Giving "pace"
The kids and the newly weds all piled up into a van. Teeku sobbed uncontrollably when she parted from her Dad. Rishabh was already in it along with Harit's Bareilly friend a guy named Puneet
"Meri baat sunen... shhh shhh beta Shyam held her face
"Can you come see me tomorrow? she whimpered
He smiled
"Aaj ja rahin hain aap, kal aa jaayen?
"To hum aa jaate hain? she offered
He kissed her forehead
"Ma humey kehkar bhejin ki na hum royenge na aap he was suddenly fearful of his wife
"Is liye hum kahey ki aap Bani Bhabhi ko kyon laaye? Meeta Bhabhi will never tattle Teeku hugged her Dad tight
"Bhabhi ki shikayat baad mein kar lena. Aap ache se rahen. Ghar mein sabse helpful aur sabse pyaari Gupta choked up
"Daddd... don't gooo she whimpered
Harit stood behind her on his phone
"You would think living independently for 4 years she would be OK with leaving us he smiled sheepishly at his son in law
Harit smiled amused
"She is deeply attached to people she loves Shyam explained
Harit watched his wife's face, her flushed cheeks glowing with moisture.
"Harit chalen betaaa? " Lakshmi hollered from the van before theirs
Hoping that would cause her son to reach out and comfort his new wife and kickstart some intimacy
"Umm yeah... haan Ma he corrected himself switching to Hindi
He paused by Avantika not touching her still.
Gupta was hoping she would be pulled away gently into her new husband's arms
But wasn't...
He gently stepped back, Avantika pulling away finally
She turned and walked towards their van, Chandan almost half out of the window anxious his Teeku Maasi will change her mind in the last minute, waving Spiderman at her "Come... I have PACE... come maasi I have pace (for space)
Teeku quickly pulling her pallu over her head as 10 cars of people watched her with rapt attention
Harit boarded the luxury van after her and sat in the back, she sat between Gauri and Chandan
Shyam watched that his heart hurting.
Teeku's eyes too filled up for her to see Shyam again
Dhruv and Vibhu on both sides of Gupta now, holding him firmly
The van slid out of the hotel portico.
The six or so hour journey would be done in two groups. Harit chatting with his brother and friend about the match, during break Teeku switching with Chandan and Garima to the van the bhabhis were in upon their insistence and sleeping the way home.
Dreaming about Srishti and Hemant and waking up with a start, finding Chandan's head on her lap as he snored softly, the Superman resting in the folds of her saree on the front.
She picked it up and looked at it, her hand smelling like cypress and lime. She had gone back up to their room to pack and found her astringent bottle smelled like that. It had never smelled like a male cologne/aftershave outside the bottle in all these years😆. (He had tipped it into the sink accidentally with slippery aftershave hands in the morning)
She now knew someone that wore that scent...
She inhaled her palm again
Set the action figure back down and dozed off
