thanx.. yea glad u could make the title-story connection.. aww if ou guys can come up with a logical explanation of how the tumor can be transplanted from Kripa's brain to Ria's brain, ill be more than happy to make it happen😉😆

Part 6

A blur of red and blue lights caught Ria's attention as she got up from her bed wiping her tears. She looked out to see squad cars and ambulances standing outside the Sharma mansion. Her breath caught in her throat as she recognized Angad, holding an unconscious Kripa in his arms and taking her to the ambulance. She saw Josh running towards his car, and slowly the ambulance left and the street started to clear. She wondered what had happened. Had Kripa tried to commit suicide? Or was this a prudent joke to get Ria's attention. The thought disgusted her, but she thought, if Kripa could steal her boyfriend so disgustingly, she could do anything. However, somewhere deep in her heart, she believed Kripa over Karan, she just wouldn't admit it to herself. Not yet. Things were too perfect between her and Karan. She didn't want to ruin it.

Several hours later, Kripa opened her eyes in the hospital. Here eyes moved around the room and she spotted Angad and Josh standing by the bedside, looking at her with hopeful looks on their faces. She slowly smiled. Josh slowly approached her. "How are you feeling sis?"

"Great" she told him weakly. He smiled.

"I remember when you use to be little, you would have a high fever and mom would ask how you're feeling and you would say awesome. When you got in contact with poison ivy and were itching all over, dad asked you if it hurt and how you were feeling, you said better than ever. What surprised me was that it never was said sarcastically. Now, when you just fainted because of stress and your head is probably hurting, you're telling me you feel great. How are you really feeling?"

"My head is pounding, this place smells awful, I am hungry, I want chocolate cake, and I want to go home!" she replied with a grin.

He grinned back. "At your service ma'am, lemme go talk to the doctor about your discharge and then we can pick up some cake on our way home, 'kay?" She nodded as he kissed her forehead and left the room.

The room was silent as Angad stood at the side of her bed, hands folded across his chest, eyes focused on the marble floor. She stared at him intently.

"So what really happened to me?" she asked to break the ice.

He looked up, happy that she'd spoken, because he didn't have anything to say. "You fainted in your room because of stress"

Images flashed across her mind, of her childhood with Ria, Ria with Karan, Josh slapping Karan, Ria's phone call. She didn't realize when the tears started to fall from her eyes. He had an urge to cuddle her up in his arms and wipe all her tears and tell her everything would be ok. But his feet felt as if they were attached to the ground and wouldn't budge. He had felt so guilty. If he had taken more care of her, this wouldn't have happened. She wouldn't have passed out, wouldn't have taken stress. If only he had stayed with her after breakfast. The sight of Kripa lying motionlessly on the floor in her room still sent shivers down his body.

He had felt as if the ground from under his feet had suddenly disappeared. His heart had skipped a beat and all these chilling thoughts had gone through his mind. He had cried out her name in agony, getting hysterical. Now, as he thought about it, he had no idea how he had mustered the courage to pick her up in his arms that felt weak as a feather. How he had taken out his cell phone and dialed 9-1-1. How he had screamed Josh's name. His thoughts were interrupted by Josh's entrance. He noticed the tension in the room, and realized that Angad was in the exact same position as before. "Kripa, you've been discharged" He turned to Angad. "Why don't you bring her down while I sign some papers and pay the fee" Angad nodded.

Josh had done it on purpose. All the discharge papers had been signed and the fees had been paid. He wanted to break the tension between Angad and Kripa. He wanted to let them talk and sort out whatever was going on, even to confess their feelings. He quickly went down and left a note and his car keys with the receptionist. Outside, he hailed a cab and left.

When Josh left the room, Angad slowly walked towards Kripa, who was slowly getting up to a sitting position. He helped her sit up and then get up. She felt weak and immediately began to collapse. He quickly held her around the waist and their eyes met, but he looked away.

"Can you walk?" he asked.

"I'll try" she replied. He gently let go as she walked a few steps and then began to fall again. He caught her again and this time picked her up in his arms. Everyone stared at them as they walked down the halls of the hospital. She felt a bit embarrassed and self-conscious, while he didn't seem to notice the people around them. He went passed the receptionist who went after him and handed the note and keys. His mouth turned into a tight line as he read the note and then threw it. Kripa watched his every move as he crossed the street and opened the car door, gently placing her in the front seat and then getting into the driver's side. He started the car and she watched him the whole time as he drove. He knew she was looking at him but he ignored it.

She finally gave up and scowled. What was his problem? She wondered. He approached a certain street and was going straight when she stopped him and told him to go left instead. After a minute's hesitation, he obeyed and drove. She directed him around and then they finally approached the destination. Angad was shocked to see that it was an orphanage/boarding school. She turned to him. "You can wait in the car, or you can come in, if you want."

From the tone of her voice, he could sense that she wanted him to come and so he got out of the car and opened her door. He moved his hand forward to help her when she moved it away. She slowly got up and slowly started to walk. After a few steps, she felt stronger and was able to walk firmly. He watched, still standing by the car door. She turned around when she didn't sense his presence and called out his name. He shut the door and caught up with her. They went in and after signing at some paper, Kripa began to walk towards a room while Angad followed. They went in and watched as several kids played around. Kripa walked over to a small kid, barely 5 years old, talking to his friends.

The kid looked up and his face brightened up. His smile was wide and he quickly got up and went to hug her. Angad watched as Kripa's face brightened and she hugged the little boy. "I missed you" she told him.

"I missed you too!" he replied kissing her cheek. She smiled and kissed his cheek in return. His eyes moved to Angad, who was still standing in the doorway.

"Who is that?" the kid asked, trying not to show impoliteness by pointing.

"That's- " Kripa paused. "My friend"

As if on cue, Angad moved forward, bent down and shook hands with the kid. "Hello, I'm Angad" he said with a smile.

The kid looked at Kripa who nodded at him and then smiled at Angad and replied, "I'm Prateek!"

"Prateek" Angad repeated. "Great name"

"Mommy chose it" he replied, a bit shy now.

Angad smiled and took out a chocolate from his pocket. "You like Cadbury?" he asked.

"I love it!" Prateek replied and stole it from Angad's hand as Angad chuckled.

"Prateek" Kripa said sternly. "No chocolate for you"

She took the chocolate from Prateek who gave her an innocent, puppy-face look. "Please!!"

"No!" Kripa replied sternly.

"Oh come on Kripa, he is asking so cutely, I'll buy you another one, you don't have to take it from the poor kid" Angad said amusedly.

Kripa playfully hit his arm as Angad quickly stole the chocolate from her and gave it to Prateek.

"Thank you Angad- What do I call you?" he asked innocently.

"You can call me Angad uncle" Angad replied.

"Okay, thank you Angad uncle"

"Your welcome beta" Angad said, kissing him on the cheek. The kid looked so adorable, and just like him, he noted.

"Okay, we're gonna leave now, Josh must be waiting for us" said Kripa.

"Yea, lets go" Angad replied, getting up.

"Can I come with you?" Prateek asked.

"Sorry sweetheart, but no" Kripa said.

"Please?" he begged.

Kripa's eyes began to tear up. Angad asked, "Can we take him for a day?"

Kripa shook her head and quickly got up and ran out to wipe her tears.

"Is mommy angry at me?" Prateek asked. Angad was stunned. Mommy? He thought.

"No, she isn't, she just isn't feeling well"

"Oh, she didn't even say bye"

"She will" Angad replied. He quickly went out to see Kripa coming back towards the room, her eyes red and puffy from crying. She walked passed Angad, and after giving a proper farewell to Prateek, came out.

"Ready?" Angad asked. She nodded her head. They got in the car and drove towards home.

"Angad stop!" Kripa screamed. Angad quickly stopped the car. "What?" he asked.

She pointed at a bakery and said innocently, "My chocolate cake?"

Angad shook his head in disbelief but didn't say anything. After fifteen minutes, he came back with a big chocolate cake and handed it to Kripa. "Anything else?" he asked amusedly.

He was shocked when she nodded her head. "Now what?" he asked annoyed.

"I want strawberry ice cream" she replied. He rolled his eyes, but got up and brought back a triple-scoop strawberry ice cream for her.

She was delighted and started eating like a little kid while he drove and smiled. She offered him some and he shook his head. She persuaded him to try some and at the end they both ended up sharing it and enjoying themselves. They started to talk a bit ignoring any discussion of what had caused Kripa to pass out. After beating around the bush a bit, Angad said, "Kripa?"

"Hmm?" she replied.

"How do you know Prateek?"

She froze in spot. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, did you meet him at the orphanage?"

She looked out the window and nodded.

"What happened to his parents?" he asked.

"I don't know" she replied.

There was silence for a while.

"How long have you been visiting him?" he asked.

"five years" she blurted.

His eyes widened. "Five years?"

She bit her lip. "Uh, no, um,"

"Kripa, are you hiding something from me?"

"No!" she replied quickly. He reluctantly let the topic go as they arrived home and went in…
