Part 6
After much argument from Khushi, Arnav went to the poolside and called Aman while still watching his wife. He made sure everything was fine and to tell him that he wouldn't be coming in for at least a week and Aakash would be in charge until he got back. Then he called for Jai Prakash to have Aakash come and talk to Arnav about the new project that was coming up. Not that it mattered to him now anyways. While he waited for Aakash to come up, he just sat on the couch watching Khushi. He didn't know what to do. He just wanted everything to go back to the ways things were before, without any misunderstandings. He was interrupted by a knock at the door, signaling Aakash's arrival. Arnav got up to unlock the door and walked over to the poolside with his brother. Khushi just sat in bed watching her husband talk on the phone to Aman. He was yelling at him about some new project. She didn't know what to do or say. So she just sat on the bed. Aakash was saying something about the new fashion show they were having next month, but he couldn't concentrate. The words were going in one ear and going out the other. All he really saw was all he had done to hurt his wife. 'How can you call her your wife when you told her it was only in name? That she meant nothing to you?' he thought. 'No, she is my wife. She always has been. She's the one my heart beats for, she's the reason I breathe and live everyday.' Suddenly he remembered their first Holi together. How she had tricked him into drinking the bhaang, something not even his Di had been able to do. When she fainted and him carrying her to this chair, telling her why her heart beats faster when she is around him. "Bhai, what do you think?" Aakash asked him. "Huh, oh umm just do what you feel is right. I trust you with whatever you decide." he replied, still not fully comprehending what had just happened. Aakash looked at his watch and said, "Bhai, I have to leave. I have a meeting to attend to with the Chopra's." Arnav nodded and went inside to his wife who would look everywhere except at him. His heart started beating with pain. Each and every heartbeat pulsed with pain at seeing her trying to avoid his eyes. "Khushi, please look at me," he said with tears forming in his eyes. He walked over to slowly to see her grimacing in pain, even though she tried to hide it. Arnav ran and got the medicine the doctor had left for her. "Khushi, are you ok? Where is the pain? Damn it, Khushi! Tell me!" he screamed in worry. "I'm fine Arnavji. I don't have any pain," she tried to say without showing any pain. he took out two capsules and got a glass of water and handed them both to her, after threatening to tell Di, Payal and Nani. After she took the pills, a while later, Arnav could tell the pills were affecting her cause she started feeling really tired. She wouldn't say anything, but again with the threatening to tell everyone, she let him help her into bed. He stayed with her until she fell asleep. Because she wouldn't let him touch her, he just knelt by the bedside and fell asleep with his head by her hand and his hand on hers. For the first time since this whole mess had started, they both felt whole and peaceful, even in their sleep.
