I'm feeling ... no not mush in that sense, but more like a squishy clump of something for Teeku. How big moments just happen without a major announcement ...

have not read it, just starting to, please continue, you know my review, its not really any analysis, but its more about the emotions, the feelings, the subtle and not so subtle psychological play between characters... so worry not, bas likhte chalo...

"her hand smelling like cypress and lime. She had gone back up to their room to pack and found her astringent bottle smelled like that. It had never smelled like a male cologne/aftershave outside the bottle in all these yearsLOL. (He had tipped it into the sink accidentally with slippery aftershave hands in "

😳 😆 lovely glimpses of where one starts to feel a little different without knowing it themselves.

it was all guptajii in this update for me. keeping a brave face, hoping she would be loved by her husband and in-laws, giving the mandatory fatherly advise yet somewhere deep down wanting his darling daughter to cling a wee bit More before she leaves, making excuses that his wife has asked him not to cry, when all he wants to do is cry. Indian bidais however ridiculous they may sound do pull at the heart strings. culture, traditions, reeti riwaaj, all trump common sense. I love it, I think this makes us more human.

Lumens light & Latin maps

They arrived in Bareilly much closer to night time. There was fireworks, band and lots of noise. The street was cordoned off for the "JV saab's bahu's cavalcade. It was surreal for Teeku to be part of a public procession like that. The Guptas were wealthy but did not have political or judicial powers

There were many in Roorkee that were as wealthy or even wealthier.

She was in Alka and Suman's van with their kids now.

"Bheed kam ho jaaye to raat ko zara so jaayen. Ma ne kal rakhi hai mooh dikhayi? Alka asked checking her phone

"Hamey to keh rahin thi aap apna Clara Swain duty manager se baat kar lein aur unko lek dein? Suman looked confused

"Hamey aur chhutthi nahi milegi Bhabhi Alka muttered with a sad face

"Theek hai, jab aap se ho paayega tab rakh lenge. Aap bina baat ke kisi se baatein na sunen Suman said firmly

"Humne haldi ki lee chhutthi, jaagran ki lee, uske baad jab Almora aur Dehradun se woh log aaye tab lee, kyon ki aapke NGO ka us din brochure ka kaam tha, phir rahi shaadi, do trauma events miss kar chuke hain hum Alka stared out the windshield thoughtfully

"Dekha jaaye t oteen... woh Bareilly Badayoon Rd waale crash ko bhi hum miss kar chuke, hamari CMO ne kaha ki unhoney hamari wajah se Military Hospital ka recommendation kiya for those crash victims"

The women were quiet for while

"Aapko dar nahi lagta accident victims ko dekhkar? Teeku asked softly

"Its like aap bank mein ho, safe deposit box ko dekhkar dar lagta hai? she smiled casually

Teeku had seen Srishti and Hemant at the hospital, Alka forgot where Teeku was coming from

"Hum dekh nahi paate" she said softly😭

"Achha ab accident ki baat rehne dein, yeh sochen ki kamre ki sajaawat kasie karengi? Suman giggled

"Umm.. Ma ne kuch samaan bheja hai hum kuch laaye Dilli haat se she said innocently

"Harit ka room badal chhodengi "the women giggled secretively

Teeku was baffled

Until she went to Harit's cluster of rooms.

But before that, there was an almost hour long singing, arti and chanting in the entryway

The house was strung with lights, some of different colors. It also looked like it had gotten a coat of new white paint. From far it looked like the governor's mansion in North Delhi, Rajpur Rd and Sham Nath Marg. White, circular with floor to ceiling windows every few feet with a semi circle arch above

A large arch flanked by white pillars at the entryway on the ground floor, leading to the inner courtyard

The walkway filled with red dirt and bricks buried into the sides so a triangle stuck out of the ground

The large brass nameplate outside the gate read "Honble Judge Sita Ram Vaidya

Additional Sessions Judge

Bareilly High court

And then in Hindi down below Mananeeya Nyayadeesh...

Lakshmi requested her son to change into formal clothing before he got in the van, he protested and never got to change along the way and stood by his wife in his grey ensemble

"Aap Ma ki baat nahi sunte hain. Kaha gaya hai aapse yeh jeans wagairah shubh maukon par sahi nahi Sita Ram spoke to his son in a gentle yet firm tone

"Hum abhi badal lete hain he said

"Oopar kaise jaayiyega aapka swagat nahi hua Sita Ram challenged

"Hum shaadi mein le gaye the Harit spoke politely

"Theek.. neeche badal lein Sita Ram nodded approvingly

He returned in a few minutes changed into the most exquisitely embroidered Lucknawi chikan kurta and chudidar in seal grey. And wearing kolhapuris.

The family pushed them to stand by each other, shoulders rubbing.

The first time since the wedding they were even that close

Lakshmi insisted he apply a bindi on Avantika's forehead and fill her parting

He did as he was told

Puneet joking in the back that he has to marry the woman many many times.

"Ab le jaayen oopar kamre mein Lakshmi nodded tearfully but smiling

Chandu was asleep again, gone for the night, he was taken to his room in the parents suite.

Cleverly planned by Harshal.

The first and the largest of the three room cluster was in this case being used as an office. The leather chaise in the corner the Scandinavian desk the book shelves framning the door on three sides. The dark platinum bamboo blinds. An apple iMac sat on the desk

The room had coughed up papers for years it looked like to her, there was stacks everywhere, spread out, collated... as if much legal work still happened on paper in this part of India.

The third bedroom, the room that was locked up until recently had no personality, it was a room with a large bed with beautiful floral sheets and a dresser in the corner, a rich walnut dresser with 8 drawers and a ornately carved mirror.

His bedroom startled her in its lack of grandeur. The low 7 inch high bed in ash wood with a foot high upholstered headboard, the feet holding it at a 45 degree angle, the minimalist frame handcrafted with no added splendor. The mattress draped in tweed grey sheets and a navy linen duvet folded neatly half way.

One wall was covered in closets with navy veneer doors, the other wall had a full size blackboard with various legal notes and flow charts in chalk some wiped off and written over

A lumens stick light, set of six hung from the 100 year old ceiling with navy beams across. The back wall where the bed was leaning against was a 17th century Latin world map wall paper with the title TYPVS ORBIS TERRARVM. Two black accordion night lights sticking out of the wall bent over the bed

There was nothing feminine about the room, it was like a bachelor pad in NY or LA.

And the scent of cypress and citrus...
