Chapter XVI

Mihika reached the hotel. Blazing flames took over the building and her heart sank in fear. Never had she felt this helpless in any situation because she had never submitted her affection to anyone till such a great extent. She had a habit, she invested emotions but not enough to get hurt once her dreams come down crashing. But today, Mihika had reached a dead end. Could she actually turn away without any consideration of Abhishek's wellbeing?

"I cannot!" She turned back to face the burning building.

Mihika walked ahead to see anyone who could help to bring Abhishek out of the building. She saw a few firemen engaged with the same. She approached them and said,"Sir. You need to help me. Someone I know someone is stuck it".

"Sorry, but a lot of people are in. We cannot value life of just one when many of others are on stake", was the reply she received.

"But sir, you don't understand. I cannot afford to lose him".

"If you really feel like that, why don't you go yourself and save him!", the man shouted out, "You think we don't care about your someone? Well, we do! But there are others as well".

Mihika, who was already worried was severely hurt by such words. She quickly wiped her tears and then she struggled through the crowd to enter the flames which arose in the building. While everyone look in horrible amazement, Mihika stepped into the flaming structure.

Making her way though the place as she shouted out Abhishek's name, she made sure to be safe herself. She covered her mouth with her stole and uncovered it only when she had to breathe.

She finally saw Abhishek. He lay unconscious on the floor at a distance among the structures of the restaurant which were now all burnt. She could not wait anymore. She had to get him out of here.

She quickly made her way, cautiously through he flames and reached him. She then used her stole to cover him up and tried her best to bring him back to consciousness but all in vain. Then, she struggled to stand up as she took all his body weight on hers and tried to move. It was tough but she had to do it. That was the only way out.

She somehow reached the burnt door of the restaurant from where two firemen took Abhishek out. But before Mihika could come out herself a part of ceiling fell down.

But bore of could hurt her, a man pulled her. It was Ashok. He had saved Mihika. Mihika was shocked and could not react. He brought her out by making his way through the flames and then she was helped by a few women with a few wounds.

"It was close!" Ashok came to her.

"Nope. It wasn't! Again? Why Ashok? Why did yousave me? Why did you let me die?" Mihika could hardly speak without expressing her disgust.

"I saved you from death. You should be obliged to thank me!" He replied to her.

"I wish I could but I am aware of each and every tactic of yours. If it was up to you, you would not help your mom and dad. Don't try to fool me Ashok."

"I wish you could understand!"

"The thing is that I can! I can completely understand why you did this!"

"Oh! Is it?" Ashok said as he adjusted his shirt to normal.

"Yes! You setup a scenario to present as it I slept with you earlier! Whose honour was at cost? Mine! I got married to you out of my foolishness. Who invited her bad luck? I was me! You, out of you disgusting and shameless character, tried to molest me but you could not! Whose self-respect was hurt? Mine! I know every single cell in your wicked mind just thinks of hurting others in every possible way!" Mihika could not contain herself. She expressed all that she had contained for so long.

"But I have changed!" Ashok came closer to her and held her.

She got free of his catch and slapped him. "Don't dare touch! Don't you dare touch me Ashok! Never! I am not that foolish, helpless Mihika who had married you to take her so-called revenge. I am beyond that now. Don't try to play games with me, you are inviting your doom." Mihika warned him with rage rising up in her eyes.

"Can you ever tell me why would I do this otherwise?" Ashok shouted to ask her.

"You think of me a fool? Tomorrow is the very day our divorce period ends! Tomorrow is the final hearing and this so-called marriage of ours will end! You obviously cannot lose any chance to stop me from divorcing you because I am the only way though which you can hurt Ishita Akka and Raman jiju now!" She turned to leave then. She was happy that she saved Abhishek but the fact that she was saved by Ashok made her feel inferior in every sense of dignity. She quit the scene.

"Hm... I am sure you good will and foolishness will not let you divorce me Mihika. You will do like I want you to do! Invite your doom... again!" Ashok smirked as he thought of the his victory.

Chapter XVII

Mihika reached the hospital to which Abhishek was admitted. And after enquiring about him at the reception, she proceeded towards his ward.

Her thoughts were troubled by a lot of things which actually were too complex. The conditions were not that bad but they were definitely very complex. "I cannot deny it, its much more than just friendship", this was the only thing she could use to justify her behaviour today. That strange fear of losing Abhishek, that fearless action which rose out of fear of losing Abhishek, were all making her feel the same.

For a second, she sat down on a bench. "How long will I ignore this?" She thought. For the very day she felt Abhishek had something for her, she had ignored him and then ignored her own feelings. But it had to end someday. "But to think of anything at this point is nothing but plain stupid", her mind shouted out.

She stood up to proceed ahead to his ward. When she reached it, she looked though the window before entering. He was awake, and looking at the door as if he waited for someone to come in. Some lady then kept her hand on Mihika's shoulder.

"Are you Mihika?" said the nurse.

"Yes! I am".

"Well, I must say you are very lucky. He is waiting for you. The minute he got up, he looked around and asked me about you. Since then, he has asked me a hundred times whether you came to visit or not. Are you his sister?" She told.

"Sister?", Mihika seemed annoyed, "no! Not at all!"

"Then who is he to you?" The nurse then asked.

"That is something I am trying to figure out.." Mihika whispered.

"What?" the other asked.

"I am his friend." She told him.

"Such affection for a friend! Wow! I am shocked." She said with astonishment.

"Well, can I meet him?" Mihika asked without giving any coherent reply because she didn't have any.

"Yes. Please do!"

Mihika then entered the room. And as she did, a smile took over his face. They looked into each other's eyes for a few second and then she proceeded ahead to him.

"Mihika.." He wanted to say something but she stopped him.

"Shh! Don't!" And she hugged him. She hugged him with great affection. It was contenting for both them. Abhishek, wanted this since long and Mihika, to her it was the celebration of being able to save him. And by that hug, much passed between the two which was unsaid. Her thoughts, actions, and ideas were now clear. Her vision for tomorrow were now completely clear.

The nurse, who had entered the room, coughed to remind them of the place. They broke the hug. Mihika turned to the other side to wipe her tears. Then she turned to him and smiled.

"Thank you Mihika." He said.

"Thank you for?"

"Well, I was not in complete senses at the time but I definitely heard your voice. You saved me."

"How could I not?" Mihika told.

Abhishek, for a second, thought he was dreaming. But then he took out his chain and presented it to her.

"I have something you own." He said.

"Nope. You own it. I don't." She replied and then turned to leave.

Abhishek was confused. At times she so obedient, at other so obstinate. But that was something which invited his affection.

"I will be leaving now. I hope you get well." She walked towards the door.

"There are no severe burns the doctor said. Just a few on my left hand and one on my heart." He told her.

"I hope they heal soon." She told.

"I hope the one on my heart heals quickly!" He so looking down. And then, Mihika left.

"Aren't you just too cute to be?" The nurse said with a smile.

"Well, tell that to her!" He said sporting a grin.

Chapter XVIII

Mihika reached home and quickly retired to her room so that no one could notice her. She rested her head on the pillow and lay on the bed. She was confirmed of her love and sure about her decisions.

And then she heard Vandu's voice as it became louder as she came to her room. "Ishita stop! Ishita listen to me!"

And the next second, Ishita stormed into her room with Vandu behind her.

"What is this Mihika?" She asked angrily.

"What is what akka?" Mihika got up with astonishment.

Ishita switched on the television and opened the news. It was covering about the hotel incident and Mihika could be seen at a distance in the video.

"You went to help Abhishek?" Ishita asked.

"Yes! I did!" Mihika said firmly.

"Why? Did the fire squad need your help? No wait, I think you are too great to help people out of your good will. Isn't it?" Ishita said as she looked at Mihika with anger and eagerly waited for answers.

"I don't owe you any answers Akka!" Mihika replied.

"Oh you do! You do owe me a lot of answers. Tell me! Why is closeness, why this affection why this want for being with Abhishek? Why do you lack composure when he is talked about? Why haven't you met Mihir till now? Why do you feel comfortable with Abhishek? Why?" Ishita was way too enraged and darted her with question on Mihika's reply.

"Ishita, questioning her is of no use. Please, let us.." Vandu tried to control her.

"No! Not today. Mihika, you have to answer. You have to give me a reason, a strong one, for all your stupidities since you have landed back here. Tell me why did you risk your life for Abhishek who isn't even related to you?" Ishita told her.

"Because I love him!" Mihika declared.

Ishita was shocked at this sudden confession. Vandu was delighted and Mihika relieved.

"What? Kuch bhi!" Ishita said with an expression of her an instant dislike for the match.

"Yes! I love him just like you love Raman jiju!" Mihika told her.

"Mihika... You are not understanding! This decision of yours will directly affect the whole family. Everyone..." Ishita tried to explain.

"Thought that Mihika will come and run back to Mihir. Right?" Mihika completed Ishita's words and with much disgust.

"Yes! But this would make all happy! Mihika why can't you think of your family for once!" Ishita was irritated.

"I cannot! I cannot akka! I am aware that this would make all happy. But, it will destroy three lives. Of Abhishek, Mihir and my very own self. I am sorry akka. I don't have a big heart like you. I cannot sacrifice my love. I cannot! Please don't ask me to! To won't!" Mihika said, she felt weak and shattered to answer.

"Well, if you say so!" Ishita then quit the room.

Vandu, who was the silent spectator of the the fight of two sisters, was possibly the only one who was happy about Mihika's confession.

Chapter IXX

The next day, Mihika got up early and prepared herself for the court hearing about her divorce. Today, all her fate will directly turn around, she thought.

She got out of her room to find Vandu in the living room.

"Had a sound sleep?", she turned to face Mihika, "Oh! You seem all ready for the hearing! Great! We should be leaving in a few hours."

"Yes. I am ready. Today is a big day." Mihika told her with a faint smile.

The two conversed for sometime and Vandu tried her best make Mihika feel confident about her feelings for Abhishek. She expressed her happiness and assured her that Ishita will surely understand soon. Mihika silently, heard and replied when needed. After their talks came to an end, Vandu left to get ready and then they left for the court to reach at the given time.

Mihika entered the allotted courtroom with Vandu and Bala. Ishita and Raman came soon and Ashok and Suraj soon followed. Mihika felt disgusted on their arrival and recollected the events that took place the day before. Then, the hearing started. Mihika's lawyers expressed her concerns and then Ashok's did the same for his client.

Both, Mihika and Ashok, were called upon and then the judge asked.

"Ashok Khanna, do you want to put and end to this marriage? Remember that Miss Mihika's decision will be the final one as you have served your divorce period already."

Ashok readily said that, "he wanted to continue the marriage and hoped that Mihika will do the same".

While Raman, known to Ashok trials to hurt his family knew the reason for it, Bala was confused of such claims. Ishita and Vandu looked at Ashok with absolute disgust and Mihika remained expressionless.

Abhishek then entered the room quietly because he did not want to get noticed. He had made a long way by calling Madhu (Mihika's aunt and Ishita's mother) who informed him about all necessary details. The doctor had allowed him to leave only after he feigned to show how well he was. He now waited intently to listen to Mihika's words.

The judge the asked Mihika -

"Miss Mihika Iyer, do you want to save this marriage?"

Mihika looked up. She closed her eyes and said -

"Yes..."

Ishita and Vandu were shocked. Raman and Bala were amazed. The judge himself was shocked because he knew a lot about the case himself and was amazed at the absurd reply. Suraj was extremely shocked and even expressed his astonishment with a 'what'!

Two people were feeling just the opposite of what the other felt.

Ashok, was feeling elated that his scheme worked and he was able to convince Mihika into not divorcing him and his expressions well-coincided with his feeling as he grinned.

Abhishek, on the other hand was not only shocked, but also broken. He felt cheated, he felt used. Was all her affection a joke? Why she did do it? He could hardly think and instantly quit the room.

But Mihika was the only one who composed herself to be expressionless. She look perfectly unaffected and then the judge asked again.

"Miss Mihika, are you sure of your decision?"

Mihika then looked at Ashok and answered.

"Yes sir! I am completely sure that I want a divorce."

The judge, Ashok and Suraj and all other were confused.

'What?" asked the judge.

"Yes.. I want a divorce. Or to put it correctly! I want to end my marriage with Ashok." And finally a smile took over her face.

Abhishek was unaware of all that happened after he left. Mihika knew not that he had come and thus, was excited to inform him about all.

Honestly, this is all really clich. I mean you have seen all these things on television so its nothing new. That is a huge disappointment, I agree.

But I promise you that from now on, I'll try my best incorporate new things and be a little creative. After all, I need something which actually is entertaining and new. So, post this drama, I will definitely give you much better content.

Again loved the update! Oh cliche is good at times, don't worry. 😆 This update is actually my favourite! So Mihika finally realized her feelings for Abhishek! I loved that hospital scene, that hug! <3 And poor Abhishek, thinks Mihika doesn't wanna divorce Ashok, he's in for quite a pleasant surprise when he find out otherwise. 😆 I'm looking forward to Mihika's confession! Fab update! :)
