Chapter-10B
In The OPD:
Muskaan sat beside an unconscious Mansi.Thoughts,questions,answers...all revolving around her mind while looking at Mansi.Rahul and Mansi?? Together!?? Or was it just an imagination!? A dream!? A bad dream!?.She silently placed her hand over Mansi's. Within few days,Mansi and Muskaan had become friends.She had trusted Mansi and Mansi kept her away from the most important hidden secret of her life.The one question which remained unanswered all her life was now completely known to her. The one conversation which Rahul always avoided from her.The one secret of his past that he had always refrained from telling to Muskaan.
Mus(while placing her hand over Mansi's)-Maa..Ma..Mansi! She said with utmost silent whispers and tears forming in her eyes.Her chain of thoughts was broken by Rahul's entry in the room.She looked up at him.Confusion and gultiness clearly depicting from his face. She felt sad and bad that she had to see 'her' Rahul in such a state.
Rah(looking down)-ummm..Muskaan wo..umm..Mansi...umm..mera matlab hai Dr.Mansi ki tabiyat kaisi hai ab?
Muskaan felt something piercing her heart listening to such a depth and sadness in his voice.Freshly formed tears ran down over her cheeks.
Mus(gulping down her tears)-wo..wo..theek hai...bas behosh hai...kuch ghanton ke baad usse hosh aa jaayega...
Rahul looked over at Mansi.Her face was pale and drained off as if there was no blood left in her body.His eyes fell on the bottle through which Mansi was given IV blood transfusion.Even if he hated Mansi for whatever she had done,but he never wanted this fate for her....never. He promised himself that he wouldnt face Mansi ever again in his life...and even if he does,he would make her cry..make her realise the pain...make her feel the pain which had engulfed him for the past 10yrs.But he never wanted to hurt her this way...never did he wish or pray for her death. He could no longer take it and turned his face away from hers.Muskaan noticed tears in his eyes.
Rah-Muskaan..main..ummm...main apna phone shayad gaadi mein bhool aaya hoon...main leke...With that he just rushed out of the room.Muskaan shut her eyes tightly and a lone tear escaped her eye and fell on Mansi's hand.Mansi jerked abit and slowly opened her eyes.Muskaan looked shocked and a smile crept upon her face.Mansi looked around and finally at Muskaan.
Man-Ma..Ma..Ma'am!!!
Mus(smiled,caressing her hair)-ab kaisi tabiyat hai,Mansi?
Man(smiled back)-main theek hoon,Ma'am!
Mansi looked around the room as if to find someone.Her eyes longing for Rahul.Muskaan noticed it and thought it was time that some unknown secrets of the past should be unfolded.
Mus(determined)-main abhi aayi,Mansi...tum aaram karo! Mansi smiled and Muskaan wiped her tears heading towards the door.
Outside The Waiting Room:
Rahul paced to and fro clearly tensed over the matter.Muskaan reached him and thought how would she ask him? How will he react? How would things turn out after this? But she had to...she had to clear it out today..this moment...for him..for her...for their relation and most importantly for the girl who lay like a lifeless soul on the hospital's bed with the guilt of hurting her love without such intentions.What could be worse for a girl....to kill her own love by separating herself from him....without giving the trust that she was doing it for a reason...and yet she had to.Why??
Mus(controlling herself from getting weak)-Mansi wohi ladki hai na,Rahul!
Rahul looked up shocked.His back was facing her.He abruptly turned to face her...confusion clearly seen in his eyes.They stared at each other...tears shimmering in both the eyes.
Mus(softly)-maine..aapki aur Mansi ki saari baatein sun li thi...parking lot mein.
Rahul looked stunned,confused,surprised.Muskaan..heard everything? How? Will she understand me? How would I explain?
Rah(surprised)-Muskaan..tum...ye..kya..
Mus(smiles)-wo ladki Mansi hi hai na ..jiske wajah se aap...(gulps and more tears flow from her eyes)...aap...aapko pyaar se nafrat ho gayi...aapne apne aap ko poori tarah se badal diya....apne rishton se naata tod liya....
Rahul closed his eyes and flashbacks of him and Mansi together gushed through his mind.
Mus(coming closer to Rahul)-wohi ladki jiski wajah se aapne kissi ko bhi apne paas nahi aane diya...koi bhi rishta aapse judne se darta tha...ya phir yun kahu ki aap kissi ke saath koi rishta jodna hi nahi chahte the....ye wohi ladki hai na jiski wajah se aap aur main uss barsaat ki raat ko mile the.......
A loud and immense thunder struck outside.Rain started pouring heavily as if hinting to a night which had importance for all of them....Raj,Moushmi,Mansi,Rahul and Muskaan.Rahul didnt say anything.Facing the window,remembering the night he just stood silent.Muskaan came closer and placed her hand on his shoulder.
Mus-Rahul! aapko Mansi se baat karni chahiye...uss raat ko kya hua...wo kyun aapko chod ke chali gayi....usne aisa kyun kiya....ye saare sawalon ke jawab sirf aur sirf ussi ke paas hai...Please Rahul! jaaiye..usse baat kijiye.
Rahul turned around looking surprised.
Rah(upset)-main usse baat karu,Muskaan!? uss ladki se jisne meri poori zindagi badal di...uske wajah se meri poori pehchaan...mera existence....meri har khushi mujhse chinn gayi...aur tum keh rahi ho ki main usse baat karu!!! Huhhh...(turning around in frustation)..nahi Muskaan...mere aur Mansi ke beech mein koi rishta nahi hai...usne toh humaari dosti tak ko nahi choda....meri poori life usne ek hi pal mein barbaad kar di....ab humaare beech baat karne ke liye bhi koi reason nahi hai,Muskaan!
Mus-Rahul! main jaanti hoon ki Mansi ne jo bhi kiya wo galat tha....aapki har khushi aapse door kar di...lekin Rahul aap hi ne kaha na...ki iske peeche zaroor koi reason hai...koi wajah hai jisko leke Mansi aaj tak chup hai....usne aapse kuch nahi kaha..na hi koi sawal kiya..na koi jawab diya. Kyun Rahul!!
Rah(looking at Muskaan with an angry expression)-main jaanta hoon,Muskaan.....wo apne dil mein koi bada raaz chupa rahi hai....lekin sach kahu..mujhe nahi jaana hai...nahi jaana ki usne aisa kyun kiya...(loudly and fiercely)..nahi jaana ki usne mere feelings ke saath mazak kyun kiya.Muskaan! (coming closer to her and cupping her face,softly) meri zindagi mein wo jagah tum le chuki hoon...aur ab humaare beech aisa kuch nahi ho sakta...main tumse aur sirf tumse pyaar karta hoon.
Mus(smiles and takes his hand in hers)-main jaanti hoon,Rahul! lekin Mansi ke liye toh aap hi uska pehle aur aakhri pyaar ho....aap usse wo pyaar nahi de sakte...uski dosti toh de sakte ho..Rahul looked up confused.
Rah-matlab!?
Mus-Rahul! Please try and clear out the misunderstanding....koshish toh kijiye....pata nahi mera dil kyun kehta hai ki Mansi ab thak chuki hai bhagte bhagte...and I'm sure she wants to get it all out...bas aapki koshish karne ki dair hai. Mansi ek achi ladki hai,Rahul...main jaanti hoon usse...bhale hi aap usse zyaada jaante hai..par maine uski aankhon mein ek sachai dekhi hai....aur dard bhi.Please Rahul!
Rahul smiled.
Rah-Muskaan! tum kis type ki ladki ho!? tum mujhe uss ladki se dosti karne ko keh rahi ho jo mera past reh chuka hai....tumhe mujhse koi shikayat nahi!? koi sawaal..koi jawaab nahi chahiye!
Muskaan smiled between her tears.She cupped his face gently.
Mus-iska jawaab bahut simple hai Mr.Rahul Khanna....main aapse bahut pyaar karti hoon and I trust you completely.
A huge smile crept upon Rahul's face which occupied his eyes too.The first smile which reached his eyes after soo many years.
*Dr.Muskaan..Dr.Mansi aapko bula rahi hai*
A nurse interrupted them.
Muskaan cleaned her tears and looked back.
Mus-ji sister..aap chaliye main aa rahi hoon.
With that she looked back at Rahul,smiled and left only to be held back by Rahul. Rahul held her hand tightly on which she gasped. She didnt expect Rahul to hold her hand in such a situation that too infront of everyone..in a hospital. She smiled but didnt turn.
Mus(whispered)-Rahul!!
Rahul smiled seeing her whisper so sweetly.He gently pulled her back indicating her to turn.She turned slowly and looked in his eyes.He slowly came closer to her and kissed her forehead while Muskaan gently closed her eyes.
Rah(whispered back)-I love you too!
Muskaan smiled and blushed slightly.Rahul smiled looking at her while Muskaan left for Mansi's room.Rahul was left in thoughts looking at rain droplets touching the ground...as if the sky is engulfing the earth.A beautiful meeting of the sky and the earth.........................
