😊
The best thing about this story is that its so close to reality.
The dilemma Shashi faced was so well put.
One can understand and sympathise with both Shashi and Garima.
Shashi's guilt at not letting Khushi decide what she wanted to do in life came out vety well.

Both Khushi's parents didn't understand her state of mind when they spoke to her.
Doesn't this accentuate the chasm between them?
Why does Arnav understand her and not her parents?

Loved how Khushi seems to be at peace at last.
She is happy to have gained the confidence of the villagers.
And is happy to have brought some comfort to them.
One hopes she is successful in her endeavour and quits the village a happy woman!

It's such an irony that Shashi and Garima are feeling guilty now, when it seems like Khushi has finally opened her heart to this career. I feel that doing what she's doing, really making a difference in a desolate place , has helped her see the good in this situation. Maybe the lack of conversation is because she's exhausted, seeing how much physical work she needs to do during the day.

Chapter 33 made me think of the many parents who would decide the future of their kids with the hope that their actions will result the best consequences. For some of it results are exactly a consequence of actions taken by them wholly on the directions of others. I wish all could be Garima n Shashi lke parents so that they are ready to catch their kids whenever they fall.
The portrayal of Garima's helplessness and Shashi's dilemma was bang on. I am just wondering what will be Garima n Shashi's reaction be when they realize Khushi seems to have a purpose in life away from home(i am assuming i m interpreting Khushi in chapter correctly).

Am here ... 😊

"Tomorrow was the d-day. If all went well, she could go back home in peace and with something to be proud of for the rest of her life. If it didn't, she would work harder and
do whatever it took to make it work. She felt the excitement run through her veins and
her hands trembled with nervousness. There would be no sleep for her tonight..." 😃

There is nothing ... nothing more satisfying than the feeling of fulfilment and satisfaction
one gets from seeing what you have been toiling so hard over ... reaching its successful culmination ...
I can feel the adrenalin rush in Khushi ... the quiet excitement ... Shashi is going to be a
very proud man when he gets to know the real cause of Khushi's silence on the phone ... 😃

Meanwhile I can understand the frustration Garima is going through at the thought that
they may have stifled Khushi completely by imposing their ideas for her future and career ... the feeling that they may have failed as parents ...

Twiggy ... this was fabulously written ... the turmoil Khushi's parents are facing ... feeling
frustrated and unhappy over what they may have done to their own child ...

Thank you ...

I think I'm beginning to understand Khushi. As a parent he is worried if his daughter will become independent in the future and whether she will be able to stand on her legs. And while thinking that, it is customary of him to stick to the trodden down path, knwoign that there is stability in the same. After all, how many parents allow their children to do what they wish to, despite being aware that their choice of avocation possesses risks of failure?

That said, Garima also has valid reasons to be apprehensive. While Shashi can reprobate himself for enforcing his decisions on Khushi, Garima's guilt is greater for she had a choice between standing by her daughter or her husband, in which she chose the latter.

The greatest revelation from the chapter though comes in the form of Khushi. That she had made peace with her current circumstances was implied earlier, but to see that the surrounding conditions had had an impact on her to the extent of her considering them seriously is surprising. Not that I'm not happy for her. I'm sure this means that she will not feel as though her four years have been wasted, contrary to her parents' sentiments. But it does raise a question mark on her future as a writer. And I would have suggested multitasking, but seeing that she is considering Payal's words of focusing on one thing, I'm thinking that it is goodbye time for writing.
