Part 103

On Sunday morning Armaan woke up early and went for a jog. After returning he settled on the sofa not wanting to disturb the kids and Riddhima who were still sleeping. He was sipping his coffee and surfing the TV when there was a call from Rahul. He had heard about Sanjeevani from Atul-Anjie and had called. Armaan enthusiastically picked the phone, as he had not spoken to him since the last few days. During the days following the operation, Rahul and Muskaan used to call everyday to enquire about his condition.

A: Arrey Rahul, kaisa hai yaar?

Ra: tu bata, tera shoulder theek hai? Set ho gaya? Aur hospital kab se join kar raha hai?

A: Main to ab kaafi theek hoon. Shoulder is fine. Hospital next week hi join karoonga.

Ra: Riddhima to teri total pampering karti hogi. Yaar, waise tu bahut lucky hai.

A: Bilkul, bilkul. Ab uske pampering ka itna aadat ho gaya hai, permenantly ghar par uske saath rehne ka mann karta hai. So in a way I'm glad that I met with this accident. I really got to spend time with her. I missed her a lot when she was in Chennai.

Ra: Ok, jokes apart, I heard you had a big hand in saving Sanjeevani once again.

A: Wrong, I had a hand in saving Sanjeevani only this time.

Ra: I meant about Sanjeevani being in a problem once again. But kuch bhi bol tere itne badiya contacts, hai yaar. You pull strings and the jigsaw puzzle falls into place. Anyways, Congrats that you were able to resolve the problem.

A: Thanks, Muskaan aur Rohan kaise hain? Aur doosre ka kuch planning chal raha hai ke nahi?

Ra: Paagal hai kya, ek ne naak mein dum kar rakha hai. Uski summer vacation chal rahi hai and we don't have any time to spend with him. Doosre ka to hum soch bhi nahi sakte. Ab to yahan garmi itni hai ke the hospital is always full.

A: Hospital full hai to achcha hi na? You people must be making good money. Ek kaam kar, hafte, dus din ke liye Munnar aajao.

Ra: Dil to bahut karta hai aur Muskaan bhi bahut dinon se vacation karna chahthi hai, par it's impossible yaar.

A: Tu sirf hospital work delegate kar, baaki sab mujpe chod de. Aaj kal bahut free time hai, sab arrange kar loonga. By the way Muskaan wahan hai kya?

Ra: Nahi woh walk ke liye gayi hai.

A: Muskaan aur itni subah subah walk par?

Ra: Actually Nikki ussey kuch baat karna chahthi thi isliye dono walk pe gaye hain.

A: Ok hum ussey baad mein baat karte hain.

After Riddhima woke up Armaan told her about Rahul's call and both of them called up Muskaan. They put the call on loudspeaker so that both could hear and talk. When they spoke to her about their holidaying in Munnar, she didn't sound so enthusiastic. That was so unlike Muskaan. Both Riddhima and Armaan were worried. On further enquiry she revealed that Nikki was having some problem. Abhi seemed to be jealous of their baby and didn't like her devoting so much time to the baby.

Armaan at once said "Ek kaam karte hain, unhe bhi yahan chutti manane ke liye bula lete hain. What say? Then I'll sort out their problem also.

M: Par Nikki ne mana kiya hai kisi ko batane se.

A: No problem. Main Abhi se baat karoonga. Usey kahoonga ke tum dono Rohan ko lekar yahan chutti mananey aa rahe ho, to woh aur Nikki bhi Akshita ko lekar aaye.

M: ok if you can convince him it's fine.

A: We'll get back to you later, bye.

Seeing Riddhima staring at him open mouthed, he raised his eyebrows questiongly "Kya? Aisey kya dekh rahi ho?"

R: Armaan are you mad? You are inviting Abhi and Nikki here, to spend some days with us, in our house?

A: What's wrong with that? Would it be uncomfortable for you, having Abhi in the house?

R: Of course!

"Even if I'm with you?" he asked softly pulling her into his arms.

R: Armaan I don't want to remember those seven years. I'm trying to erase it from my memory. If they are here it will bring back all those memories.

A: Our mind is in our control. You can make it think what you want it to. Think that you never knew Abhi before he married Nikki. Nikki is your friend and Abhi is her husband. Then you won't find any awkwardness.

R: Ok, what about him? Won't he find it difficult?

A: That's entirely in our hands, how we make him comfortable here. Riddhima they are our friends, if they having problems in their life, we have to help them out. I want Abhi to see that spending time as a couple is important, but spending time with kids is also fun. He's never bonded with anyone except Nikki. He needs to bond with Akshita. Probably he wants to, but doesn't know how to. Seeing our family bonding could be a good lesson for him.

For a few seconds Riddhima thought silently. Then pulling his cheeks she said "You are right as usual Dr. Armaan Mallik." They were koochi coooing and our darling Ani's antennas stood up. He woke up with a wail.

A: I was just wondering, how come our hero hasn't made his presence known?

Riddhima laughed and said "Armaan, it's 8.30. I fed him and put him to sleep at 6. How much longer can he sleep?" Par aaj Akshat ko kya hua? He's not up yet?

A: You give this fellow his cereal and I'll wake up Akshat.

When he went to Akshat's room he was surprised to see him still asleep. When he touched him to wake him up, his body was hot. He opened his eyes a bit feeling his touch and said "Dad I'm feeling very cold." At once Armaan got the thermometer and found that he had fever and he also started coughing. He went and brought him a warm cup of Haldi doodh and some biscuits. He forcefully fed him, though Akshat refused to have it. Then he gave him a dose of paracetamol and covered him properly with the sheet.

After feeding Ani the cereal, Riddhima came looking why Akshat and Armaan had not come for breakfast still. Seeing Armaan sitting next to Akshat and patting his hair, she asked "Kya hua? Why is he still asleep?"

A: He's coughing and is also running slight temperature. Maine usey haldi doodh pila diya and also made him a couple of biscuits.

She came near and touched his forehead.

A: "I've given him crocin. Do we have any expectorant in the house?"

R: There should be.

She went to check giving Ani to akka. But he caught hold of her dupatta saying "mamamamama". She was reminded of Armaan's fascination with her dupatta during their internship days. "Ek minute main bhai ko davayi dekar aati hoon," she said pulling at her dupatta. She found the syrup and went to Akshat's room. He was coughing and Armaan was holding him in his arms. She was giving Akshat the medicine when Armaan's cell rang. He picked it up and heard the house-owner. He laid Akshat on the bed and walked out. Riddhima was wondering whose phone it was when Akshat drew her attention. "Mama gala bahut dukh raha hai." Riddhima took him on her lap and said "Davaiye li hai na. Theek ho jayega. Try to sleep, then you'll fell better." Soon he fell asleep and she was feeling hungry.

She silently left the room and went to look for Armaan. Ani was playing on the dining room floor but Armaan was not there. He was outside in the garden and when she went near she heard him saying "please sir, I totally understand, but," Then he looked up and saw her. He asked to go in and indicated that he would join her in 5 minutes by moving the five fingers of his bangaged arm. But she didn't move.

A: Ok I'll come and meet you this aftenoon. Tell me where we can meet."

HO: I'll come there, to the house.

A: How about MSHC at 4 pm?

HO: if someone sees me there they'll think I have some problem.

A: I'll be waiting for you in my car outside the MSHC gate. It's a red Fiat Linea. Then we'll drive to wherever you say.

HO: ok fine. Bye.

A: Bye, see you at 4.

R: Who was that?

Armaan hesitated for a few seconds and then said "An old patient".
