Chapter XLVII

"Ladies and Gentlemen. I am thrilled to inform you that the clock has struck ten-and-thirty minutes. So! That leaves his with one-and-a-half hour with the year! So, rejoicing, let us please dance. Ones with partners first while those who don't have one, please help yourself!" The host winked as he finished the last sentence.

"You need a partner!" Abhishek instantly looked at Mihika who sat right in front of him now.

"Trying to bond with a colleague? Well, ACP sir, I prefer to keep our relations extremely professional!" Mihika told him as she sipped her coffee.

"Hmm..." He looked confused, "Well, I don't see a reason for that?"

"Work is a place to amm..work!"

"Wow! That is new to me!" Abhishek feigned to be surprised.

"Abhishek!" Mihika narrowed her eyes at him.

"Okay." He said blankly.

Mihika thought for a second. She was enjoying it. Then, she felt that her head was nudging her to go and dance with Abhishek. And thus, she stood up.

"On second thoughts. I won't mind a dance with an ACP whose working with me in a project. Its completely professional!"

Abhishek, thought shocked, stood up in a second and nodded, "Very well!"

Abhishek held her hand and they walked to the middle of the hall. She looked straight into his eyes and her cheeks colored. This seemed so unrealistic because never could she expect this to happen. And then, as if trying to appear formal, they started dancing with much eye-contact.

Suddenly, while they had almost reached the end of their dance, Abhishek whispered in her ear, "Mihika, I have a surprise for you on the terrace!"

Mihika's senses responded quite actively and she 'hmmm'-ed in response. Somehow she knew what was coming her way and she could not wait to reach the terrace when the dance ended.

Chapter XVIII

It was dark. All that Mihika could see was the vast sky above her head studded with twinkling stars which enhanced its beauty to infinity. She gazed at the sky simply waiting for Abhishek because she knew that he would come soon to complete the moment for her.

And he did. A few minutes later, two arms captured her into their warm embrace from behind. Not surprised by it, she asked, "Something special?"

"Mihika. I need to tell you something. And this is something huge. It honestly is. Look, I don't want to be the guy who runs away with fear and I don't want to be someone who forces himself on his love. I want to be ideal, to put it mildly!" Was his reply.

Mihika giggled, "I thought you were ideal!"

"I was?" He said, taken aback.

"Oh just shut up!" She snapped and hit his arm sweetly.

Then, as if too excited to wait, he freed her of his hold and their positioned themselves so that they were standing parallel to each other, peering right into each other's eyes. Smiles made way to their faces. Then, as of entranced, he sank to be on his knees and held out his hand. Mihika was not shocked but her excitement was clearly visible.

"Mihika, I-I" he struggled, "I am not a perfect rich guy who every girl dreams of. Not the most fun guy with a lot of friends. I do not own a Mercedes and don't live in a bungalow. I am too just a humble policewala with a decent salary. And though this is not the most ideal proposal since I don't have a ring because I could not exactly get funds to buy you a solitaire which you rightfully deserve, but still I love you and I know you love me. So..." He breathed as he closed his eyes, "will you marry me?"

"Well, if you insist!" Said Mihika as she placed her hand on his.

He rose up and embraced her into a bone-crashing hug. They were now ready, now one and determined to go ahead on this journey of life, together. Forever.

To write the end of this story was nothing but immensely saddening for me. The reasons could be many. The hopeless fangirling over AbhiKa or maybe the motivation of friends. Or maybe the readers who stuck with this story till the very end but all in all it was saddening. But I know its memorable.

The end was a bit rushed. I get that but the fact is, I was stretching this for months. And I did not want to do that anymore. Hence the rushed end. Though I hope it still satisfied somehow.

In the closing, I can only thank all for the support, motivation and appreciation. I want to continue writing here on this platform of India-Forums and so I will soon launch a new work of mine alongside the ongoing Mahabharat FF.

Special thanks to a few people.

Ramya, the one who always waited for the updates and motivated me like none other. No matter how long she had to wait, she would still enjoy and ask me for more updates. A fellow shipper and best friend. Thanks a ton deary.

That was so beautiful! I had a smile on my face start to end. That conversation between AbhiKa as professionals, that was so cute. 😆 And that proposal. I loved how you kept it so real. If AbhiKa had reached that stage in the show, that is exactly how I would've wanted it to be. That was just the most fabulous closure you could've written for this amazing FF.

u didnt pm me.accidently i saw this.
loved d way abhishek proposed mihika.it was very realistic.bcz in real life men do not always propose with costly jewellery.simple words with a lot of luv n sincerity made the proposal lovely.loved d abhika hug at d end.abhika 4ever.nice ending
