Chapter 10A:
Somewhere On National Highway No.4:
R-Rahul se jhooth bolke acha nahi lag raha....pehli baar zindagi mein apne bhai se jhooth bola hai...hey Bhagwaan..!!
Raj looked worried while driving towards his office.He felt better after talking to Moushmi but still a slight wave of guilt pinched his heart.He felt bad and sad abt the fact that he had lied to Rahul.He knew that it was in the interest of his brother...but still....this feeling didnt leave Raj.After thinking over it for a while,he felt that it would be better to let it go and focus now on the book to be written..as he knew this would definitely be the ideal excuse for his lies to Rahul.A small smile escaped his lips and he felt abit positive and confident.His chain of thoughts were broken by the sudden ring of his cellphone.
R-hello??
M-Raj!! tum theek toh ho??
R(surprised)-Moushmi!? tum..!?? haan..kya hua??
M(worried)-wo..tum iss waqt kaha ho?
R-main...office ki taraf jaa raha hoon..!! kyun?kya baat hai??tum theek toh ho??
M-haan..main theek hoon..mujhe tumhari chinta ho rahi thi isliye phone kiya...
Raj smiled unintentionally.
R(smiles)-acha ji..!! aaj kal kisi ko meri badi chinta ho rahi hai...kya baat hai ji..??
Moushmi smiled as Raj teased her further.
M-tum bhi na,Raj!! ek toh tumhari fikar ho rahi thi aur tum ho ki....
R(smiled sincerely)-main theek hoon,Moushmi..bas thoda ajeeb lag raha tha Rahul se itni badi baat chupa kar
M-main samjhti hoon,Raj..lekin tum hi socho agar hum unhe bata denge toh wo hume ye kitaab likhne dege
R-ofcourse not...main jaanta hoon....He sighed slightly while Moushmi smiled.
M-tumpe ye seriousness suit nahi karti....
R(smiled)-acha!! toh mujhpe kya suit karta hai?
M(blushed slightly)-ummm....kuch nahi...
Raj got surprised and a small smile crept upon his face.
R(teasing tone)-bolo na!! tum kuch keh rahi thi!?
Moushmi by the tone of his voice understood that he was teasing her.Embarrassed badly at her own comments,she blushed a deep pink.
R(smiled)-sharmaate hue bahut achi lagti ho...
Moushmi turned bright red. She knew Raj understood her very well...her thoughts'her views'her expressions..everything....and above all,the one emotion which he recognized the most...was her 'heartbeats'.....as it was the same as his.Smilingly,she hung the phone while Raj reached his office with a huge smile on his face.
Outside Sanjeevani:
An enraged Rahul screamed:
Rah(angry)-kab tak bhagogi,Mansi!??
Mansi stopped but didn't dare to turn back. She didn't want to face him..no..nothing doing..she couldn't. She rushed out of Sanjeevani but Rahul was adamant to find some answers to questions which were hidden deep in the past and he knew only Mansi could tell him. He followed her till her car where she now stood rooted to the ground'.waiting to hear all the accusations once again. Unstoppable and uncontrollable tears stubbornly flowing through her eyes..she was helpless between her heart and mind. A paradoxical situation faced by every person at one point of their life.
Gathering whatever courage left in her, she turned. Their eyes once again met. Rahul took a step close to her while she just blankly stared at him..as if to capture his picture in her eyes forever'and not letting it go. He looked at her with utter disappointment and hatred of which Mansi was already accustomed many a times. Once Rahul took few more steps ahead,Mansi came back from her thoughts and lowered her eyes.
Rah-toh Dr.Mansi Malhotra kaisi hai aap?? Kaisi chal rahi hai aapki so-called happening and luxurious life? Huh!? (sarcasm clearly in his voice).
Mansi looked at him with a sad and guilty look while Rahul stood there having a cruel smile upon his face.
Rah-ohh! Kya hua? Not so-happening life huh?
Mansi remained quiet. She didn't want to be rude neither could she tell him the truth..so she quietly bowed her head and listened to everything...Rahul noticed her being quiet and blank.
Rah(smiled)-kya hua? Kuch keh nahi rahi hai aap..?
Mansi looked up and met his eyes.
Man(chokingly)-kya kahu?
Rahul's temper rose and he drastically grabbed her arms, threw her towards her car's glass window and held her again tightly. Mansi cried silently in pain. She had hurt her back badly but didn't make Rahul realize it.
Rah(screaming)-kya kahu! Tum mujhse pooch rahi ho,kya kahu!! Huh..(he pulled her close to him) jab main pichle 8 saalon se un jawabon ke peeche bhaag raha ho jo tumne apne dil mein dafn karke rakh diya hai...tumhe pata hai ki tumne mujhe kitni takleef pochayi hai..(she looked at him..tears streaming from both eyes)...tumhari wajah se maine apne aap ko poori tara badal diya'itni nafrat ho gayi thi khud se ki apni jaan tak dena chahta tha ( Mansi sighed heavily and looked at him in utter shock) itni nafrat maine shayad tumse nahi ki jitni apne aap ko saza de chukka hoon ki kis ghadi maine tum jaisi ek selfish aur cheap ladki se....pyaar kiya tha....
He said it. He said it all today. Mansi looked up directly in his eyes. Rahul looked drained and tired of all this. They looked at each other and it seemed like time had stopped. Mansi felt her heart beating fast as she heard those words once again from his lips..and the proximity she exhibited with him just now was enough for her to spend her entire life without him being close.
Rahul left her instantly and turned away. Mansi sighed in pain and anguish. Rahul was crying slightly too.
Rah-par pata hai kya..jo hua wo acha hi hua..kyunki ab meri zindagi mein muskaan banke meri Muskaan aa chuki hai..(Mansi looked up..she could feel the tears forming once again while Rahul continued)..wo ladki jisne meri duniya hi badal di..meri zindagi mein apni 'muskaan' kuch iss tarah phaila di hai ki..ab uske bina zindagi...kuch bhi nahi....He smiled and imagined Muskaan infront of him smiling. Mansi felt something piercing her heart and breaking it into pieces but still she gathered herself with great difficulty. Going close to him, she faced him now.
Man(smiles sadly)-tumhari aur Ma'am ki jodi bahut achi lagti hai...Ma'am tumse bahut pyaar karti hain.
Rahul looked surprised and smiled sarcastically.
Rah-mujhe pata hai..Mansi felt weak but didn't say anything. Because of blood oozing out from her back, she felt a bit dizzy.
Man(smiles)-Bhagwaan kare aap dono ko kabhi kisi ki nazar na lage
Rahu smiled and looked at her. She had become pale. He came close to her once again and held her hand in his. Mansi was shocked and awaited him to speak.
Rah(with confidence)-tumne aisa kyun kiya,Mansi?
Mansi looked away to hide her tears.
Man-kuch sawalon ke jawab na diye jaaye toh hi behtar hota hai,Rahul...maine jo kuch tumhare saath kiya..usse ho sake toh bhool jaana...lekin main marte dum tak tumhe nahi bata paaungi ki maine wo sab kiske liye aur kiski wajah se kiya.....
Rahul looked shocked. Mansi looked deep in his eyes. Suddenly, Mansi felt her feet away from the ground. She felt everything going hazy and tears still flowing from her eyes. Withing minutes, Mansi fell unconscious in Rahul's arms. Rahul was shocked and looked at Mansi's face. He held her from her back and noticed blood there.
Rah(shockingly)-khoon!!??
Rahul quickly rushed Mansi inside the hospital..but remained unknown that Muskaan was behind Mansi's car...listening to the entire conversation....tears clearly sparkling in her eyes......
