Part 10

Story moves as:

Pain found a new home in Riddhima. She began to lose her herself during the days to come. The day to burn Sid's final memories ws coming closer and her life met yet another heart ache.

And finally came the day Riddhima dreaded most. The day to burn Sid's last memories had come. The day when Riddhima herself would hurt herself. She walked across the room slowly. Opened the cupboard where she had kept the most precious thing in her nw devastated life. The life tht had no meaning or purpose except doing all tht Sid had asked her. She picked up the box and brought it

to the bachyard of her house. Her hands shivered bt she forced thm to light a match stick and before she knew it the big box ws on fire. It ws like she saw life burn infront of her bt she didnt break dwn. She cudnt break. Nt nw, nt after she promised to live for Sid.

Riddhima who had refused Rahul several times ws suddenly willing to go ahead with their engagement. It ws the night of her engagement. A month frm nw wud be her marriage. Riddhima sits in the bridal room with Shilpa and Armaan comes in.

Bridal Room scene (ArSh and Riddhima)

Riddhima: yeh mera bridal room hai Armaan. Knock karna chahiye.

Armaan: mujhe bhi?

Riddhima: haan tumhey bhi. Woh chodo tum yahan kaisey.

Armaan: tumhey dekhney aaya tha.

(Shilpa looks away and tries her best to avoid the conversation Riddhima and Armaan where abt to have)

Riddhima: meri yaad itni jaldi kaisey aayi?

Armaan: tumhari yaad toh bohot aati hai. Ek tumhi toh ho jisko mein aaj kal baata sakta hoon keh main kitney dard seh guzar raha hoon.

Riddhima: abh agar hum directly uss kisi aur keh barey mein baat karein toh acha nahin hoga...

Shilpa: nahin bilkul nahin. Mein yaheen khari hoon! Tum dono merey samney merey barey mein baat nahin kar saktey.

Armaan: Shilpa Malik...

Shilpa (cuts in): Malhot...

Armaan: haan wahi wahi. Jo bhi hai. (and then adds in an audible whisper)

banna toh Malik hi hai... Abhi nahin toh kuch waqt baad hi sahi.

Shilpa gulps in a puff of air ready to reply when Riddhima cuts in.

Riddhima: abh chalein Shilpa Malik I mean Malhotra.

(Shilpa realises hw Riddhima had somewht started to respond to situations jst like Sid wud have. Ryt thn she notices Ridzy's saree being red and she looked gorgeous in it. Shilpa thinks Riddhima is over Sid.)

Shilpa. Yeh color tumpeh bohot acha lag raha hai.

Riddhima: ofcourse. Yeh saree Sid ko bhi bohot pasand hai.

(Riddhima leaves a stunned Shilpa and ArSh have a talk)

Shilpa: Armaan kya hum sahi karr rahey hain?

Armaan: kya matlab? Tumhey dikh nahin raha ke Ridzy kitni khush hai. She is beginning to accept things.

Shilpa: nahin Armaan tumney dekha nahin. Ussney Sid ki pasand ki saree pehni hai.

Armaan: Sid ke liye uska pyar toh itni jaldi nahin marega... Abh toda toh waqt lagey ga naa....

Shilpa: Armaan.. Usney kaha Sid ko pasand HAI. Usney 'hai' kaha 'tha' nahin. Tum samajh rahe ho mein kya keh rahi hoon.

(and Armaan understood. They both argued on wht ws ryt. Armaan believed tht they shud let the marriage happen becuz it cud overcome Sid's pain whereas Shilpa thought tht the marriage wud plunge Riddhima further into her misery and sorrow. The heated arguement rose and they both refused to give up on their beliefs.

On the other end Riddhima had reached the engagement hall. Shanky, Anjali and everyone she knew ws there. Although this ws a celebration, it seemed as though everyone silently mourned over a sad occassion. Bt Riddhima tried her best to keep her smile on. She met everyone and each one reminded her of hw they had been a part of her memory of Sid. She begun relating everything to Sid. Her life literally revolved around him. The ceremony begins with alot pomp and everyone tries their best to convince themselves tht this is the ryt thing to do. Riddhima smiles and manages to hide her sorrow well.

Riddhima is then asked to bring her hand forward for the ring to be put on. She is not hesitant and confidently puts her hand forward. All that confidence is washed away when she touches his hand. She feels sick and disgusted. She runs to her room after the ring ceremony to fetch something tht belonged to Sid. Anything tht wud wash away the feeling of impurity she had. She searched her room bt found nothing. Not a single belonging of Sid cud be seen. It ws jst as he planned. It ws as though he never existed in her life. Bt he did. No matter hw much he tried to remove or rather replace himself it wsnt going to work. And this etched a scar on Riddhima's heart.

Rahul enters the room bt this time clearly is able to see the devastation in Riddhima's face and Riddhima made no attempt to hide it. He sits by her side and sees his ring beside the bed post.

Bedroom scene (Riddhima and Rahul)

Rahul: jab yeh sab itna mushkil hai tumharey liye toh kar kyun rahi ho?

Riddhima: Sid ke liye. (she didnt bother to explain and Rahul gt a rough idea of why she ws marrying him)

Rahul: tum Sid seh pyar karti ho aur uss ke liye kissi aur seh shaadi kar rahi ho. Leken Riddhima main naa tum seh naa ussey pyar karta hoon. Main toh sirf ek traditional yet 21 century larki seh shaadi karna chahta tha. Abh tumharey liye main itna bara sacrifice toh nahin kar sakta. I mean tumseh shaadi karoon toh tumharey family ki izzat ki khatir. Main tumhari aur tumharey family ki respect karta hoon leken dnt u think ur asking fr too much?

Riddhima: merey liye nahin leken apney london ke visa keh liye toh kar saktey hona?

(Rahul is shocked and tongue tied)

Riddhima: mainey application forms tumhari files mein dekhli thi. Aur main london mein kisi ko jaanti hoon joh tumhey wahan peh ek high paid paediatric ka post aur accomodation deh sakta hai leken uss ke liye tumhey mujhse shaadi karni hogi.

Rahul: woh sab toh theek hai leken kal ko tumhey agar mujhse pyar hogaya toh?

Riddhima: pyar karney ke liye ehsaas ki zaroorat hoti hain. Leken merey ehsaas Sid ke saath margaye.

Story moves as:

Rahul agrees to become Riddhima's barey ka dulha and on the other hand Shilpa persistantly tries to convince to Ridzy to stop doing wht she believes is the biggest mistake in Riddhima's life. Riddhima now a stronger person stands her ground and even tries to patch things between ArSh.

Marriage scene (Mainly Riddhima)

She is slowly walking down the stairs. Everyone's eyes are on her. She looks through the people and is able to spot some familiar faces. There ws JP and Jiggy with obvious tears in the their eyes bt quickly smile back at Riddhima. There is Anjie who ws able to hide her pain bt Riddhima cud sense her sorrow. There ws Shilpa with clear disdain for all tht ws happening and Armaan who smiled thinking its all he can do for her. Riddhima begins to walk through the decorated corridor and she is hit with a flashback when Sid holds her hand and drags her through a similar corridor on their wedding. Yeh tum Sid ke liye kar rahi ho she silently tells herself. She walks forward and this time not one but all her memories flash infront of her eyes. Sid holding, supporting her. Sid putting the mangal sutr the sindoor and him carrying her through the pheras all exemplified his extreme level of support there ws no one with whom she cud do all tht again. Pain rushed through her body as began to realise tht she cud nt go through with this. She stood there, still and silent. She stood absorbing the pain tht ws nw close to strangling her. Her mind tld her to move forward for Sid bt she cudnt. She cudnt imagine re-living all those precious moments with someone else. There ws no way she cud do this. Her feet felt paralysed and it ws as though she ws suffocating. In the desperate situation all she cud do ws run.

Bench scene

She ran a reached a bench. The lehenga ws torn due to the turmoil it had gone through. But tht ws nothing compared to the turmoil tht stirred with her. She had vowed to live for Sid but even then she cudnt go through with it. She drops on a bench near by. She sits thinking of wht her life has become. The tear tht ws shinning in her eyes ws nw finding its way dwn her cheek. She finally cried. She let go of all those tears she had been holding back. It ws her weak moment. A moment where she realised she cudnt go on like this. A moment which showed her hw desperately she needed Sid. His love. His support. His being. Everythin about Sid. She cried knowing he wsnt there.

Some one sat by her. She didnt care who it ws and didnt look up. He offered her his handkerchief and she didnt bother to take it. And then he thinks of introducing himself. Maybe then she wud stop crying he tought. He brings a hand forward and says:

Siddhant. Siddhant Modi.

And her world stopped.
