That left both of them beaming with joy. Riddhima immediately hugged her husband tight saying "I hadn't ever expected such words for us from papa. I was glad with the thought that they had accepted you whole heartedly. Every parent wishes the best for their child. Par jab dil se aisey dua dete hai to woh zaroor such hota hai."
A: Haan Riddhima, unki baatein sunkar dil ko sukoon mill gaya. It's only these blessings which help us get through the hardships which we may face in life. I'm very happy that I could help them. Today has been a wonderful day. Ani ne aaj pehli baar 'mama' kaha. I think that was the most auspicious thing. That's why all my efforts paid off and the problem got resolved. And we ended up with such wonderful blessings. Remember you got the appointment letter for your job at the hospital on the day Akshat had said "mama" for the first time?
She looked at him stunned, for a minute wondering how he knew that. As if reading he mind, "tumne aisey hi to likha tha diary mein," he said, with his charming, dimpled smile. Had he memorized the whole diary, she wondered but couldn't resist rising on her toes, to kiss his cute dimples. "Dr. Armaan Mallik you'll never cease surprizing me," she said as she dragged him towards the steps and they started moving downstairs. They had the conference in the upstairs room, so that they wouldn't be disturbed.
A: That's not fair.
Seeing her looking puzzled, he continued, "What crime did the other cheek do? Why did you bestow your kiss only on one cheek?" She burst laughing and said, "It wasn't for the cheek it was meant for that irresistable dimple."
A: Arrey, cheek ko bura nahi lagega?
"Ok now the cheek also won't complain" she said kissing his cheek again. He immediately turned his other cheek towards her "aur issey bura laga to?" They were at the bottom of the stairs then. She just giggled at his nautanki and once again stood on her toes and was kissing the other cheek, when the light of a torch fell on them. Riddhima moved back, and they saw kaka standing with the torchlight in his hand. Immediately she moved behind Armaan to hide herself.
"Achanak meri aankh khuli aur mujhe laga ke main shayad darwaza lock karna bhool gaya. Wahi dekhne aaya tha," kaka said apologetically. Armaan seemed to be the only one who did not feel anything awkward. He said "Koi baat nahi kaka, aap jaakar soiye. Main darwaza check kar leta hoon."
Kaka turned to return to his room muttering "Theek hai beta." Armaan pulled Riddhima from behind his back asking "Why are you hiding? We weren't doing anything wrong. By the way, where were we?" She pushed him towards the front door saying "you were going to check the lock," and she headed towards their bedroom. He laughed as he walked to the door.
When he walked into their room with a bottle of water in his hand she was in the washroom. His night clothes were laid on the bed. He undid the buttons of his shirt and was trying to pull one arm out of the shirt, when she came from the back and pulled it out.
R: I was coming na? Why are you straining the muscles by trying to do things yourself?
He immediately turned around saying, "I'm all yours, go ahead undress me," and winked. "Armaaan" she shouted and gave him a long hard stare.
A: I think I should be rewarded for all the good work I did today.
When she continued with her work of changing his clothes without paying heed to his blabbering, he shocked her by saying "A repeat performance of last night, or rather early this morning, would be fine." She gave a stupid grin saying, "You wish. Dr. Armaan Mallik, you've strained yourself enough for a day. You better lie down and sleep quietly, or else I'll have to get the vial of morphine."
He pouted and hung his head down, heading towards the washroom. Then he came and lay down quietly on his side of the bed. Seeing him do her bidding without protesting, she was surprised. She went close to him, pulled his good arm which was resting on his stomach, and snuggled close to him. Kissing him on his neck she simply said "I love you" and snuggled closer. As she pulled his arm around her waist, he opened his eyes a wee bit, pulled her closer and bent down and laid a sweet kiss on her lips, saying "I love you too sweetheart" and adding "this is even more intoxicating than the morphine." When she smiled at him, he bid her goodnight and soon both were asleep.
When Armaan opened his eyes a glorious sight welcomed him. Her peaceful face as she lay fast asleep on his chest and her silken hair flying all over his face. He was admiring her beauty when he heard Ani's whimper. That was perhaps what woke him up in the first place. He proceeded to shift Riddhima's head to the pillow as he didn't want to wake her up from her sound sleep. But she snuggled further into him. He loved it when she did that. Even during the night whenever he had shift her due to pain, she was back to the same position in a few minutes. Somehow he managed to shift her and got up from the bed.
He eyes brimmed with tears when he saw the little one raise his hands towards him uttering "dadada". He sat down and kissed the baby several times, before pushing his cot outside. Akka hadn't come in as yet. She had gone home the previous evening. He asked kaka to hand over Ani to him and get his bottle.
K: rehnedo beta, main ussey bottle pila deta hoon. Tum kaise pila paoge?
A: Nahi kaka main pila doonga.
As kaka handed Ani to him, he carried him in his left arm and sat on the sofa. Both father and son exchanged kisses till kaka brought the feeding bottle. Armaan settled him in the crook of his left arm and was trying to hold the bottle with the right hand fingers. At once Ani caught hold of the bottle with both his hands. Armaan was really surprised because whenever akka fed him, he would be hitting the bottle with his hands so hard, that it sometimes slipped from her hands and fell on the floor. Thankfully they were of the unbreakable types. Armaan became very emotional once again with the thought how understanding even tiny tots could be. But once his stomach was full, Ani pushed away the bottle and got ready to move down to the floor.
He was ready to begin his day with all the mischief he could manage to get into. Armaan tried to hold him up and burp him but he would remain in his arms. He put him on the floor and went to get his diaper, But when he tried to change him he twisted and turned so much that he was unable to manage him with his one hand. Thankfully akka arrived just then and took charge of him.
Then kaka brought his coffee and he proceeded to Akshat's room to wake him up. With all their masti, Armaan got him ready just like they used to when Riddhima was in Chennai. Only when they came out of his room and Akshat saw Ani playing he asked "mama kahan hai?"
A: So rahi hai.
Ak: Unki tabheeyat theek nahi hai kya?
A: Nahi, nahi, kal humlog tumhare nanaji se aur doosre logonse baat kar rahe the to bahut late ho gaya tha. Is liye woh so rahi hai.
Ak: Main unhe uthaon?
A: Nahi beta, let her sleep. Waise bhi hum sab ki seva karte karte woh thakh jaati hogi.
AK: Phir hum unhe chodkar naashta karenge?
A: Haan, warna tumhe school ke liye late ho jaayega.
Today Akshat took his mama's role, feeding his dad, his little brother and himself. Armaan had said he could eat by himelf, with a spoon, as kaka had made idli-sambhar for breakfast. But Akshat wouldn't hear of it. That's how Riddhima found her family when she walked out of her bedroom. Ani was trying to get some Sambhar and his bhai was telling him "Woh tumhe nahi milega. Isssssssssss ahhhh theeka hai." He was making actions to show him that it was pungent. She was admiring them from a distance. But suddenly all the three heads turned towards her as if she she were a magnet and they were pieces of iron. Undoubtedly she was centre of their universe.
She joined them at the table making a long face and complaining "Shab log mujhe chodkal nashta kal lahe hai. Kishine mujhe nahi uthaya."
Ak: Aap bahut thaki hui thi na? Achcha, abhi main aapko bhi khilata hoon.
He sat on the table, placing the eatables and sambhar far away from the reach of his brother, who was now on his mama's lap, more interested in biting her (his way of kissing) than the Sambhar.
A few days passed in this manner with Armaan being pampered by the whole family, while he was busy making arrangements to get the paper work with the financers, completed. They would be shareholders of Sanjeevani but the major shares would be in Dr. Shashank's hands so that even if they all joined forces they would not be able to overthrow him.
One morning Armaan got a call from an unknown number. On speaking he understood that it was his house-owner. He was coming to India on a holiday and was planning to sell off the house finally. He made the first offer to him. Armaan said they could meet personally and talk about it. He didn't mention it to Riddhima though. When he had the money ready and wanted to purchase the house the owner was not willing to sell it. Now, when the owner was ready, his finances were at the rockbottom as he had pumped everything into Sanjeevani.
He knew Ridhima loved this house and considered it very lucky. He had to get it for her, he made a promise to himself. He would talk to the owner and ask for some time.
