Always With You- Part #1

It was a dark night with heavy clouds in the sky that were threatening to rain anytime. Baldev walked alone on a lonely street, feeling deserted and shattered. The words of his mother, the woman he loved and respected the most, echoed loudly in his mind. Each and every words of hers pinched his heart every time he remembered it.

"Beeji aap itna khudgarz kaise ho sakti ho? Itne saal mainu laad-pyaar dia, khudke vaaste. Gunjan nu majbur kia apne izzat da sauda karne ke vaaste. Koi beeji aisa kaise kar sakti hai? Kaise kar---" He was too tired and exhausted to even think and analyze anything further.

Sitting at roadside, he was blankly staring at the sky, expressionless. A breeze of air touched his face and played with his hairs. He closed his eyes and tried to calm his mind and soul.

Veera was passing by on her bike. She stopped on seeing Baldev and was quite surprised to find him alone. Reading his face, she somewhere understood that this was not the Baldev she knew. Something was definitely wrong. Quietly she parked her bike and sat beside him. Observing his expression carefully, she was sure that he was upset. Something big might had happen to make him depressed. "Ki hoya? Itthe kyun baitha hai?" she asked, concerned.

Baldev, coming out of his trance, looked beside him. "Tu? Itni raat ko baahar ki kar rahi hai? Ghar jaa abhi. Baarish hone wali hai." He said to her rightfully, forgetting all his sadness for the moment.

"Woh Krishi Vidyalaya ka kuch kaam tha. Tu das, koi pareshani hai ki?" Veera curiously asked. Her voice clearly portrayed her worry for him.

"Pareshani? Nahi toh." Baldev nervously looked away. He did not want her to know that he was vulnerable at that time.

Veera rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Oye Baldeva! Main tainu achchi tarah se jaanti hu, samjha. Aur abhi toh tu humesha wala Baldeva nahi dikh raha. Das mainu, ki gal hai?" She firmly asked. "Aur haan mainu jhoot bolne di himmat bhi naa kario." she added.

"Bola na kuch nahi hoya. Tu ghar jaa abhi. Baarish hogi toh jaana mushkil hoga. Jaa ab!" Baldev frustratedly exclaimed, got up and started walking away.

"Baldeva... sun toh! Oye Baldeva!" Veera called him out and followed him. "Baldev!" she sternly said and grabbed his wrist, preventing him to leave.

"Chadh mainu!" Baldev struggled to free his hand without facing her.

"Oye... Mainu mauka nahi dega tainu saahara dene ka?" Emotions took over Veera and she asked him in a soft, affectionate tone.

Baldev deeply sighed and turned to look at her. Veera was dumbfounded to see him so drained. "Beeji... mainu pyaar... nahi karti... Unhe toh sirf apni phikar hai. Apne vaaste mainu aur Gunjan nu istemaal karti rahi woh. Unke kaaran Gunjan itni majbur ho gai ki woh uss philim wale aadmi de naal---" he froze as he could not even think of the shameful act his mother had done. He kept his eyes lowered because he would hate anyone to see that he was so broken for the first time ever.

Veera covered her mouth in astonishment. Baldev sat down on the road. Unable to hold himself anymore, he hid his face behind his palm and started crying his heart out.

Initially Veera stood dumbstruck with her mouth wide open, but the next moment, she sat beside him on her knees. Having an urge to wipe away all his pain, she could not resist and eventually pulled him in a hug. Baldev rested his head on her shoulder and cried like an innocent kid. "Maine unpe rab ji se jyada bharosa kia, sab se jyada pyaar kia aur unhone sirf mainu apne faayde de vaaste istemaal kia." his voice expressed disgust as he said, "Meri beeji aisa---" his words were hardly understood as he wept.

"Sshh! Bas chup kar. Rona bandh kar." Veera stroked his hairs and rubbed his back, trying to comfort him and make him feel better. Baldev hid his face in her hairs and continued weeping. "Baldeva! Ab bas bhi kar. Mere vaaste!" she pleaded. Baldev slowly broke the hug, sniffed and eventually stopped crying. Veera cupped his face and caressed his cheeks, wiping his tears with her thumbs and shook her head, gesturing him not to cry.

Baldev sniffed again and stood up. "Chal tainu ghar chadh deta hu. Bohot raat ho gai, chinta kar rahe honge sab." he tried to sound normal, but his sadness was evident on his face and his voice.

"Thodi der baithte hai itthe. Veer ji aur Beeji nu keh dia ki aaj apne ek dost de naal rahungi. Toh woh log chinta nahi karenge. Abhi wahi jaa rahi thi main." Veera informed him sweetly.

"Kaunse dost de naal? Itni raat ko?" Baldev suddenly questioned her in a possessive, protective manner.

Veera chuckled. "Ek gal das mainu. Tainu lagta hai ki main kisi ladke de naal rehne jaaungi?"

"Haan toh tum sheher wale yeh bhi karte hoge." Baldev rolled his eyes and said with an angry pout.

"Lekin tu yeh bhool gaya ki main pehele Preetampura di Veera hu, aur main kisi ladke de naal itni raat ko nahi hongi." Veera confidently and proudly said.

"Mere naal toh hai tu..." Baldev confusedly exclaimed.

"Teri baat alag hai," Veera assured with a smile of belief and trust and a bit of mischievousness added to it.

Baldev backed off, gulped in nervousness and offered, "Chal ab!"

"Itthe baithna hai mainu!" Veera demanded stubbornly and walked to the side of the street. Baldev followed her, calling her out in annoyance.

Veera sat on a hilly area beside the street and gazed at the sky. "Yeh baarish kyun nahi hondi. Mainu bheegne da mann ho raha hai." she was excited like a child.

"Tu paagal ho chuki hai. Chal ghar..." Baldev ordered.

"Rukna! Tere naal achcha lag raha hai." Veera lovingly said, making Baldev's heart skip a beat.

"Baldeva, tainu ab tak kyun samajh nahi aa raha ki mainu ki sunna hai tere muh se." Veera thought while staring at him affectionately.

"Itni raat ko aise baahar nahi rehna hai tainu. Chal!" Baldev grabbed her arm but before he could drag her towards the bike, she pulled him down, making him fall close to her. Their eyes locked and they shared a moment accidentally, of unsaid emotions and feelings that flowed in between them.

"Ek gal dasu?" Veera asked affectionately.
"Ki?" Baldev murmured softly, his eyes deeply looking into hers and he was desiring to lose himself in them.
"Tere aakhon vich aasoon ache nahi lagte. Humesha haste raha kar, waise hi acha lagta hai tu mainu." Veera said, tenderly staring at him.
Baldev smiled genuinely at her words.

"Kasam de mainu. Kabhi nahi royega. Agar yeh todi na, toh sach mein payr pe maar maar ke haddiya tod dungi." Veera threatened, faking seriousness.

Baldev laughed. "Kasam nahi de sakta." he mischievously said.

"Acha?" Veera raised her brows and in no time, she stepped on his foot, causing him pain and this was not what he expected especially after they became friends some days ago. He whimpered in pain while she enjoyed it. "Tainu ki laga? Dost ban jaaenge toh tainu sherni nahi dikhegi kabhi?" she smirked. After a while, she moved away.

"Tu nahi sudhregi kabhi." Baldev shook his head in disbelief and later on grinned to see his Sherni. "Main sudhar gai toh tainu kaun sudharega?" Veera sarcastically questioned him and along with him, giggled, thinking that some things would never change, and their banters were definitely one of them.

Few minutes later, she turned serious and looked at him. "Sachchi, wada kar, royega nahi kabhi, mere vaaste. Main hu na tere naal." she paused and heaved a sigh. "Unke vaaste khush reh jo tainu... pyaar karte hai."

Baldev stared her in amazement just when she mentioned the word "love". "Chal mainu apne dost de ghar chadh de." Veera tried to distract both of them. Baldev gently agreed. Just when they were about to leave, the mother nature started pouring her blessing... Rains. ❤️

Wow Bidzie !!! You have turned that little idea into such an awesome story !!! I just cant see my Ballu sad ! Awww.. Poor baby ! 😭
