the bench beside the room and held her face in her hands as her shoulders shook from crying...she stayed there the whole night in the hospital corridor in silence..her eyes empty..the tears dry on her cheeks whilst her mind kept replaying the good times she had spent with Sujal..their was no sign of sleep in her eyes..all that she was left with was her tears and Sujal's thoughts

The following morning, Sujal was discharged and was allowed to come home. Their was silence on the way home and neither spoke a word. As they arrive they settle in to the lounge when Kashish looks up towards Sujal...this was the first time she spoke to him since he first came around in the hospital

Kashish: hum log Pondichery ja rahe hai... Dr.Jane ke rehab me... we are leaving in 2 hours...

Sujal looks at her in shock, his face showing his rage whilst Jamie, Asmit and Vinit looked at her with a similar expression of shock. Vinit's mobile was ringing so he walked up to his room while answering it. Sujal watched him leave and got up from the sofa, looking at Kashish

Sujal: you must be joking Kashish...there is no way i am going to Pondicherry...stay out of it...don't come between me and my drinking..i am warning you

Kashish looks at him in anger and goes to the games room and comes back with a cricket bat...she looks at him and then walks towards the bar hitting all his bottles with the bat and throwing them off the shelves...

The colour from Sujal's face drained at that moment, the shock soon being replaced with anger. He strode across the room and held her hand, taking the bat as he threw it to one side..the others looking at them in complete shock

Sujal: what the hell Kashish...yeh tumne kya kiya....why did you do this? i warned you to stay out of it....

Kashish: yeh to muje bahot pehle kar dena chahiye tha...jo pehle nahi hua iska matlab yeh nahi ki nahi ho sakta....tumhe aaj tak kisi ne kuch kaha nahi woh to tumhari sabse badi bhul hai...kash bachpan me kisi ne tumhe thapad mara hota to tum Itne badtameez nahi hote...lekin don’t worry i will teach you how to live...live for others...tumhe koi farak nahi padta ki tumse pyaar karnewale kitne pareshan hote hai...don’t you want to live for them...bhagwan ne tumhe ek mauka diya hai apni zindagi sawarne ko...don’t waste it...yeh mauka sabko nahi milta...tumhe mila hai...aur main tumhari madad karna chahti hoon...please ek bar meri baat man lo...please come with me to the rehab..tumhare pass 2 ghante hai saman pack karne ke liye...tumhari haa ya naa ka muje koi intzaar nahi...maine keh diya na hum jaa rahe hai matlab jaa rahe hai..samje tum.

Sujal looks at her surprised...not knowing what to say, he had never seen her in this way and he knew their was no reason to argue with her...her words seemed to have touched a spot..he watched her silently as she headed to the kitchen in anger...she returned with a glass of water and his medicines placing them in his hand...he just looks at his hands and towards her as she waited for him to finish. She glares at him when he took the medicine in silence. She headed up to the room to pack their bags as Sujal followed her placing his things in the bag...an hour and a half later they all left for Pondicherry

Two hours later, they said goodbye to Vinit who was staying behind to look after Sujal's business and left for the airport. They boarded the flight from Mumbai to Chennai and then settled in to a hired car on a 4 hour drive to Pondicherry. It was silent in the car, Kashish was lost in her thoughts as she stared out of the window whilst Sujal took occasional glances towards her. He sat back resting his head against the seat whilst keeping his eyes on her. he couldn't understand the sudden change that he saw in Kashish, he had never seen her the way he did today. She was behaving like a real wife. He also couldn't understand why he gave in and agreed to the arrangement, this was the first time he had listened to someone else. She seemed like a different person. It was getting dark by the time they arrived at the Rehab centre. Dr Jane who was the owner of the Rehab centre was expecting there arrival as she waited in the office. They got out of the car and they headed inside. Sujal looked around the place in silence and followed Kashish and the watchman who lead them inside, Jamie and Asmit followed with their luggage. Dr Jane looked up when she heard a knock on the door

Dr Jane: come in

Kashish opened the door and headed inside with Sujal following

Dr Jane: Good evening..you must be Mrs Garewal...and i believe this here is Mr Sujal Garewal. Mein aap dono ka hi intezaar kar rahi thi

Kashish: yes you are right ...I am Kashish...meet Mr.Sujal Garewal... jiske liye maine aapse subaah me baat ki thi...

Dr Jane: nice to meet you both Mr and Mrs Garewal. Please take a seat.

Sujal looks at Kashish and settles down beside her on the chair

Dr Jane: so Mrs Garewal..i have the admission papers here. Mr Sujal Garewal will need to sign these and then we will contact you once he is better and ready to go back home

Kashish: please don’t get me wrong..kya main yaha ruk sakti hoon...actually woh kya hai..i can only handle his anger...aur main nahi chahti ki koi aur pareshan ho..

Sujal looks at her surprised at what she was saying whilst Dr Jane shook her head

Dr Jane: i am sorry Mrs Garewal but you are not allowed to stay. We can only accommodate the patient and not their family members. But be assured he is in good hands....

Kashish: please try to understand.....main sach keh rahi hoon...he will be back by tomorrow night...woh aapki pareshani badha sakta hai... mera yaha rehna bahot zaroori hai....

Dr Jane: i can understand your concern Mrs Garewal but rules are rules. If i bend the rules for one person then i will have to do this for the others. Please try and understand that this is not possible. Hum Mr Garewal ka ache se khayal rakhenge and we will make sure he only leaves when he is feeling better.

Kashish looked worried and turned to look at Sujal who was silently watching the exchange between Dr Jane and Kashish. When Kashish's eyes fell on the board. There was an advertisement which stated that a Volunteer was needed

Kashish: thik hai... main aapki baat samaj sakti hoon... please try to understand... atleast i can join as a volunteer... I hope you don’t mind... please ab mana mat karna... I will try my best as a volunteer...

Dr Jane was silent for a moment and then sighed whilst nodding her head in agreement.

Dr Jane: theek hai Mrs Garewal...you can join us as a volunteer lekin Rehab ke andar aap sirf aik volunteer rahengi..not Mrs Garewal..you will have to treat all the patients equally and sharing your time between all patients

Kashish looks at her in a hope to see a bright future...

Kashish: thank you so much... I will do my best... aapko koi shikayat ka mauka nahi milega.... i will stay away from him ... if you allow, I will stay in the nursing quarters..

Dr Jane: thats fine Mrs Garewal. Mein watchman se keh kar aap ka samaan nursing quarters mein shift kar deti hoon. And Mr Garewal, aap ki room bas ready hai..aap ko wahan pe hum thodi dair thak shift karsakte hain

Sujal nodded his head and looked at Kashish who silently met his gaze. She looked away and followed the watch man out who lead her towards the nursing quarters. Sujal watched her leave whilst thinking about her behaviour..he could not understand why she was doing so much for him. He waited for a little while and signed the papers Dr Jane handed to him and was then lead in to his room followed by Asmit and Jamie who took his luggage with him and helped him settle....
