Part 38
Arnav and Khushi watched each other while they held hands. They didn't want to let this moment pass. Finally all the misunderstandings were cleared and the person responsible was finally gone from their lives! Arnav couldn't believe one person could do so much damage in many peoples lives. And because of that one person, he had hurt the one person that meant the world to him, the one person that he would die for!
"Khushi, I..." Arnav started.
"Arnav, don't. Look, I already forgave you. Please don't say anything else." she begged him.
"Khushi, I was going to talk about our 6 month contract marriage."
"Oh... I...there are two months left... in..." she said as a tear escaped and fell towards the ground. She didn't know what to do, she knew how unwed mothers and divorced women were treated in society. She couldn't help her tears from falling down her face as she moved her hand to her stomach, as if protecting it from anything anyone said.
"Khushi, don't cry, Jaan. That's not what I meant. What I meant to say is that the contract is no longer valid. We consumated our marriage. Khushi, I got you back, I'm not going to let you go ever again! You are my wife, the mother of my unborn child, the love of my life. I can't live without you." he replied as he wiped away the tears from her eyes. "Khushi, look at me. I love you more than my life. I am not going to let you go. Do you love me?" he asked her.
Khushi looked at him, not knowing what to say after his little speech. He wasn't going to divorce her?! He loved her? She looked into his eyes and saw nothing but love for her in them. "Arnav, I... I...love...you..." she said uncertainly. She felt his hand in hers again and felt a sense of warmth, a sense of love, she felt her heartbeat fasten and she knew her answer. "Arnav, I love you too. I don't want to lose you. I can't! I can't live without you, Arnav!" she cried. She couldn't deny it anymore. She denied it for the past month, but no matter how many times she told her self, she still loved him. And she always would.
Arnav looked at her and saw a woman who was afraid of losing her husband, the father of her child. He saw a little girl who was scared of losing another loved one. He put his hand on her head and softly stroked her silky dark hair, drowning his fingers in the silken threads. He moved his hand to her cheek and lifted her face so she looked at him. He couldn't bear to see his wife hide her face and cry in this way.
"Khushi, I'm not going anywhere. I'm never going to leave. You can't live without me? And do you think I can live without you? Look, I'm not a romantic and I'm not very good with words, but I know this. When you go away, I feel like I can't breathe, when Shyam took you, I felt like my life was slowly being sucked away. When you come near me, I feel as if I have the whole world, time stands still and I don't want to let go. I love you so very much, Khushi!" he said as he wiped away her tears. "Jaan, please stop crying. Khushi, I know I did you wrong, and I will never forget it nor forgive myself. But can we start again, have a New Start?" he asked her.
Khushi wiped a couple stray tears and nodded. She wanted the same thing. "Yes, I love you Arnav, I love you." she said.
Arnav took her hand and held it tightly in his, not willing to let go. With his other hand, he paged a nurse. A minute later, a nurse knocked on the door and walked in. The nurse asked if he was ok, and if he needed something. Arnav asked for another bed to be rolled into his room for his wife. The nurse agreed and left the room. Five minutes later two male nurses walked in with a bed and set it right next to Arnav's bed. The men left and Arnav made Khushi get into the bed. Once in bed, Arnav pulled Khushi close to him and held her hand within his. He breathed in her lavendar and honey scent while he felt the smooth silkiness of her skin on his. He closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling.
Khushi didn't want to get too close to Arnav, afraid she would hurt him since he was still in the critical stage and anything could happen. But he wouldn't let go. So she moved closer, putting her head right next to his, looking into his eyes and him into hers. She held his hand while he held hers and again, she felt peace she hadn't felt in a long time. She felt his strong, yet soft hand hold hers, promising to protect her from everything. She saw the love and felt it too, in his eyes, promising to be there for her. And they both fell asleep looking into each other's eyes, holding hands, not wanting to look away or let go of each other. And finally, their New Start began!
