Part 19
Sid gts up and gently puts a pillow under Riddhima's head. He looks at her one last time and smiles at the innocence he saw before him. He leaves the bed before she could wake up. He gts into the washroom and washes his face. His memories ws clouded with last night. He looked at his hand and remembered hw Riddhima had laide her head on it. He folds his hand into a fist wanting to relive those moment. He puts his head when his phone beeps knowing it would be a message frm Tamanna.
"Hey Sid! Call me when u gt this. Im really missing u out here. U know I love u yh?"
He reads the message out loud in an attempt to wash away his memories. He decides tht he is the one at fault and needs to frgt Riddhima completely bt something inside told him tht forgetting wsnt an option. He gts out of the washroom and decides nt to look at Riddhima. Bt once he reaches the door, he looks back jst once. Jst once to make sure it wsnt a dream after all.
Hospital scene (SR)
The whole day in the hospital Sid avoided Riddhima. Being sincere to his words he keeps distance frm her. Riddhima had an idea tht he ws guilty bt nt sure why. She knew she cudnt force him bt at the same time knew he cudnt keep things frm her. It wsnt like Sid to keep things frm her. Nt after sharing last night. At the end of the day when Sid ws sitting in the cafe all on his own, she walks up to him. She sits infrnt of him without asking since she knew he wud refuse although he wud wnt her to take the seat. Sid looks up and thn looks dwn without asking anything or even commenting on her taking the seat. He sort of predicted it.
Riddhima: nw even u knw a few things abt me.
Sid: I knw right? My excitement knws no bounds.
Riddhima (laughing at his sarcasm): kya hua?
Sid: nothing.
Riddhima: Sid jst tell me.
Sid: kyun? Tumhey har baat report karna zaroori hai kya?
Riddhima: report nahin.. Bata na zaroori hai.
Sid: kyun?
Riddhima: kyun ke meri replacement yahan nahin hai...
Sid: replacement?
Riddhima: TAM
Sid (laughing): wht is it abt u?
Riddhima: abh bata bhi do..
Sid (looking past Riddhima): Tam texted.
(Riddhima didnt need anything more. She knew wht he ws going through. It ws like wht she had felt fr Armaan. She also understood tht back thn she cud hold on to Sid bt Sid wnt do tht. He wudnt wnt tht since he wud think it to be wrong.)
Riddhima: kal raat ws a mistake.
(It killed her to say tht bt she had to because the most important thing ws to gt Sid out of his guilt shell. She needed to take him out of there and she cudnt do it if she pushed herself into his life. She needed to give time to accept wht she knew he felt fr her.)
Sid: wht?
Riddhima: it ws a mistake. And no matter hw i try to phrase it, its still a mistake tht shud have never happened. And u hav nothing to feel guilty abt cuz last night meant nothing.
Sid: hw cn u say tht?
Riddhima: it didnt mean anything. We both shared friendship and thts all there ws. U didnt do anything wrong because Tamanna ws and is in u.
(Sid nt all approved of anything she said bt still nodded without looking at her. He closed his eyes and all he cud see ws last night. He knew it wsnt friendship. He knew Riddhima ws hurting herself fr him and he hated himself fr tht. He hated tht he ws drawn to her no matter hw much he held back. No matter hw much he avoided it, he knew his feelings fr her kept growing. He didnt wanna name his emotions because thn it wud be harder fr him to turn away frm thm. The hatred he had fr himself grew. He thought of himself as weak and helpless. The feeling made him cold in the inside.)
Road scene (SR)
They both walk out of the hospital without speaking. They silently choose to walk rather thn drive. They needed to clear their thoughts. To calm themselves. Sid thought abt wht he did to Riddhima and grew cold in the inside.
On the way Riddhima spots a few men running after a young boy. She panicks seeing their muderous intention. She holds to Sid and begs him to help. Sid ws nt thinking straight and ws disturbed by his own actions.
Riddhima: help him!
Sid: help him? the word helpless and Sid hav become synonyms.
Riddhima: Sid!
Sid: please Riddhima. Mein ek barbaad shuda insaan hoon if I try to help him thn uss becharey ki toh gayi!
Riddhima: Sid nt a good time to joke!
Sid: oh well thn theres nothing much I can do here.
Riddhima: Sid?! Wht is wrong with u?
Sid: i hav been trying to figure tht one out of a very long time nw.
(Sid didnt really understand his statements. He didnt understand his refusal to help. It ws jst tht he thought he hurt practically everyone around him and cudnt go on like. He cudnt pretend to be happy when he knew he wsnt. He jst needed a moment of anger and this ws the one he chose. The cold tone in voice made things clear fr Riddhima.
The men had circled the poor boy by thn. There ws three of thm. One of thm noticed Sid and Riddhima and walks over to scare thm away. The two were too busy in their quarrel to notice the man walk towards thm. The man comes frm behind Riddhima and puts up a fist to punch her. Sid grabs his fist on time.)
Sid: larki ko haath laganey ki ghalti mat karna.
(The guy ds nt take his advice seriously and picks up another fist at Riddhima. Sid holds the fist in time yet again bt loses his temper along with it.)
Sid: kaha tha na.
(Sid holds his hand and keeps punching him on the face till his nose bleeds. Riddhima quickly secures herself behind Sid and lays her hands on his shoulders. He glances back at her once.)
Sid: lets leave.
Riddhima: what?
Sid: chalo chaltein hain.
Riddhima: Sid!
Sid: wht?
(It thn clicks Riddhima tht Sid ws nt gonna leave without her nor let anyone harm her. So she thinks of walking into harm's way. She runs before Sid grab her hand and stand ryt in between the two barbaric men. Sid gts frustrated bt knows he has no other option and walks towards thm and the young boy and Riddhima run behind him.)
Sid: kya hua jaansi ki rani? Larna nahin hai? Abhi toh aapney jang ka elaan kar dia.
Riddhima: merey priye pati dev meri raksha karna aapka dharam hai.
Sid: hw convenient.
(The goons come closer and a fight erupts between Sid and thm. Riddhima feeling helpless and watching Sid fyt two men at a time decides to help.)
Riddhima: Sid! Left!
(He looks left and gts punched frm ryt.)
Riddhima: I meant mera left.
(He moves his jaw to make sure its still a part of his face. He begins to fyt again.)
Riddhima: Sid! Right!
(He moves ryt and gts hit frm left. And before Riddhima cud correct her statement. Sid glares at her.)
Sid: I know tumhara ryt! Ryt?
Riddhima: par mein toh bas?
Sid: tum apni commentary band kardo. Suicide karna ho toh bata doonga.
Young boy: Peechey!
(He looks bak and fyts off the two goon. The first thn comes with a knife at Riddhima and Sid places himself in time and saves her. They fall on one another. Amidst all the trauma Sid cud nt help bt look into riddhima's face. He felt peace. He hadnt looked at her properly, tried to avoid and be mean to her the whole day bt nt anymore. He held her there on him. Pulled her annoying strand of hair behind her ear. His hand had moved to remove the hair automatically.)
Sid: Abh yeh aadat kaisey chootey gi?!
*BG Musik*
Hum toh chalein they dost bankey
Jaaney kahan dill mill gaye*
Young boy: mein chalta hoon haan...
(Sid and Riddhima gt up awkwardly)
Sid: ey rukh!
Young boy: kya?
Sid: naam kya hai?
Young boy: Dheeraj.
Sid: chal merey saath.
Dheeraj: sab... Thaney (police station) nahin jaana mere ko. Maaf kardo na.
Sid: merey saath chal.
Dheeraj: sab, kyun ghareeb keh peth peh laath mar rahey ho.
Sid: terey peth peh laath nahin khana daal raha hoon.
Dheeraj: kya?
Sid: kuch kaya hai kya?
Dheeraj: nahin sab, subhe seh bhooka hoon.
Sid: toh chal.
Riddhima (thinking): he does all this and thn expects me nt to fall fr him!
(Dheeraj follows Sid and Riddhima into a near by dhaba. SR dnt eat much bt the kid eats plates over plates. Dheeraj's mouth ws full when he noticed they werent eating anything.)
Dheeraj: sab, aap dono..
Sid (cuts in): Sid
Dheeraj: kya?
Sid: mera naam Sid hai.
Dheeraj: sachi? Maarega toh nahin naa? Main aap ko Sid bolaye ga?
Sid: nahin "maarega". Tu mujhe Sid bolale.
(Both Sid and Riddhima smile when they see him smile with his mouth full.
As they walk out of dhaba SR gt worried abt Dheeraj.)
Dheeraj: chinta nahin karney ka apun hai naa yahan seh seedha apni basti mein jayega.
Sid: theek hai
(Dheeraj signals Sid to bend and tells him on his ear)
Dheeraj: agar aap madam ko date peh leke jaana chahta hai toh phir merey ko mast destination maaloom hai.
Sid: nahin nahin.. Waisi koi baat nahin
Dheeraj: Sid kai ko jhoot bolne ki koshish karta hai. Chehre seh pata lagta hai keh aap dono ka love story chal raha hai.
Sid: nahin.. Tu ghalat samajh raha hai.
Dheeraj: kyun pat thi nahin hai kya?
Sid: mujhse koi bhi pat sakti hai...
Dheeraj: nahin yeh alag matter hai!
Sid: alag toh hai! Sabseh alag (looking at Riddhima)
Dheeraj: toh bologey?
Sid (didnt wanna disappoint the kid): abhi keh abhi bol doonga!
Dheeraj: tu na ek dum hero lag raha tha jab woh dono ko mar raha tha. Par hero tu rehta kahan hai? Main terey ko eedhar dekha nahin naa..
Sid: Mumbai
Dheeraj: ey! Main bhi udhar jaa raha hai par agley mahiney!
(Sid smiles and gives him his card. SR leave him and Sid puts a hand around Riddhima's waist to show Dheeraj that he was following his advice. Riddhima in shock looks to Sid who winks and gives her a brief smile.
They reach hotel room and Sid dsnt take off his jacket and walks into the washroom. Riddhima gts ready to go to bed and is shocked when she realises that Sid ws still nt out. She knocks on the door to make sure he's okay.)
Sid: AAAHH!
Riddhima: what happened?!!
Sid: kuch nahin!
Riddhima: Sid kholo! open the door!
Sid: its nothing. So jao
Riddhima: main nahin so sakti.
Sid: I wnt scream. I promise.
Riddhima: Sid! main jab tak dekh na loon tumhey, I cnt sleep.
Sid: I'm Fine!
Riddhima: are u opening or shud I bother breaking the door?
(Sid almost dies laughing and opens the door. Riddhima sees blood soaked on his shoulder and his shirt ws thrown carelessly on the bathroom floor [So yes he ws shirtless]. She comes to take a closer look but Sid takes two steps back.)
Riddhima: let me see Sid.
Sid: its fine.. I will jst putting anticeptic on it.
Riddhima: haan woh dikh raha hai! Let me help!
Sid: I will manage!
Riddhima: you have to first wash off the soaked blood! Aur tumney woh nahin kiya hai.
(Riddhima takes a step forward and Sid goes back. Sid could feel the water from the bath tub behind and knows he cnt move further back. He stops and Riddhima comes forward with a cotton bud, only to trip on floor rug and fall on Sid. He looses his balance and they both fall into the tub. Sid sit up and pulls Riddhima by the hand and positions her on his lap since the area ws quite small. He grabs her dupatta floating on the water and wraps it around her. She ws freezing and he wraps his arms around her and rubs her shoulder. And for some reason he found Riddhima's expression amusing and a laughed slightly. He tried to cover it with a cough bt Riddhima wsnt fooled and in fury gets up to leave. But only to slip and fall into to the half filled tub again. Bt Sid grabs her in time and carries her out of the washroom.
This time he couldnt look away and looks right into her eyes. They stared into one another as he gently lets her stand on her feet. She looks away from Sid. He takes a step closer and places her hair away. He gently plants a kiss on her neck and Riddhima closes her eyes. She tries to walk away bt a tearful Sid holds her hand right on time)
Sid: Will you not dress my wounds?

(And Riddhima understands wht he meant. She understood wht ws hurting him most and she looks to him. To find his eyes wet with tears. None of the tears fell frm thm bt She knew it hurt him alot to walk away frm her. To walk away frm the every moment they shared. She took a step. And then his phone went "BEEP")
