Apologies and Invitations- Chapter Seventeen

"I'm so sorry I won't be at your anniversary tomorrow guys." Geet said to Khushi and Madhu just as Kripa walked out of the kitchen with coffee. "My flight is this evening." Kripa put the coffee cups on the table and shook her head as she sat down.
"And i'm going to be left alone." She complained grabbing a cup for herself. Khushi and Madhu glanced at each other before speaking up.
"Kripa, we met Angad. That night at the club, I was trying to tell you that he was there." Khushi said playing around with her cup.
"He's married." Madhu mumbled with a pitying look on her face. Kripa sighed.
"I know. I met him as well. It's alright. We figured it out. He's already moved on." Kripa told them faking a look of nonchalance. Geet looked away, avoiding the three girls, knowing full well that Kripa was lying.
"So it's alright that he's coming to the anniversary party on Sunday?" Madhu asked her hopefully. Kripa merely nodded.
"Of course! It's your wedding anniversary. You two can invite whoever you'd like." She said laughing as she took a sip of the coffee to avoid speaking anymore. An awkward silence followed until Geet jumped up from the sofa and ran upstairs, confusing everyone. A moment later, she returned with two gifts.
"Here's your anniversary gifts from Maan and I. He sends you both best wishes." Geet said handing the gifts over to them.
"That's adorable. Thank you Geet." Khushi mumbled, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye.
"Oh man, you're so emotional. You started crying seeing me in the club that night too!" Kripa gasped leaning over and throwing a tissue at her causing her to burst out laughing with everyone else. Madhu glanced at the clock behind Kripa and smiled at her and Geet apologetically.
"Khushi and I have to leave now. A few close relatives and friends are coming over tonight." Madhu said getting up after Khushi. After hugs and some more goodbyes, Geet and Kripa were left alone to finish packing Geet's clothes.
"I honestly wish I could've been able to attend their wedding anniversary party." Geet said wistfully as she grabbed her ticket and passport. "And i wish you could've made it to the airport with me." Kripa sighed grabbing her hand.
"I wanted to go to the airport to see you off but I have to be at the hospital. I got a call." Kripa told her, looking extremely apologetic. "Besides, you'll be back in a month! And you'll call me at least twice in the month?"
"Of course! In fact, more than twice! I hope Maan doesn't have any bitchy serial type relatives back home. That would seriously suck." Geet gasped covering her mouth in horror.
"Oh dear Geet. C'mon, don't be so dramatic. Those kinda people don't exist in real. Just in shows." Kripa laughed throwing a teddy bear at her as she fell on the bed, laying down.
"Yes they do. Of course they do! What do you know about the world Kripa? You're so naive." Geet chastised. Kripa rolled her eyes in response.
"Oh right. You're the genius here. Knows the ways of the world, don't you?" Kripa teased her before sitting up and pulling her up. "Look at the time Handa. You need to leave, now. I have to go too." Geet pulled her into a hug, eyes tearing up.
"I'll miss you sooo much Krips. You're the best friend ever." Geet said softly, wiping her tears away. Kripa slapped her gently shaking her head.
"Don't get all emotional on me yet. There's time for your bidaai still." She replied moving the suitcase from the bed to the ground. "Where do i drop you? At Maan's?" Geet nodded, pulling the suitcase behind her.
As the two girls got into the car, Geet started ranting about her fear of heights and airplanes.
"Well for one, the toilet.. scares me."
Kripa gasped turning to look at her for a moment.
"Ohmygosh! Me too! The noise it makes? I used to just hold it in too afraid to use it." Kripa giggled.
"Yeah! And I dunno, I just can't sleep in the air plane. It's too uncomfortable. It's cold too. The thin blanket they give you just isn't enough to keep you warm." Geet complained looking out the window, almost glaring at it for being there.
"Don't take your anger out on my poor window." Kripa laughed stopping the car in front of Maan's house. "Now, go. Jiju is probably waiting." Geet turned a beet red at the 'jiju' and quickly ran out kissing Kripa's cheek as a goodbye.

So.. as I had said.. The PM list has been edited based on the readers that commented on the last update. If however, you still want to be on the list and aren't, comment and let me know or you can drop me a quick PM. I would honestly PM all of you but what with moderating this forum and many other commitments, I want to reduce the number of people I PM by as much as I can. 😳
