part 24
"YOU! What are you doing here?!".Khushi yelled at the person standing at the door. "What do you want?"
Arnav walked to the door to see who Khushi was yelling at. When he saw, his face turned red with anger and instinctively put his arm around his wife's waist.
"Khushiji, Saale Sahib, Rani Saahiba asked me to call you down for breakfast. That is all." he smiled as he looked at Khushi, then Arnav and back at Khushi. With that, he turned and went downstairs.
Arnav watched his back as he made his way downstairs, wishing he would fall. He closed the door and moved towards Khushi who backed up against the door. He willed himself to calm down, but then he would remember the way that bas***d looked at his wife. He looked at Khushi and saw fear and concern in her eyes. He closed his eyes and tried to calm down. 'For Khushi and the baby's sake' he told himself.
Khushi could see how angry Arnav had gotten. She saw how close he was to tearing that man apart. But when he closed the door, she could also see how hard he was trying to calm down. When she saw the fire in his eyes, she became afraid. Not afraid of him hiring her, but that he might do something else. She knew he would never hit her. She was afraid that he would hurt himself or Shyam. She didn't want that, yet. She knew how much that would hurt Di and she didn't want to hurt Di. She slowly moved backward as he moved foreword until she hit the door. She saw him close his eyes to try to calm down. She suddenly had this itch, the desire to calm him down herself. She moved closer to him and raised her hand to cup his cheek. She felt him tense up and then relax. She watched him until he opened his eyes.
Arnav felt a soft hand touch his cheek. He tensed, surprised at this gesture, then relaxed, the touch calming him. He opened his eyes to find Khushi in front of him, her right hand on his cheek. He lifted his hand to hold her hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed his hand and loved the way her skin felt against his lips.
"I'm fine now. Thank you." he looked at her. He turned to open the door and said, "Let's go, everybody must be waiting for us." She nodded and they left the room hand in hand. As they neared the steps, Arnav felt Khushi tighten her gold on his arm. He knew she was afraid. He squeezed her hand to reassure her that he will be there to protect her.
With each step they took down the stairs, Khushi was becoming more and more scared. But Shyam wasn't stupid enough to try anything in front of Arnav, besides making a couple snide comments, was he? They reached the table and everybody said good morning and asked them how their night was. They replied good, because each had slept peacefully and had gotten their sleep. Arnav continued to hold her hand under the table while she ate, making her feel better.
After breakfast, Payal and Khushi cleared the table while talking. Arnav had set up his laptop close by so he could keep an eye on Khushi. He smiled at how she was talking and laughing with her sister. Anjali came down and joined the two sisters. He three laughed and talked as I'd they had known each other for years. Soon, that smile would be wiped off his sister's face. This saddened and angered him. She had gone through a lot, for him. She deserves happiness, not a husband who cheats on her. He would give her that.
"Di, Payal, I need Khushi. If it's alright with you." he asked as he walked over to them. They nodded and giggled while Arnav took Khushi by the hand and walked out the door.
"Arnav... where are we going?" she asked.
"I have to go to the office and then I want to show you something." he replied as they reaches his car. He opened the door and helped her sit. He reached over and buckled her in, closed the door and went around the front to his side. He started and they left for the office and whatever he was going to show her.
They reached AR and he had her wait in the lobby with the two security guards while he did whatever he had to. He gave them orders not to let her out of their sight. Khushi greeted the guards who were sad that they didn't see her as often. She just replied that she was busy at home, but she would try to stop in more often. She was so caught up in her conversation with the guards, that she didn't notice the man come up behind her. He grabbed her arm and gently turned her around.
"Shyamji! What are you doing here?" she questioned as she tried to free herself.
The two guards stepped closer and said, "Sir, you need to let her go now."
"Arre, Saale Sahib called me and asked me to come take her home cause he got caught up in some work. He said he didn't want to keep her here because of her delicate condition. What kind of brother-in-law would I be to refuse to do something for him?" he told the guards.
"It's ok, I will stay here until Arnav finished." Khushi said, fear setting in. She knew Arnav hadn't called him. She didn't know what this man was capable of. And she didn't want to find out.
Shyam tightened his hold on her arm. He was getting frustrated. How dare she mention his name in front of her. Didn't she know how much it hurt him to hear her talking about Arnav. He was the one that loved her. Not Arnav. Arnav had married her for his own reasons, had hurt her so much, yet she would rather be with that man than him. What was wrong with her?!
"Come on Khushi. Remember, you are with a child. Arnav wouldn't want anything to happen to you." he replied as he slowly pulled her away.
She knew se couldn't do anything if Arnav wasn't here. So she did the only thing she could. She screamed, "ARNAV!!!" At this, Shyam covered her mouth and took off with her. He threw her into the car he had come in and drove off.
