Hello everyone!
So I managed to find my way to this thread now but have no clue what was discussed here all along. So pitching in at the current topic-the KK daan-

I personally find this incident to be amoral in character having very little to do with right or wrong. Hence neither warranting praise nor blame. Indra did a repugnant thing to begin with, Karna just replied in kind- keeping the distasteful flavour of the entire incident intact. In fact I think he did an intelligent thing to exchange something (whose utility I am doubtful of) for something which might potentially help him in the future. I have very little knowledge of the epic but I don't remember his hyped KK ever doing anything which a non-divine ordinary armour could not do. (Unless the ⭐️MB version is true and it could magically appear and disappear😆).
Hence if I am going to blame anyone, it's got to be Indra. Again not for ethical reasons, but for tactical ones. If I want to exploit my enemy's virtue/idiosyncrasy and have myself already thrown all pretence of scrupulousness , then I might as well take full advantage of the situation. I know my enemy is under vow to give ANYTHING I ask for and I don't want him to face my son in his lethal form then I should begin with the essentials--like say...his thumb (ok i dont want to copy Dron!), so his hand, or perhaps his life (Rishi Dadhichi style maybe). Technically I would expect him to make a daan of all this too and this would waive off the danger with certitude. But instead I go and ask for an accessory and not just that I end up giving him a mighty weapon which has higher chances of killing my son!
I can so imagine Arjun telling him-Just do me a favour, never ever try to help me in future. Please leave that to Madhav!😆

@Vani - you must not forget Krishna gave his GG only after Karna donated KK. Plus he was not present in the battlefield as he said he would not join the army when Bheeshma was the commander in chief. So Karna did not get a chance to learn new definitions.
BTW, many scholars & researchers have proved that Pandu was the bilological father of Arjuna. If that is true, it is worth thinking that who was the 'daddy' went begging Karna's Kavacha Kundala!😉

@Diala - bang on😃. Not only that, the only reason for Karna to stop fighting with Arjuna at Draupadi swayamvara was Arjuna lied he was a Brahmana. That again shows his respect & high regard for Brahmanas.

Right.. and I think we discussed earlier.. the moment Karna stopped was when the crowd was applauding for him.. not when Arjuna had the upper hand.. but still ppl call it running away n defeat..

Here is the Sanskrit verse.
Braahmanyataam cha shauryam cha daane cha paramam gatim.
Braahmanyatam - means 'for brahmanhood' or 'for brahmanas'
cha - also
shauryam - heroic (deeds/consideration)
cha - and
cha - moreover
daane - in alms giving
paramam - the most / the highest
gatim - happiness / satisfaction.
So all together, it means - (I know) your heroic deeds/consideration for Brahmanas also, and moreover the highest satisfaction/happiness you get from alms-giving.
The key word which turns Daana from 'simple giving' to 'almsgiving' is the third CHA & the use of Paramam gatim. As the word shauryam represents valour/heroism, the only heroism/valour one can have for Brahmanas is the way they are considered, cared& respected. There was no need to use 'shauryam' to describe it, but 'sharyam' is used to emphasis on the level at which Karna worked which ineed was an epic itself or the most supreme state. And that also can be applied for his 'daanam cha paramam gatim'. Gati actually means motion, which also was actually not needed here. So we can assume that it also indicates the steady raise of Karna in both his individual & spiritual levels, towards the ultimate satisfaction/happiness which one gets only by selflessly helping others.

They need to support their hero as we support Karna. You can wake up a sleeping beauty, but not the one who acts.

In Vishnu puran

Ill post the citation later as I am on phone. Karna was demon dambodhava in previous incarnation who had prayed to sun for 1000 kavach and kundals which can be broken only after 1000 years and who ever breaks it will die

Nara and Narayan use their tapobal to do away with 1000 year part
So nara and Narayan alternatively broke it one by one where first Narayan will break and die nara will use his tapasya to bring him back to life. Then nara will break second 1 and Narayan will bring him back to life. So they exhausted his 999 kavach and kundal when nara was going to destroy the last one dambodhava ran to sun for help. Nara Narayan cursed Surya for saving him that now his ansha will be part of dambodhava who gets reborn with kavach and kundal and nara will be able to break it then klling dambodhava and ansh of Surya within him

Therefore indrA has to ask karna to give it to him because if Arjun breaks it he will die

And Narayan needed his tapobal to bring Parikshit back to life so if he used it save Arjun Parikshit could not be revived

The Sahasra kavacha one is a story which we have disproved many times. In MB itself, there are two references saying Karna was the reincarnation of someone called Naraka. This Naraka was probably not the Naraka killed by Krishna. One Naraka is also mentioned in Ramayana, who is said to be 'a legendary hero who conquered whole earth'. This Naraka was the son of Viprachitti who was a sage acc to some, a previous deva acc to some. Anyhow MB doesn't count this Naraka with Viprachitti though Ramayana & other books do it. Since I personally give not much importance to incarnations, I don't buy this story either.
