Part 23
Sid had just finished with his last patient. He let out a sigh of relief at finally being done. Even though today had been a great clinic day, filled with great news for all the children and their families. He was glad to be done. It certainly helped put things back into perspective for him, what had seemed like the end of the world a few hours ago no longer felt important. He was glad he had his health and family, and that the people he loved were well. His hand started to reach for his phone wanting to let one of those people know he was glad that she was there for him when he needed her and that he wasn't upset with her for the things she had told him. Sid knew the only reason Avni hadn't called him today was because she was unsure of how he felt about the truths she had forced upon him. She was a woman that wanted the best for everyone around her and he knew the only reason she had even forced the issue was because she knew in hindsight he would've regretted whatever would have come out of his mouth. He couldn't help but wonder at how amazing the woman was, he hadn't even told her about his past completely and yet she was able to read the situation so clearly yesterday that she knew who Riddhima was without even hearing about her. Sid began dialing Avni's number when he saw someone in a flurry of bright pink and teal walk by his office. He had to take a second look to realize that he knew that someone. He immediately hit the end button on his phone and got up to chase the ball of bright color.

Sue was trying to get a grasp of everything that was going on. She had taken the day off from work figuring Shilpa would be at home and that she could keep her company. She already knew Sid had a half day so she hoped that by the afternoon Shilpa would be in shape to hang out all together and that by dinner time they could bring the kids over and all just hang out at the pool as the weather had started to warm up. Except when she had awoken it was to an empty house. She wandered from room to room calling out Shilpa's name but to no avail. She tried her cell but got no response, she was about call Sid to ask if he knew what was up when the doorbell rang. She ran towards the door thinking that Shilpa had stepped out early in the morning and had forgetten her keys. She pulled the door open with a smile of relief and out of breath, "Shilps!!! Geez, you scared the crap out of me. I took the day off to hang with you and what do I find? An empty house."
Avni had an amused smile on her face as she watched Sue ramble on. But the smile only lasted a few seconds because as soon as Sue came into sight Avni lost her grip on Siddhant who took advantaged and rammed straight at Sue's legs. "Siddhant!" yelled Avni, but it was pointless Siddhant was already latched onto Sue. Who had no choice but to realize that who she had thought was Shilpa, was in fact Avni. Sue recovered quickly, not that she really had a choice, and croached down to pick up Siddhant and laughingly gave him a tight hug, "Hey buddy! What's up? I didn't expect you but I sure am glad to see you." Siddhant proceeded to fill Sue in on the happenings of his ever so busy life. And Sue played along, while wrapping her empty arm around Avni giving her a quick hug and ushering her inside.

Sid followed the ball of color through half of the hospital. As he took the last corner he had look around because he had lost her. His head dropped down as he let out a sigh of defeat, I was so close I can't believe she slipped out of my fingers again. My luck sure likes to swing up and down yesterday down, this morning up, now down. What the heck is going on to my steady life? It's almost like that time, when she was in my life. Before Sid could get too lost in his past something caught the corner of his eye, he turned his head and realized he hadn't lost her after all. He quickly caught up to her grasped her elbow and pulled her into the closest empty room. She spun around with fire in her eyes and words of venom on the edge of her tongue. They both stared into each other's eyes waiting to see who would be the first to talk.

Sue continued talking to Siddhant as she led everyone to the living room. She then set Siddhant down and got him settled with a movie from Sid's collection. Meanwhile, Avni set down her things and settled down on the coach with Mahi. She finally felt herself relaxing upon seeing the interaction between Siddhant and Sue, they were like two peas in a pod. Watching them interact she could almost imagine how Sue and Sid looked when they were little kids.
