Part 9
It ws tht day of the week again when Riddhimaz heart cried for an escape and Rahul eagerly dressed himself. It ws the date night. With the elapse of every two week Sid wud demand Riddhima to go on a date with Rahul. A note wud come by her door with a basket plain milk chocolates. The chocolates were given because Sid knew tht she used to eat thm wen she ws sad.
Riddhima thinking to herself while getting dressed:
Yeh sab mein tumharey liye kar rahi hoon Sid! Kyunki shayad jab tum merey paas the toh main tumharey liye kuch kar nahin payi aur aaj tum mujhseh kuch bhi maango main dey doongi chahey woh date peh jaana ho ya kuch bhi. Main koi sa bhi dard sehney ke liye tayar hoon. Kal thak main dard seh bhagti rahi leken aaj nahin jaisey tum apno ke khushi keliye kisi bhi had thak apney aap ko dard dey saktey the waisey aaj main bhi wahi karoongi.
(she opens the note)
Aaj haftey ka sabseh exciting night hai (Riddhima says: sure sure [sarcasm]). Aaj meri senior doc ka date hai. Chocolates miley? Acha Riddhima tumhara chudail wala mood sirf main seh sakta hoon issliye please Rahul ko bakhsh do.
Riddhima (looks up to the sky): Sid!
Date scene (Riddhima and Rahul)
Riddhima enters the same restaurant. And as usual she dsnt fail to give the receptionist a dirty look. It wsnt tht it ws her fault bt obviously Riddhima cudnt blame Sid for nt getting the CD so she ws the only target.
Riddhima: hi Rohan
Rahul: Rahul.
Riddhima: kaun?
Rahul: mera naam..
Riddhima: oh acha sorry sorry. Rahul.
Rahul: Riddhima tumhey waisi kaunsi movies pasand hai?
(For some reason Riddhima gets annoyed. It wsnt tht he ws a bad guy it ws jst tht any man who wud try to take Sid's place wud annoy her)
Riddhima (wearing her stubborn frown): main zyada movies nahin dekhti.
Rahul: acha waisey gaana kaisey pasand hai?
Riddhima: main zyada gaaney nahin sunti
Rahul: acha toh time pass ke liye kya karna pasand hai.
Riddhima: mujhe zyada time pass pasand nahin...
(Riddhima is caught in the middle of her own sentence when she realises hw senseless her sentence ws. Before she cud correct a waitress serves water and leaves a note for Riddhima)
Note:
Meri senior doc kaha tha na ke aapka yeh roop sirf aur sirf aap ka agya kari Sid hi bardaasht kar sakta hai. Itna atyachaar uss becharey peh mat karo. Dhaya karo Riddhima uss becharey par.
Riddhima smiles and Rahul amazed to find Riddhima in a better mood. The poor guy ws confused on Riddhimaz random mood swings.
Story moves as:
Time passes. Everybody has been introduced to Rahul who on the other hand is trying to fill in Sid's empty space. Soon everyone begins to ask Riddhima to move a step forward with her relationship. Riddhima refuses and wsnt bowing to any pressure be it family or frends. And wht added to her frustration ws the steady decrease in Sid's letters.
Modi Residence (Anjali and Riddhima scene)
Riddhima: di. Main koi baat nahin karna chahti kisi bhi cheez ke barey mein. Toh please.
Anjali: Sid ke barey mein bhi nahin?
Riddhima (after days of silence and anger gives a smile): kya? Sid. Di! Aapko pata nahin mein kabseh iss din ka intezar kar rahi thi.
(Anjali smiles with tears in her eyes. She has this sadness in her eye which Riddhima fails to notice because of the excitement of Sid's letter)
Modi Residence (technically SR scene)
Riddhima opens the letter.
Riddhima,
toh kaisi ho? Kaisa hai tumhara honey wala pati dev. Abh jo main bolney wala hoon ussey dhihaan seh sunho. Tummey samajh naa hoga ke jo log aaj tumharey saath karey hain woh sab tumharey apney hain. Woh sab tumharey liye acha nahin sab seh acha soch the hain. Aur issiliye un ka haq banta hai ke woh tumharey zindagi ke kuch faislon mein tumhari madat karein.
(Riddhima understood where he ws goig. Tears filled her eye yet she continued reading the path to her own agony.)
Shayad abh tum samajh naa sako keh main yeh sab kyun kar raha hoon par trust me Riddhima main abh tumhari zindagi seh bohot door jaa chuka hoon.
Shayad abhi tum iss baat ko puri tarha seh accept nahin kar parahi ho leken aagey jaa kar tummey iss baat ko maan na hoga ke main abh tumharey saath nahin hoon. Main abh jaa chuka hoon. Aur abh tumhey Rahul keh saath aagey barna hoga. Uss keh saath tumhey apna aaney wala kal dekhna hoga. Woh aaney wala kal jis mein main nahin hoon. Jis mein kabhi nahin aa sakta. Jissey keh aaney seh merey diye huey har dard ko tum bhool sakti ho. Kya tum nahin chahti keh tum apney sarrey dard bhool kar ek naye sirey seh zindagi ko shuru karo?
(Riddhima holds her breath and continues to read knowing she wudnt like wht ws coming next.)
Zindagi ek insaan ke jaaney seh nahin rukhti. Har cheez ki ek wajey hoti hai aur tumhari zindagi ki bhi ek wajey hai. Tumhey wohwajey dhoondhna hoga. Tumhey apni aur Rahul ke rishtey ko aagey lekar jaana hoga. Aagey barney ka waqt aagaya hai Riddhima. Mujhe peeche chodo issi mein sab ki bhalayi hai. Merey har woh diya hua yaad ko tumhey jaalana pareyga. Tumhey meri diyi hui har woh tape cassette aur letter ko jaalana hoga kyunki woh tumhey kabhi aagey barney nahin dengi. Merey liye itna toh kar sakti hona. Main tumharey saath hoon leken saath aur paas honey mein bohot farq hota hai aur tum toh jaanti hona ke jab bhi tum mujhe bhool naa pawoh tabh mujhe wapas aana pareyga!
Yaad rakh ney ka koi fayda nahin hai
Sid.
Riddhima folds the letter and drops on her bed. It ws as though something ws weighing her dwn. Her brain had stopped comprehending temporarily. It just could not be absorbed by her. Wht did he mean by burn all his given memories. Hw cud she? He ws asking her for too much this time. This time Sid had expected far too much frm her. She cudnt decide wht ws worse her letting someone else take Sid's place or burning Sid's final memories to do so. Wht burnt her further ws the fact tht she had no Sid to hold on to. To give her strength. To give her the assurance tht she wud be able to do it.
Riddhima had no faith in herself. She opened the letter with an ounce of hope tht somehow the content of the letter had changed. But no, nothing had changed every remained the same bt she noticed a small area of the letter where the ink had smudged. She rubbed it with her finger and later ws able to figure out tht it ws a tear drop. Sid's tear drop. Sid had cried when writing this. He had gone through more pain even though he ws already suffering. The realisation hit Riddhima like a thunderbolt. She realised at tht moment tht Sid actually ws going through pain to do this for her. It ws hurting him yet he did it and wht ws she doing? Hw ws she repaying his efforts? Ws she really living for the love she believed even death cudnt take away frm her? Her thoughts wandered wildly frm one question to the other. She kept questioning her loyalty to Sid's suffering and pain. She thought of whether she ws doing justice to his suffering by turning away frm his last request. She sat there with the letter in her hand and hoped tht all this ws a dream. Hoped dearly tht she'd wake up and find Sid by her side. But it wsnt a dream and nor ws Sid coming. Sid had never backed dwn to hurt himself when it ws for Riddhima's sake now it ws Riddhima's turn.
