Her beautiful eyes scanned around the room. She felt alone amidst so many people. The complicatedness of her life reflected in her eyes. She so wished he would have been here, close to her, hugging her, making her feel secured. But alas, he wasn't.
He had left her. She had told him she needed some time. And he gave her all her lifetime to think. And when she finally came to a conclusion she wanted him near her, he went. He left her all alone in the crowd.
Even today she waited for him to come. She waited for him to come and tell her he loved her and would never leave her again. She waited for him to come and say I Love You, just the way he always had, but he never came.
"Hey Sharon, what are you doing here all alone. Come, let's cut the cake, Rey is waiting for you to come." Her sister Kria said.
"Let's go. I don't want Annie to wait any longer." Sharon replied.
Ever since he had left her, Kria and Rey had tried to make her feel as better as possible but in vain. They knew only his presence could make her happy and content, but against God's wishes, he couldn't come back.
Kria missed her best friend a lot. He had been the one because of whom Kria and her husband Rey were together, celebrating their five year old daughter's birthday. She remembered on her wedding day, he had fulfilled all the duties of an elder brother and gave her hand to Rey, his best friend.
"Rey, promise me. You will always keep my Kria happy. I am giving her to you on the only condition that you promise never to hurt her in her life. And if you do, I wouldn't spare you." He had said at the time of her farewell, possessively.
She knew if she was happy in her life, it was all because of him and his wishes and blessings. Had he not been here, she would still have been far off somewhere, crying to get Rey back in her life. A tear leaked down her eyes as she saw her sister's condition.
She wished he would come back, but he just couldn't.
"Keep Sharon happy Kria. This is all I wish for." He had said, on the fateful day, when he was gone.

Sharon aimlessly walked on the streets after her office thinking about how her life had changed. She remembered how much she had stalled her answer and made him wait for her to confess her love. And when she thought she would, she got the fateful news.
She just wished she could have seen him one last time, breathing for her and loving her. He had always showered his love on her without any expectations of getting it back. He never did anything which risked her comforts.
Sharon did not know when, she reached her apartment. Opening the door with her keys, she went straight inside her room and covered herself in the comforter, hugging the pillow, crying and praying to god to send him back to her.
As she shut her eyes to grab some sleep, only his memories haunted her. And the most painful was to see him on ventilators, fighting to breath and live. Had she told him she loved him, he would never had gone. But now, this was her punishment, to live alone with guilt and fear in her life.
"I Love You Sharon. And I will always. You need time; I give you a life time to think about it again. Just remember, I will always be there beside you." He had once said to her.
And even now, whenever she was in trouble, she could feel him around her, protecting her. She had sometimes also dreamed about him, but he said what she never wanted to hear.
"Move on Sharon. I will never come back!"
"No! I will never move on Swayam. I love you. Please come back to me." She cried hugging his picture. She knew calling him back wouldn't help, but what's the harm in trying?

"Hey Sharon, I was thinking how about we go for dinner tonight?" her colleague Pratik offered.
Sharon simply leered and nodded in a yes. If Swayam wanted her to move on, she would. At least she could let his soul rest in peace. When he was there, she never let him be happy. But she promised herself she would let his soul be happy!
"Cool, so I'll pick you up by eight, if that is fine with you." Pratik asked her.
"Sure Pratik" she replied softly.
She then noticed Pratik smiled and went back to his targets for the day. He was a very hard-working man, and for his age, he earned quite well. She noticed that after her acceptance, his behavior had changed and he became happy.
"At least I could make somebody happy" she thought to herself.

Sharon was all ready in her peach gown when the door bell rang on 8:30. She sighed as her "date" was late. She remembered when she and Swayam had decided to go out; he had been there on the sharp time decided. He was very punctual, be it dates or college submissions.
"Hey Sharon, you look really beautiful I must say." Pratik said.
Sharon just looked at him and remembered her date with him. He had literally stood there at the door and kept staring at her.
How much she tried to forget him and move on, she just could not. Guess that is what true love is!
