Apologies for being so late..!Chapter 9:
I enjoyed reading this chapter so much that I might just end up quoting the whole chapter.
Their little tiffs are like those of a married couple already :)
I love how Khushi conveys that irrespective of their current and future fights...she will never want any walls between them...physical or metaphorical. Truly the foundation of a strong, long lasting relationship.
"I stop in my tracks, and then turn around. As my gaze meets his, my heart squeezes painfully looking into his sad brown eyes. But I stand firm, not giving so quickly. I need to make sure he understands this cannot happen again"...Yes, Khushi...you go girl...it's never a good idea to give in too quickly...heart melting brown, black or blue eyes notwithstanding..!!
Ah...the making up part is the best...and tears never be far behind..at the start of it...I loved how you wrote this part...Brought out their closeness really really well. They'll come a long way in their relationship already ...and without even 'doing it' once :) And I love it this way..
"Yes sweetheart... sex, can make that headache go away... that's what it says. So..". Nice try, Mr. Raizada..lol.
Loved how you vividly you described their trip to Long Island. And that beach house sounds awesome.
And your Khushi is adorable..She has just the right amount of shyness her..,not too little ..not too much just right...:) So much more realistic than out and out brazenness...lol, which does not sit well with me as far as Khushis are concerned..!
Ah..you wrote Khushi's realization and confession so realistically...,Such a natural progression of thoughts.
Loved these lines to bits...
"Would I be considered selfish to want this forever with him?
No, I wouldn't be.
I deserve his love that he showers upon me, and he deserves mine in return.
Hasn't the distance the past week, taught me that I need this man in my life?
What he means to me?
When he is not around, I feel empty.
My heart aches for him for his presence when he is not around or to see him in pain.
Everything about him, what he makes me feel, is all that I have wanted, and more. To be loved the way I am with my strengthens and weaknesses.
Doesn't this all mean one thing?
It's time for me to accept it and voice it out loud"
INTERLUDE..
Take a bow, my dear, for portraying the various dynamics so so realistically...
Every single sentence was so real and relatable..
The understanding father who's quietly proud of her daughter's academic achievements.
The more vocal mother who is anxious how her grown up daughter will cope in a strange land...by herself.
The concern that with her becoming too qualified, suitable boys and their families will shy away from proposing to her.
Finding a suitable match before she flies away to a distant land for future studies...
And a daughter trusting her parents' choice, going along with it and sensibly trying her best to make it work...this happens all the time in desi communities! Many smart, educated, intelligent girls do it and I believe if that's what they decide to do there is nothing wrong with it. It's their choice and their business!
Had Sameer been a decent guy, there was a real chance of this arrangement working...like it does for many girls..the world over...esp in desi communities. I believe that for many girls and boys, this is how they were destined to find their soul mates...
But Sameer was a jerk..of the highest order...and it was just not meant to be..!
Unfortunately men like Sameer are a dime a dozen and enough to shake your faith in men and humanity in general !
No wonder poor Khushi was initially reluctant to enter into a relationship with Arnav..
The way Arnav restored that faith is so damn romantic...love it !!
Loving this story and loving the author even more...Hugs..
Can't wait for the next part :)
Much love,
Jen.
Apologies for being so late..!

So, if I can... I would like to comment on the Interlude... after reading all the comments, I expected the reaction I received... Sameer is an asshole and everything beyond that! And for those readers, that understood what I was trying to portray...👏 If you all don't mind, I will give myself a pat on the back for that...👏
But after reading a comment, for a split second, mind you a nano second, I questioned my take on Khushi's past... but then quickly shook my head in a negative... because I am not sure where that came from.Men like Sameer and Women like Khushi, exist everywhere, meaning in the world... so we are kidding ourselves that this is not real or believable...And, I have personally have witnessed this first hand, where someone as smart and intelligent as Khushi remains in the relationship without sharing it with her family or even friends in hopes that it will work out in the end. This is because they don't want to let their parents down, they try to make it work. Parents who have never asked anything from children, but have always given back, then one day ask you to consider this for them. And, you know your one yes will fulfill there dream and make them happy... how does a child say no to that? You grow up believing and trusting that your parents know best, but what we don't realize that some parents will actually listen, we just need to take that step... but believe it or not some are afraid to have that conversation...But it takes a woman with guts to do what Khushi did, so I applaud those women who respect themselves to say enough is enough. And for those parents who support their daughter's through this and encourage them to move on in life...because men like Sameer don't deserve it!This is a reality in our society and culture, and it's hard to go against it...we tend to stay in relationships no matter how hard it is and try to make it work for our loved ones... So I would say these characters are as real and believable...This story is meant to be simple love story about a woman with a past, that moves forward in life... so the plot should be fairly easy to figure, I am not writing an intense complicated drama.I hope this clears any confusion...Thank you all for your continued support and and understanding where Khushi is coming from with her apprehensionsBut it's time to move on, and give Khushi the happiness she deserves so I hope you will continue to join me in that journey.Love always,Jigs

You know Jigs, the other sad part in our society is even parents and relatives too always end up praising sons more than daughters even though both of them are equally capable and equally intelligent. Right from young age girls have to face this kind of discrimination in our society and unfortunately this unfair bias is carried on even after she is married.Probably Sameer is also brought up in such an environment wherein a man is always thought of to be superior than a woman.I have seen this happening in my own family. But atleast Khushi was the only child and got full encouragement from her parents and was probably shocked at such complexes which exists in our societies. Here again without knowing the entire truth as to why her wedding broke off, people blamed her and her family, which again shows that we live in a male dominated society and fingers are always pointed at girls first. Thanks to you for pointing out these evil practices which exist in our society through your story. And thanks a lot to show that a girl can stand against such people and stick to her morals and principals, and still achieve great things in life.
