Part 9
Foolish decision
Next morning Naina woke up with the bright sun rays resting onto her eyes. It was almost forgotten where she was until she saw the Italian hotel room. It had been days since she had been captive and the person whom she remembered the most was her mother. She wanted to talk to her, cry to her and tell her all her worries and troubles. If she just got one chance to talk to her.
After a quick shower she changed and went towards the door to leave the room. At first she opened it slowly to see whether anyone was outside. Of course she was mostly concerned with one person and if he was there then she had to be careful.
It was a rather surprise to see the hall of the suite empty. She looked over at the table if Rajveer sat there yet it was empty. He wasn't even by the sofas. Then probably he was in his room so perhaps she didn't have to leave her room that early.
Just then one of the security guards almost frightened her by coming in sight. She held onto her nerves to steady them. The guard told her that Rajveer had gone out on important business and shall return later in the evening.
It sounded wonderful that she would be free from him for the whole day yet she didn't know why she felt a bit hallow inside. She didn't like the fact that he wasn't around as if she missed him. She should have celebrated her freedom but she just couldn't.
It really wasn't her freedom since the guards had strict orders to not let her out of the suite. At least he took her out with him but here when she was alone she was just in another prison.
After a light breakfast she roamed around the hall for a while yet was too restless to sit on the sofas so she retired back to her room and lied down for a while. That didn't seem to help either as the thought of him not being there bugged her a lot. She just couldn't find any peace so she quietly crept out of her room and looked right and left. The guards were in position.
However she felt too trapped within her room so she went out into the hall anyways and walked towards Rajveer's room. A place where she hadn't been yet. Not even back at his fortress, so she was hesitant whether to go in or not. Then again she didn't think anyone would stop her so she gradually twisted the door handle and waited for the door to open.
His bedroom was much bigger than hers and much classier. The curtains were off white with a shade of orange and brown. The bedsheets complimented the interior and the Italian scenery paintings were amazing. She loved the one with the gondolas and the romantic couple sat within it. The river looked very beautiful and she imagined if he would ever take her there. Then the thought was erased as she couldn't believe why she imagined going anywhere with him. She should have thought of running as far away as possible.
There had to be a way out somehow. She just looked through his things in the closet yet only found his very expensive suits hung and clothes neatly folded. The man surely liked everything to be perfect. No wonder he always expected her to eat at the proper time.
She closed the closet and returned back and searched through the drawers. She didn't exactly know what she wanted yet just out of curiosity she looked. There was a big disappointment when she noticed there wasn't a phone anywhere in the suite. He must have taken care of it on purpose so no one could either call there or anyone could call out. Of course he used his own personal phone. Her hopes of calling her mother died.
Luck wasn't that dreadful as she came across a travel pouch and when she opened it she felt as if Heaven opened the doors for her. In front laid her passport along with his. Many thoughts ran within her head as to how he got it? Yet immediately they escaped too because she remembered if a man was powerful enough to kidnap her and not leave a trace, then he was very much capable of getting such a small thing such as a passport. Then again he could have just created a fake one as far as she knew.
Her ticket of escape lay in her hands and she just had to figure out a way to leave the suite without getting caught. It was dangerous yet she knew it was the only opportunity she had since the devil was on vacation.
Many paces up and down were taken and several plans were made yet she knew all of them would fail so she just had to find a very good full proof plan. The room felt suffocated so she stepped outside onto the balcony and looked down upon Venice. The city was beautiful with the different shaped houses and buildings and the canals were visible in the near distance. The light breeze cooled her overstressed nerves and just then she got her plan.
There was a side ladder right under the railing which reached down to the next floor. Lucky for her it belonged to a scaffolding frame, which was there for renovation on the other floors. It was perfect.
The height was too high and she knew that the risk was too high as well. The scaffolding wasn't safe but she had to take the chance if she wanted her road to freedom. She returned back inside the room and took her passport and then found some random hundred dollar notes so stuffed them also into her trouser pocket and then reached to the frame outside.
She prayed to lord and took a deep breath and then with courage climbed onto the frame which obviously shaked and made her lose balance but she held onto the wall to secure herself. It was very scary but she couldn't take her steps back. If she braved it then she wouldn't have to face Rajveer again.
The first floor down was done with difficulty and she praised the lord for have had kept her alive and safe. She just didn't look down as that would break her courage and she would be forced to climb back up which was not an option.
Two to three floors down, she held onto the balcony and just saved herself from dieing. It was very hard work and she just wished that the sliding doors were open so she could escape from the room. The thought of climbing down further haunted her and she knew she wouldn't survive it. The frame was very loose and even though her weight was light, it wasn't light enough for the frame to take it.
Definitely luck was on her side as the door wasn't locked and she slid it open. The room also looked empty which was just another plus point in her basket. The route was clear and once she was out in the corridor she noticed only a few housekeeping going here and there. That wasn't much harmful so confidently she walked down passed them and reached the elevators.
Her heart was overwhelmed with the idea of being free. She would be able to go back home and then probably escape to a place where Rajveer would never be able to find her.
There was almost a skip in her step as she reached the lobby and stepped out of the main doors of the hotel. The fresh air, from down below, felt much different from right above.
Everything was done and she just hauled a taxi and excitement filled her to the core just like a five year old felt on receiving a new present on their birthday. She was on her way to the airport, back to her home.
Somewhere the calm water of the Grand Canal was disturbed by the fast motion of two speed boats racing off as if there was a marathon. The air was full of the loud noise and onlookers found it rather disturbing since the water nearly splashed around onto the banks or on the passing by gondalas.
Both the drivers were too eager to out beat the other to have had paid attention to anything else. It was a mad chase to escape the other because it wasn't just any ordinary person. It was yet another traitor who had escaped from Rajveer's hands and then was in desperate need to escape his fate. He knew very well that if he was caught then it would be his last day.
The traitor raced on as he pushed down the throttle further and turned a sharp curve, just had missed the bank wall.
Rajveer was determined as always to catch his prey so he hadn't given up. His boat also went in high speed to over take the traitor and capture him. He wasn't alone obviously since he was clever enough to spread his men out to catch the rat from other places.
A big obstruction appeared out of of nowhere and the traitor almost crashed against it but he took a lucky turn yet the high speed made his boat tip over to the right but he balanced it in good time to escape on further.
However for Rajveer the obstruction came too fast and his boat crashed against the canal barge. He jumped in the water just in time and escaped the horrible accident yet was highly disappointed because his catch had escaped from his trap.
Victory appeared like a boon to the traitor as he raced off yet his stupidity hadn't made him realize that Rajveer's network was vastly spread out so escaping him was almost impossible for anyone. Just then he found two other speed boats, heading his direction and he turned to the left immediately but the speed took him off guard and his boat flipped over entirely and he was in the cold water.
Meanwhile Naina's trip took an ugly turn as she realized she had dozed off through the long drive towards the airport yet when she woke up she seemed stranded. The first reaction was obviously, fear because she wasn't where she had expected and the driver was also missing. She panicked and looked around with desperate need but no one was around at all. Then another shock hit her hard when she saw that all the money and her passport were also missing. It was like she had escaped from hell and dropped back into the deep fire pit.
It was terrible and she knew it. Where was she and how was she going to get out of there without any means? She had less choice so she stepped out and just by looking at the empty road she cried out loud for ever had took the foolish decision of running away.
Of course she knew that if she remained in the city then Rajveer would easily find her again and the consequences scared her further. He wouldn't exactly welcome her with open arms yet would be very angry. She just had to find a way to run away from his grasp. It sounded impossible without any money or her passport but she still had to try someway or the other, so she just took upon the unknown road towards a dangerous journey.
Evening at the suite
"Shut up!" Rajveer was enraged after he just slapped nearly all his guards. He couldn't believe they had been so careless and had let Naina escape from the suite. He had given them strict orders to have kept an eye on her all the time yet they disobeyed him and he saw the result. It was just not done and he hated disappointments. "I expect her to be found within the next two hours or all of you shall not be alive to see tomorrow's day."
Rajveer's words were permanent and everyone knew he meant each and everything he said so the guards hurried off to their duties. Of course they were very nervous because none of them wanted to lose their lives. They didn't want to fail.
Her disobedience left a terrible mark and Rajveer was more than furious. All the available things in his bedroom had been thrown out of frustration and he just stood amongst the shattered pieces. He couldn't believe she ran away even after he did so much for her. He had offered her the world and still she was ungrateful enough to escape. "Yeh tum ne theek nahi kiya Naina or ab tumhe iski keemat chukani paregi." He grunted and then went towards his closet and took out his gun. His anger had reached to such extent that he himself was unsure what he would have done if she came in front of him. He would teach her a lesson which never shall be forgotten and then he will see how she disobeyed him again.
Venice city
With no money or any aid it was very difficult for Naina to have travelled around Venice. Plus it was no sightseeing tour yet she took the opportunity of going around bravely since it was her only chance to find any place where Rajveer wouldn't find her.
After she walked away from the lonely road where she was stranded, she must have walked quite some much before she reached a beautiful Italian church. She found it to be the perfect place to get help so she hopped inside and at first was aghasted by the engrossing interiors. It was so colourful and magical. The place had God everywhere and she knew she wouldn't return empty handed.
There were a few people sat on the benches silently praying so she walked straight up towards the Lord Jesus statue and first of all did a silent prayer of her own. She just wanted the road to freedom.
Unfortunately the people turned out to be some locals who couldn't understand English very well so she was stuck.
She remained there till the afternoon, with the hope of some hope yet nothing happened. It didn't look that popular since after the people she met in the morning, she didn't find anyone else step in.
There really wasn't any point to stay there further yet she was glad about one thing that she was able to get some food there. She was famished since breakfast and the horror of being penniless had tensed her that she would have to starve till death if no help was found quickly.
It wasn't a flourished meal but it satisfied her appetite for the time being. Once outside the church she was unsure on which road to take and where she would end up being. Then again she thought it was a good opportunity to roam around the city and if not going into places, she could atleast just enjoy their views from the outside. She knew, anything was possible and Rajveer could have found her again anytime, so she wanted to take advantage of the somewhat freedom she had.
Hencefourth began her unique sight seeing tour which she managed without a penny in her pocket. She walked and walked but enjoyed each part of it since the view of the canals and Italian architecture was mind blowing. It was a dream come true to stand onto the Rialto Bridge which simply blew away all her worries and fear. She even forgot the fact about her being Rajveer's prisoner.
Since she was a simple woman with the normal desires and fantasies of every woman next door, she loved the smallest things that came into view. The place where she enjoyed the most was San Marco's Square. The flutter of the pigeons all around lightened her heart and she felt just like them, free to fly away.
The attractions had engrossed her to the extent that she hadn't realized the time at all. The whole day was spent and as it got dark, the streets became quieter and people retired either to the restaurants for dinner or the night clubs for a drink. To have had made it worse, the weather had taken a toll on her as the wind had become bit chilly and to top it the rain had begun as if it was out there for war. She knew it wasn't possible for her to go into any of the buildings since she didn't have any money so she ran around to find any hotel from which she could get proper help.
It wasn't exactly a hotel but she found many people around there so she took the risk. Perhaps it was a place where she would get help and if not then at least a place to stay for the night.
Unknown to her she had accidentally gone into the den of the hookers and that night it was strongly active like every night. It was after nine in the evening, which was the most popular time for the red light area. It didn't strike her since she was busy in drying herself under the small shelter she found.
The wet clothes had made her more desirable and many dirty eyes turned towards her. The way she tried to dry her arms, neck and upper chest totally aroused many and they wanted her for sure.
Naina looked around oblivious of the vultures that were ready to pounce on her. She wondered if the people around would be helpful or not, yet soon after asking some she realized something and her heart shuddered. Anxiety filled throughout because it finally sunk in where she was. The dirty remarks she got from many disturbed her and she even pushed them off but it wasn't easy since she herself had landed herself in that mess. She shouldn't have been too nave and went anywhere especially at that hour. She was alone and scared and wished so much that Rajveer would have been there.
Just as that thought ended, a black BMW stopped in front of her and the initial assumption was that it was none other than the devil himself but when the window opened, she was more shocked to see that it was the devil's advocate.
