Taani s college/classroom- taani sitting inbetween Natasha and XXX( uska naam!) Natasha thinking deeply, the other two working together

"i think u shouldn't go " Natasha declared, they looked up from their work at her,"presentation serious affair hain though maine socha nahin tha ki rey jaisa cool banda bhi itna stupid niklega" she added for a good measure disappointment in her tone. taani was uncomfortable that she had said something anti rey to them

" i dont think he s stupid , tum log samaj nahin rahe ho. its just that shayad...maybe u guys taani have gone through bad times together and he wants you around for the good time bas"

"how do u know? tum usse jaanthe bhi nahin ho"natasha

"bcoz im a guy Natasha" he frowned at her

"and just bcoz of that tum support karoge usse? How cheap!"

He frowned "o cmon, its not that- agar mera itna bada din hotha tho i would want the most important person in my life to be with me kyunki wo bhi utna hi happy feel karthi jitna ki main"

The girls stared at him,Natasha sighed," arre yaar u r confusing me ...?" taani looked at him guessing he was right- it was her importance in reys life that made him want her around for the dance

XXX looked at taani," honestly ,i dont think he was unreasonable taani, he didnt ask you to ditch your presentation..i mean look at it practically, u can go and come back in time for the presentation .." Natasha was about to open her mouth, he stopped her with a look and continued," dont worry about the college work, wo hum manage karenge. its always there but aisa ..opportunities roz roz nahin hota... tum khudh ka kaam karlo one day earlier and then go for the evening..itna bhi difficult nahin hain.. its really upto u"

Taani looked from one to the other calculating what he said - it made sense- when mobile rang"Bhai- she stared at the name- tumhe yaad hain ki tumhaara break up kyun hua tha? she heard bhai asking her once and suddenly reys fake break up , reys words to Sharon that had made her break up with him ,her refusal to go back to him bcoz he had hurt her basic personality, her first difficult few months in this college, tauji s concern for her- tauji s words that he had once said- ek hi galthi baar baar mat karna- came in front of her minds eye.. the ring stopped.it really was upto her

"sorry" she replied to no one in particular," i mean nahin , i dont want to go. Im sure he ll be fine without me unke dance mein but im not sure ki main apna 100% depaaoongi apna presentation ke liye agar main yahaan wahaan ghoomthi rahoongi" her voice stronger as she spoke, she looked at XXX, he smiled understanding her stand , she smiled back at him gLad someone understood," and Im sure rey will understand, abhi gusse mein hain tho shayad soch nahin paayenge but main baad mein manaloongi unhe" she smiled looking at natasha.

Her smile had no worry , no anxiety surprising Natasha by the suddenness ," okkkaayy," she drawled," ur wish...but tell me this ,tum usse manane ke liye kya karne waali ho?" she winked and gave naughty grin making taani blush and laugh.

Reys place- on the terrace

rey in deep thought for once not walking up/down in his usual style rather lying down on the floor staring at the stars in the sky - hearing his dads words again and again

tum dono , u r different He knew most people thought they were an odd couple- the team , in college and he also knew she felt bad about it but it had never affected him--- till now and ...kya farak padtha hain , it didnt affect him now , he couldn't understand how being different would affect being a couple , if they were sure of one thing it was that they loved each other ..wasnt that enough? Dad aapna i think confused ho bas , he said to his absent dad angrily ,maybe u just dont like her ...no dad would've said it if he didnt like taani...but jo aapne kahaan ki maine kuch kiya nahin hum dono keliye???...he turned over in exasperation

Of course dad ko pata nahin hoga but... he had glimpses of him going to her college to make sure shes fine, of him convincing her to get back with him...of him waiting up for her each day before she called after finishing her work ...of her working with swayams laptop and he got up sitting on his knee feeling frustrated ...no dad , ive done my bit too , its not like im the villain here - he heard his dad say- so i guess u ll be going there...slight guilt developed that he hadn't thought of going there for her presentation at all but the thought of the presentation/project got on his nerves usse ab uska project mujhse zyaada important hain bas but.. its actually okay - i really understand but mujhe weird lagtha hain ki she doesn't care for team , for the dance or for my words..pehle tho aisa nahin thi

Mobile msg - taani- hi rey, aap teek ho? of course he wasn't fine- he was angry , He was confused , he was...angry...he didnt reply...msg- rey im sorry, i know ur upset ...kya itna upset ho ki baat bhi nahin karni? He stared at her pic on the screen ...msg again -rey??. and then sighed, her worry was visible in her msg but he didnt want to talk to her for the first time since he fell for her ,msged back taani can we talk later? Immediate reply..ok...then again...apna khayal rakhna, love you rey

he waited --the pic taani on the screen was one of the old ones -then remembered that he had just told her not to msg, he threw the mobile aside and lying down again stared at the ceiling- seriously maine kuch nahin kiya apne relation ke liye? Of all the things his dad said , this was bugging him..He had glimpses of the first time they broke up, of her refusing to get back with him when he begged her to , of her farewell when she really left him, of his guilt at the fake breakup, of him trying so many times to get her to dance and suddenly got angry- itna expect karna galat hain ki she atleast tries to come here??itni important day ke liye?

And picked the mobile again, saw the pic - her cute smile, bright eyes , funny hairstyle and her funny dress- with an innocent confidence that the world was a perfect place- he ran his thumb over the screen- the pic disappeared leaving the screen blank and ...it struck him suddenly- as he stared at the blank screen, he wondered why he had this old snap of hers and not one of them together or ones with her hair let down...he wondered what she would say to his dads words...and heard her voice out of his memory something she had said recently main aapke dance ke baad aathi hoon, yeh main accept karchiki hoon but main aapki dosti ke bhi baad aathi hoon, yeh accept karna...its a little difficult and frowned , kya taani ko bhi aisa hi lagega ki maine usse neglect kiya hain?

- bohot dard hota hain yeh jaanke ki aap ki koi importance nahin us person ki life mein jo aapkeliye sabse zyaada important hain - he heard her tell aashi . he got up, his one leg folded and another stretched No that was for times jab maine galthi ki thi , ab meri galthi kya hain?

his head was in a mess and he shook it , ran his hands in his hair messing up his hair as well. his mobile rang again- some guy from the outside teams who had been irritating Sharon etc.,..he ignored it completely , it kept ringing and ringing - he didnt see but got up, walked to the compound wall agar kisi aur ne kahaan hota tho i wouldn't have bothered but dad? ok for a sec let me just say ki meri hi galthi hain ki main...understanding etc., etc., nahin hoon but wo...kya uski koi mistake hi nahin ? and stopped to think yeh main kya soch rahaan hoon? rey! it doesn't work like tit for tat...but wait usne bhi tho... he stubbornly persisted , for a second he got stuck,and scratched his head ..

his brain rankled his memory searching for hurtful things she had done...he had a glimpse of the CD dance and the note she had sent him with it and then glimpse of her hitting his arm saying sab aapke wajah se mera project change karna pada yahaan aake, of her saying long time back that he used her, her working alone on her project, her making sure swayam wasn't angry with him, her sleeping on the couch in his front room tired out ...her hug that made him feel like nothing was wrong with the world, that he was the best ...the last time he kissed her in swayams kitchen when he felt like nothing mattered when she was around , if she was around..and he looked up at the sky- ... stars in the sky!! Taarey!

he laughed STOP.. his laugh increasing he himself couldn't find times when she had hurt him -he heard her breaking voice over the call telling him main aa nahin sakthi .. it was unbelievably simple.. she had done one thing- for once tumne sirf khudh ke baare mein socha and mere baare mein nahin..he laughed again , realising he was laughing at himself
