Arnav finally managed to calm Anjali down after letting her cry until she had no more tears left. Once she stopped crying, she started telling him their childhood stories, one after the other. Arnav wasn't really listening, the stories were going in one ear and going out the other. He was too busy thinking about his wife. Was she ok? Was the baby ok? Did she see a doctor?
He looked up at Nani and saw her nod. He smiled, she knew what he was asking and telling him that both his wife and baby were ok. He sighed in relief. "Can I see her?" he whispered.
Nani walked to his bedside and nodded. She bent down, kissed his forehead, a first in many years, and left the room. She hadn't said much, but just seeing him there, getting better, slowly, gave her aching heart a break. She finally felt peace, that her grandson was better. She had not failed her daughter. She was ok now and she would bring him his wife.
Arnav closed his eyes and felt peaceful. For the furst time in years, he felt as if he had gotten his family back with the one kiss. He had felt as if his own mom, had kissed him herself. For many years after his parents' death, he felt alone in the world. Alone, besides his sister. His grandmother, uncle and aunt had always been there for him, but he always that he had all the world's burden to bare on his shoulders. He finally felt that it was ok to breakdown, to let go of control. He finally felt the weight of the world lift off his shoulders. Now he would just wait for his grandmother to send in his wife.
He still couldn't believe she had forgiven him so easily after all that he did to her. He lay in his bed, thinking about all the things he had done to her, how he had treated her, how he had let her take all the insults for something she never did or had no control over. He thought about the night which should have been their suhaag-raat. Instead, he threw her out of the room. He thought about when he had come down to see Payal and Nani ignoring her. He remembered how he had heard every insult Mami had thrown into her face, and he had listened to everything, then running up to his room, acting as if he had heard nothing. He remembered how on the night of the dance competition, after his and Khushi's performance, how he had hurt her again, and had also let her unprotected for Shyam to lay his dirty hands on her. He thought about how he...
Anjali watched her Chote look at Nani and ask her about his wife. She saw the pain he had in his eyes, worrying about his wife when he himself had just dodged death. A tear escaped her eye as she saw the love he had for Khushi. She was so happy that her Chote had finally found someone to match his personality.
Khushi watched as Nani came out of the room with a smile on her face. "Nani, what happened?!" she said in worry. She ran to the elderly woman and stopped in front of her, wondering what had made her so happy.
"Chote is ok. He wants to see you. He is very worried about you." she said as her smile widened. Khushi looked at her in surprise. She didn't know what to do. She was so happy that he was feeling better, but at the same time, she couldn't forget what he had done to her. She didn't know what to do. She was lost between her heart and brain. She had forgiven him, but she still didn't know what to do. 'Khushi! He is your husband! You need to go see him!' she yelled at herself mentally. She nodded at Nani and slowly walked towards the door. She moved her hand to her stomach, feeling the life growing within her. She opened the door and slowly walked in. She saw Anjali sitting by his bed with him watching the door. She instantly felt the familiar wind blow past her, her hair flowing every which hair. She looked at him and he looked at her, and their eyes locked. Without knowing, slowly walked towards the bed. When she reached the bed, she felt a hand land on her shoulder, breaking her out of the spell that had been cast on her and her husband. She looked at Anjali and saw her smile. She smiled back and Anjali left. Just as she was about to reach for her, to tell her to stay, she felt a hand hold hers, holding her back. She looked behind her, at her husband who was now laying in bed.
"Arnav..." she whispered as a tear fell down her cheek.
"Khushi, don't cry. Please tell me you are ok, that the baby is ok. Did you get checked out by a doctor?" he asked her, more worried about her than himself. He knew what she wanted to say, and he wasn't going to let her say it. He didn't want to hear it anymore. He lifted his hand to her cheek and wiped away the lone tear that had fallen.
"I'm ok. The baby is ok too. Arnav, please don't worry about me, concentrate on getting better yourself." she said.
"Did you see a doctor, Khushi? Khushi, YOU are my life. If something happens to you, then I will be no more..."he said as Khushi covered his lips with her fingers.
"Don't ever say that again. I will see a doctor. Please worry about yourself. Arnav, I can't lose you again. I lost my parents once, I can't take another loss. Arnav, don't leave me again..." she said as she started crying.
"Khushi, you will never lose me. I will be wherever you are. Please don't cry. I can't take your tears." he said as he wiped her tears. He called for the doctor just as he came in through the door.
"Looks like someone is awake. How are you feeling, Mr. Raizada?" he asked as he took the clipboard from the foot of the bed and waited for his answer.
"I'm fine, But doctor, please I need someone to look at my wife." he asked as he looked at his wife who was looking at the ground. At his request, she looked up and started to refuse, but with one look, she stopped.
"Ok, I will have a doctor come and take a look at her. But I still need to look at you. So if I can have Mrs. Raizada leave the room for a couple..."
"She stays. And I want the doctor to come in here. I don't want her leaving my sight." he interrupted.
The doctor looked from husband to wife and finally agreed. He sent a message for a ob/gyn doctor to come up to the room and got started on checking on Arnav's wound and vitals. Just as the doctor finished, a young woman came into the room.
"Well, everything looks fine. You are progressing as expected. But for you to get to this stage so fast, is truly a miracle. The love you two share is so great that it can even beat death. I will be back later. This is Dr. Sharma and she will look at Mrs. Raizada." he said and left the room.
"Hi. I'm Dr. Sharma and I will look at you to make sure everything is ok. Is that ok with you." she asked. They both nodded and she had Khushi sit down on the chair. She went on with checking everything and after a couple minutes, she got up. "Mr and Mrs. Raizada, everything seems fine. Her blood pressure is a little low, but that should be fine as long as she is eating and drinking plenty. She shouldn't let her blood pressure get too low during her pregnancy." she gave a few more tips and let the couple alone.
