RIP Zubeen Garg: Assam icon's mortal remains reach Singapore airport; Armaan Malik sings Mayabini as tribute
RIP Zubeen Garg: The singer's mortal remains have reached Singapore from where they will be flown down to Delhi. Assam CM Hemanta Biswa Sarma will accompany the body to Guwahati.

The whole of Assam is in mourning. Zubeen Garg, one of the state’s best singers and cultural icons is no more. At 52, he died in Singapore after suffering seizure during a scuba diving incident. It seems he had seizures after a severe head injury some years ago. The mortal remains of the singer has arrived at Singapore airport. They will be brought to Assam and later flown to Guwahati. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma will personally accompany the body as the state prepares to bid farewell to their beloved Zubeen Da. Also, FIR has been filed against Shyamkanu Mahanta and Sidharth Sarma the organizers of this festival in Singapore.
It seems the cremation will happen at Assam Agricultural University located in Jorhat. It was his hometown. They have also decided to build a statue for him, which will be maintained by them. Many are demanding a Bharat Ratna for Zubeen Garg.

He said it is tough to believe that he is no know. Armaan Malik said he never had a chance to know him more as a person.
Assam pays moving tributes for its hero
Fans of Zubeen Garg have gathered outside his home with a van, speakers and are playing his songs. The cops have asked people to disperse by 9 pm. His wife Garima Saikia Garg tearfully asked everyone to maintain peace and cherish her husband with love, dignity and decorum. He got married in 2002 to her, and they weathered many storms together including death of his sister, Jonky Borthakur.
Zubeen Garg was born in Shillong, Meghalaya to Mohini Mohon Borthakur, a magistrate while his mother Ity was a singer. He grew up in Assam. In Bollywood, he carved his name with the viral song, Yaa Ali Madad Ali from Gangster.
RIP Zubeen Garg: The singer's body has reached the Singapore airport from where it will be brought to India. The police has requested people not to crowd outside his home in Kahilipara area. The body will be kept at the sports complex for people to come and pay homage. The state has declared two days for mourning.
