I know tomorrow is my exam and i should study , but when i saw this link shared by K on twitter , i couldn't help myself from joining this initiative .
In normal life if a person so much as copy my dialogue or my takia kalam , i go all wild cat on him/her , so i can truly understand what u writers go through when u see ur hard work not being appreciated but instead , shamelessly copied and published everywhere .
I can't promise my presence till 20th but after that i am ready to fight with u guys for this cause 24/7 .
First of all ONLY READERS CAN STOP PLAGIARISM . I mean , writers only visit one or two forums and write , chat there only . They are busy people and they already have a sword named updates , hanging over their head . But readers , we visit a lot of different forums to read different stories . So chances are high that we readers come across more plagiarised stories than the writers . So it is expected that we don't just curse the guilty writer in our minds and leave . NO , as a reader it is our responsibility as a reader to inform the original writer about the copying and publishing of their work .
Issues i want to highlight -
1 . Readers don't even know if the story they are reading is original or copied .
This is a very common problem . And sometimes stories are copied from IF on IF only . But IF is such a big platform so its impossible for a person to have read all tge stories and inturn guess if a story is plagiarised or not .
Solution - Whenever a person comes across a new story just select and copy 2 - 3 lines and google them to see if its original or not . But , this won't be possible after proper implication of No - Copy code . So a new solution has to be evolved .
2 . When a reader comes across a new story which he/she has read somewhere else , the reader first asks the new writer if its original piece or not instead of asking the old and authentic writer . Always ask the writer whose story u saw first . Remember Rae , when i came across a story similar to ur 'Here Without You ' on Med , i first asked u .
3. When the reader asks the new (suspected of plagiarising) writer , he/she claims to be the author of the original and the new story too . I remember , when your HWY was plagirised the second time Rae , i had a fight with **** (you know her name) , she told me that she was the one who wrote it on IF too and i was like Yeah Sure ! Then She wrote a prologue of Tina's Shameless too and when i inquired her about it , she said she was the original author of this one too . And i was like , So you are both , Angelteen and Tina , hmmm interesting .
Solution - ok its funny but as it is seen written on the borads of many hotels and restaurants , that 'hamari koi branch nahi hai ' . Same can be done here
Whenever a writer writes a new story , a note should be put at the starting that you are writing it on IF only and if a copy is found anywhere else then its definitely not by you .

Ok so enough of my Raam Katha .
All the best to you guys ! Tell us what all can we do and we all will surely help u . I am ready and just a pm away and for u Krani , just a tweet away .
Will get back to u guys after 20th .

Absolutely LOVED this initiative...!

India Forums should do everything in its power to stop plagiarism...If India Forums is a safe place to post stories I guess writers wouldn't need to use restricted blogs and readers like me can enjoy stories without being forbidden access...

I strongly believe that members caught plagiarizing within IF should be immediately banned and sticky posts should be made warning everyone else about them...The Nocopy feature also must be updated so that no work can ever be stolen by another...

I am posting the link to this thread on my post about how plagiarism hurts new readers so that more people would be aware of this initiative...I hope its ok😊

I am with u guys... I don't know abt your stories being copied and parted at other sites or on FB as I don't visit any other site but one thing I request u guys to do is to name and shame these people on IF rather than calling them plagiarisers just simply name them, give them one chance of explanation via pm and if they don't pay heed then simply name them and keep doing it with every update so that every reader keep a look out for them in the comments section.

Krani has mentioned in a post on her ff caught that there is a writer who is doing this then I would ask u to pm her and tell her how u feel, if she comes up with an apology and takes down the copies stuff with the promise of not doing it again then fair enough otherwise let it be known to your readers as well to not read her stuff as frankly speaking I don't read all the FFs on this forum so I won't be able to help without u people guiding us... The rest u have requested us to do we will definitely do it.

Its really frustating for me to see the works being plagiarized or shared without permission. As much as the writer is hurt, its too disheartening for readers too. More for the new readers who might have come across a story too late, wishing to read but can not since the work has been removed or shifted to a blog.
I remember posting a complaint about molten lava s' 'mirage' being shared on facebook but the reply which I got here from mods was that they cant do anything about that. :/

the admin of the fb page gave stupid excuses. I threatened him to take that off but quite foolishly thats the only thing i could have done.
Molten/rachel is also inactive on if due to family reasons..how to tell her about it!

I am with you all..

I hope strong rules are formed and implemented.

I cannot say anything now that hasn't already been said before, except perhaps more colorful swearing directed at those who indulge in something as petty as plagiarism. I fail to understand what they stand to gain from this - two minutes of fame, nay, online fame - and adoration from people who they have never and perhaps will never meet? This would sound retarded to any sensible person out there.

Anyway, this is just to let you guys know that you have readers who are with you, and will do everything in their power to stop this nonsense.

IF wasted no time in dealing with posting of mature content on the forum. Plagiarism is a much more serious issue, why is it taking so long to rectify it?

I am totally into this and will do whatever I can, will try to follow as many steps as I can . Do we have to have a twitter account to contact vijay on his id?? coz i dont have one, but i am ready to make one if it solves the purpose.
The frustration of not being trusted as a reader, not being able to read good work, not even being told what I can do to prove my worth as reader is too much to bear to just sit back and wait for everything to become right by itself.

Great initiative guys👍🏼...support you all the way!!!
I love to read and i joined IF an year back to read 'Redux' by tanthya and doodleberry and much later got to know about the concept of fanfiction and came across few wonderful stories and writers. I also lost lot of time to my travelling and by travelling i mean without internet connection for 4-5 months at a strech and as a result by the time i came back and actually started reading, lot of recommended writers had walked out or restricted their work. But naturally who will not if they get hurt like this. I can only imagine the pain a writer goes thru who puts in so much effort in writing such beautiful stories, by this horrible act.
Really hope admins/mods do something to resolve this problem and soon otherwise i fear genuine readers who appreciate and enjoy these beautiful stories from their favourite writers will have to make do without it...Simultaneously stifling the creativity of writers also.
Thanks a lot Krani and Angelteen for the post!!!❤️

IF doesn't entertain mature content, neither posting blog links nor posting pics/ contents from external sources, then why doesn't it take plagiarism seriously?

The No Copy code doesn't really work. Not even on first page.

Genuine readers suffer as the writers feel the need to protect their work.

Members like me who joined a tad bit late and have not interacted with any other members are deprived of reading the recommended links.

Coming to people plagiarizing, I fail to understand their motives.

One popular author's story posted here on IF was posted again on IF by someone else adding bits and pieces here and there. Some stories were posted by changing the names of the characters. This is so pathetic!

One writer plagiarized, her threads were locked and nothing else was done about it.

A sticky thread to let the readers know that the writer has plagiarized is a very good idea, provided it is a no comments zone.

Noting the IP addresses is great too!

It's high time IF makes the writers feel secure of posting their work on IF itself.

And also the threads where the contents are removed by the writer as they have shifted their works to blog should be trashed too.
