Part 4 last part!
NK had heard everything on that camcorder. He had rewinded and re- rewinded and the more he listened and deciphered the more shocked he became...
He could recognise the voices...it was unmistaking ...his jeejaji and khushiji...but it was the dialogue that was making him reel with disgust.
He was in a dilemma...he was shocked..confused...angry...
On one hand he wanted...he needed ...to say something...but what would be the consequences of his revelation...and to whom could he burden with the ugly truth.
Akash was his first choice, he was always the calm, sensible bhai...but now being newly married...he couldn't disturb him...
He couldn't tell Nani or Mami..they would be devastated...and Anjali Di...what about her?...there was no way in the world she could be told ...she was already pregnant with his child and she would crumble.
He loved his sweet Di but he knew she had such low self esteem because of her leg and that had made her needy when it came to her b******d husband...the evil man she loved with her whole heart...no...he couldn't tell her...even though his heart was constricted with guilt keeping this a secret...no he wouldn't tell her.
She would be crushed...
And poor Khushi Ji, ...her being the object of his evil desire...NK could hear clearly her cries of repulsion at him...he couldn't make out what they were doing but the shifting of bodies coming into view at an angle...and the fumbling...certainly made it sound like...like...OMG...as though there was a struggle...!
...but the voices were as plain as day...everything...all the details of their conversation...as clear as crystal.
Yes he didn't know what to do, he didn't want to be the one to rock the boat..
He had thought of telling Arnav a couple of times ...but the hasty marriage with Khushi meant that he was going through enough stress with Nani nagging him and the sombre mood that had been created because of it made him not want to burden him more.
Yes, he teased him and joked with him ...but when it came to the crunch, NK respected Arnav hugely...he always had a soft spot for his Nanav .
Then when Akash had suddenly phoned him a few days ago and told him about the recent events, that Arnav had found that Shyam had been behind his kidnapping and had tried to steal his empire, even tried to have him killed, it was all in the open...
The family had got the best detectives that money could buy involved and Shyam was finally in jail where he belonged...
Anjali Di had been in shock but was getting therapy and the love of her near and dear were helping her through...and she was getting stronger day by day.
Just one thing wasn't making sense... that they had implicated Khushi ji too.
No way! ...He couldn't understand the phone thing...that Akash explained...but he knew his Khushi Ji, ...she was just not that sort of girl..he was a good judge of character...always had been...
Khushi ji just could not be Shyams accomplice...phone or no phone...why wouldn't anyone give her a chance to explain?
Poor Khushi ji...well he was going to get her out of that police cell...as if his life depended on it...poor sweet Khushi ji...he respected her as his Bhabi...and a very, very, good friend...and a friend in need is a friend indeed...
yes...he was going to help her...there must be a good reason why she had that picture on her phone...but Arnav, he imagined, would let his headstrong opinion, and his usual " act now, think later" attitude get the better of him.
Then when Akash had told him in confidence that Nanav said he saw the two of them in each others arms on the terrace ...that's when NK knew he could not keep silent any longer...his cousin had made a monumental mistake.
He took the evidence...clutched on to the camcorder for dear life...he knew his stubborn cousin would not believe just word of mouth ...he had to see things to believe them...and he phoned the airline...for the next flight to Delhi.
Yes. NK knew he could trust his Nanav to take control.
Once Nanav could see that Khushi ji was indeed innocent of the sordid affair Akash had mentioned...he could help her get back home.
He knew they belonged together...ever since the sangeet rehearsal when they couldn't take their eyes off each other...he knew they were in love...
..." Nanav merebhai, when will you ever learn not to be so impulsive when youre angry!" he muttered to himself.
But he knew his cousin wouldn't change...but he also knew that his Nanav had a heart of gold ...as well as an air of authority and power and the ambitious attitude that made him a success wherever he went ...and NK admired him for it...he knew his cousin had the means to bring Khushi ji back home.
After all he wasn't the great Arnav Singh Raizada for nothing.
