A very good post, plagiarism is on par to identity theft. Just as you would not want someone else using your credit information to acquire goods, you should not insult someone else intellectual and creative skill by stealing their writing. In school and college this is punished by suspension and in severe circumstances you are expelled.

The MODs should ban the account straight away ,pending a private inquiry if necessary, the email address/ IEP information should bring up an alert if the person tries to re register

Public humilation by listing their names on a repeater list on the forum, along with credit to the author of whose work they stole... These offenders bring the humiliation upon themselves...

Intellectual Property right is a creators right! Patent exist in every area..Creativity comes to few and it takes them a lot of efforts and time to put it across for free to all the others who enjoy it. It is criminal and down right mean and utterly shameful to plagiarize. Good words anyway doesn't work with them so why don't u take action. We are with those talented writers who despite these plagiarizers continue to write for readers sake. If IF doesn't take measures to stop , u are actually overlooking a menace which will gradually bring the site down.

I am definitely supporting this, 'cause I love reading, and the only reason I'm on IF is to read the excellent works of quite a few brilliant writers!

I am glad Rae that you guys have started this thread like many concerned and genuine people out there. I have frankly no idea if my work is getting plagiarised or not but all I know is I write for the people out there and I honestly don't mind if they are silent readers and don't comment but it is hurtful to know someone is using your work as their own and seems so unfair when I know a large part of our emotional and physical efforts go in making our stories a wonderful journey for everyone. Creating blogs though ensures safety, restricts the number of readers and as a writer I know this would be the last thing a writer would ever want. We don't write for money, we write for the pleasure of others and if any one of us gets cheated on for that, it's disheartening!

I don't understand what is the fun in copying someone else's work and promoting it as your own. If you can't write an original story, then just be an appreciative reader and encourage those who do.

Number 8 on the demand list is the one I have been pining for as a writer of ages!!!! A NOCOPY TAG THAT WORKS ON OTHER THAN JUST THE FIRST PAGE.
