Part 11

Night of the Party...

Veera was busy getting ready. She didn't know what to wear.

Veera: "Beeji, chaiji, mainu bataiye na ki main kya pehnu?"

Beeji, chaiji, and Ranvi all smiled. Veera had noticed that they had been in an extremely good mood earlier today, for some reason.

Veera (thinking to herself): "Main bhi na bohot soch rahi hoon. Yeh khushi zaroor mere sahi salamat ghar vapis aane ke liye hai."

Beeji brought a nice pink lehenga, with pretty stones on it, and nice, matching earrings to go with it, for Veera to wear with it.

Beeji: "Veera, tu yeh pehenle. Tu isme bahut sundar lagegi."

Veera: "Beeji, yeh toh bahut sundar hai. Thank you. Main yahin pehnungi party mein."

Veera was now very happy and began getting ready.

Back at Baldev's house...

Baldev was also busy getting ready for the party. After all, tonight would be the night he would ask Veera to marry him.

Jaggi: "Paaji, yeh neela vala kurta aap par bahut jajta hai. Veera toh aap par lattu ho jayenge."

Balli: "Haan paaji, Veera zaroor aapse shaadi ke liye haan kahegi."

Baldev smiled, appreciating Jaggi and Balli's compliments. Baldev thought back to how without Veera finding out, earlier in the day, Baldev had gone to her house, and got Ranvi, Ratan chaiji, and chaiji's blessings and permission to propose to Veera. After everything that had happened, Ranvi had a much more positive view about Baldev.

At the party...

Almost all of the people from the pind were there. When Veera arrived, everyone cheered for her. Veera smiled, and was busy looking for the person whom she couldn't wait to see, but she couldn't find him anywhere. Finally, her eyes fell on him. Seeing Baldev wearing the blue kurta, and jacket, it took Veera's breath away, he looked so handsome. Veera and Baldev shared an eyelock. Baldev was also mesmerized by Veera's beauty, in the pink lehenga that she had on.

Baldev went up to Veera and whispered in her ear.

Baldev: "Tu aaj bahut sundar lag rahi hai. Agar saare pind wale yahan nahin hote, to main apne aap ko rok nahin paata."

Veera blushed.

Veera: "Accha. Tu bhi bahut changa dikh raha hai iss kurte main."

Veera had noticed that Bansuri was the only person who wasn't there. Even Gunjan was there, despite everything that had happened.

Veera: "Baldev, chaiji ithe nahin aayi?"

Baldev's expressions changed to sadness, but he quickly recovered.

Baldev: "Voh unki tabiyat theek nahin hai. Issliye voh nahin aa payi. Lekin ab voh theek ho jaigi. Tu chinta mat kar."

Veera became worried for Bansuri. Despite the bitter feelings Bansuri had towards Veera, Veera was still concerned for Bansuri.

Veera and Baldev enjoyed themselves at the party, and they even danced to a few songs. Suddenly a slow song started to play. Veera at first didn't notice that Baldev had bent down on his knee with his hand out to her. Veera noticed that the music stopped playing, and people had suddenly become quiet. That was when she noticed Baldev bent down on his knee.

Veera (smiling, not believing what was happening): "Baldev, tu ki kar raha hai?"

Baldev (with all of his confidence): "Veera, kya tu mujhse shaadi karegi? Haan bol de, varna menu bhi aata hai ke tujhe kaise manau."

Veera was so happy.

Veera: "Haan, Baldev. Main tujhse shaadi karungi."

Baldev happily put a nice diamond ring on Veera's ring finger, and Veera, had tears in her eyes, she was so happy. Now, she understood why beeji, chaiji and her veerji were so happy earlier. Baldev had already told them what he was going to do.

Baldev and Veera hugged each other. Everyone clapped for them. Balwant came and blessed Veera and Baldev, who then touched his feet to get his blessings. Ratan, chaiji, and Ranvi also blessed them.

Balwant: "Ab toh sagai ho hi gayi. Ab bahut jald shaadi bhi karva lete hai, kyun Ratan parjaiji aur Ranvi?"

Ranvi: "Yeh toh bahut acchi baat hai tayaji. Lekin itne kum samai mein taiyaari?"

Ratan: "Haan bhaisaab, Ranvi theek keh raha hai. Taiyaariyan karne mein thoda waqt lagega."

Balwant: "Parjaiji, aap chinta mat kijiye. Hum sab sambhal lenge. Aakhir ab Veera hamare ghar ki beti jo hone wali hai."

Everyone was happy. Veera and Baldev smiled at each other, happy that finally things were going well for all of them.

The party was now getting over. Everyone was leaving. Suddenly, Veera saw Balli and Jaggi coming to talk to her.

Jaggi: "Veera, aapko beeji bula rahin hai."

Veera thanked Jaggi and went to look for Ratan. She couldn't find her anywhere in the hall. Suddenly, someone's hand grabbed her and pulled her inside one of the rooms.

Veera, without thinking punched the person with her elbow. She heard the person scream out in pain. The voice sounded familiar. It was Baldev.

Veera (in anger): "Baldev, tu ithe?"

Then Veera realized what was happening. It was Baldev who had told his chamchas to call her, with the excuse that beeji was looking for her.

Veera smiled.

Baldev: "Kya karoon, tere bina nahin jee sakta na. Teri bahut yaad aa rahi thi."

Veera: "Accha, poori raat hum saath the, phir bhi tujhe meri yaad aa rahi hai. Ab mujhe jaane de. Beeji, chaiji aur veerji soch rahe honge ke main kahan gayi."

Baldev: "Tujhe ek shart par chod dunga. Agar tu mujhe ek pappi degi toh."

Veera (blushed): "Shaadi se pehle?...Accha theek hai. Aankhe bandh kar."

Baldev got excited, and closed his eyes and waited.

Veera kissed Baldev, but on his cheek. Baldev was a little disappointed at first, but still happy that Veera had kissed him, even if it was only on his cheek.

Baldev: "Theek hai, ab ja."

Later that night at Baldev's house...

Once Baldev got back home, along with Balwant and Gunjan, Gunjan went upstairs to speak to Bansuri who was probably the only person who had not attended the party/engagement.

Bansuri: "Aa gaye sab log, uss Veera ko bahu banakar."

Gunjan: "Beeji, aap bhi na! Aapko vahan hona chahiye tha."

Bansuri: "Tu ki keh rahi hai? Tujhe pata hai na ki agar Veera iss ghar mein aayegi, toh mujhe toh dil ka dohra padega.Aur tu ne uss Veera ko maaf kar diya. Uski vajah se teri shaadi toot gayi, aur tu videsh nahin ja payi."

Gunjan smiled. She had already thought of a plan based on Bansuri's exaggeration.

Gunjan: "Beeji, aapko kya lagta hai ki Veera iss ghar ki bahu banegi? Mere hote hue yeh nahin hoga. Mere paas ek plan hai. Iske liye mujhe aapki madad chahiye hogi."

Gunjan told Bansuri her plan. Bansuri was very happy.

Bansuri: "Gunjan puttar, main galat thi. Tu hi meri asli puttar hai, bilkul mere jaise, Baldev nahin."

Gunjan smiled, happy that Bansuri praised her for a change, instead of Baldev.

Part 12

At Veera's house...

Wedding preparations had fully begin. In just 2 days, it would be Veera and Baldev's wedding. With Balwant's help, Veera, Ratan, Ranvi, and Chaiji had got decorators and caterers for the wedding. Veera was really happy, and she couldn't believe that finally she and Baldev were going to get all the happiness they deserved after the tough times they went through together in the past.

Veera (thinking to herself): "Thank you rabji. Mainu pata tha ki inn sab pareshaaniyon ke baad, Baldev aur mujhe finally khushi milegi. Bas aap aise hi hamara saath dena, aur kabhi kisi ki buri nazar na lage."

Ranvi was busy telling the caterers and decorators what had to be done, when he noticed Veera standing and smiling to herself. He was happy to see his sister get the happiness she deserved.

At Baldev's house...

Baldev had not really got any sleep the previous night. He was so excited, thinking about how Veera will finally become his wife, and how so much had changed between them. After everything that they had been through, their relationship had become even stronger.

Baldev: "Veera, bahut jald hum dono pati aur patni banenge. Phir jo mera hai, vo tera bhi hoga."

Baldev smiled.

Later that night...

Veera looked at her mehendi, which had Baldev's name and smiled. She knew that the color would darken, signifying Baldev's undying, true love for her.

Suddenly, she heard a knock at her bedroom door.

Veera: "Iss waqt kaun ho sakta hai? Veerji, aur beeji toh abhi tak bahar hai shaadi ke kaam karne vaaste."

Veera opened the door and was surprised to see Gunjan there, especially after everything that had happened earlier. And she was not alone, Bansuri was there with her.

Instantly, Veera thought about Baldev and became worried, especially after seeing Gunjan, who seemed to have been crying earlier.

Veera: "Gunjan didi aur chaiji, aap yahan iss waqt? Baldev theek hai na? Ki hoya?"

Veera was very worried.

Gunjan: "Veera, voh kya hum andar aa sakte hai? Tujhse bahut zaroori baat karni thi."

Veera let Gunjan and Bansuri in and waited to hear what they had to say.

Bansuri and Gunjan looked at each other, with Gunjan nodding at Bansuri to speak first.

Bansuri: "Veera, tenu pata hai ki main uss raat tere aur Baldev ki party/sagai mein kyun nahin thi? Voh.. uss raat, kuch ghante, sach batau toh main iss rishte se khush nahin thi, aur mujhe bahut gussa aaya tha Baldev aur tere tayaji par. Iss gusse ki vajah se mujhe dil ka dohra hone wala tha. Lekin Baldev ne doctor ko sahi waqt bulaya. Toh ab main theek hoon. Mujhe pata hai ke zaroor Baldev ne tujhse iss baare mein kuch nahin kahan."

Veera was shocked and upset. She couldn't believe that all this had happened and Baldev hadn't told her. She thought back to the day of their engagement party and how she had asked him why his beeji wasn't there. Baldev had told her that she wasn't feeling well, but was now doing okay.

Veera (thinking to herself): "Baldev ne mujhse itni badi baat chupayi?"

Bansuri and Gunjan saw Veera's expressions and smiled at each other, without Veera noticing.

Bansuri: "Veera, main tujhse kuch maangne aayi hoon. Agar tu hamare parivaar ko khush dekhna chahti hai, toh tu Baldev se yeh shaadi tod degi."

Bansuri had joined her hands together, requesting Veera when she said this. Veera was shocked and her eyes began to well up with tears. She was at a crossroads. If she continued ahead with this wedding to Baldev, Bansuri's health might be negatively affected, and this would upset Baldev and the rest of the family. But if she didn't get married to Baldev, only then would Bansuri be happy.

Veera: "Lekin Baldev? Usse main kya kahungi? Voh toot jayega."

Veera choked up, and couldn't control her tears anymore.

Bansuri: "Veera, tu uski chinta mat kar. Main aur Gunjan sab sambhal lenge. Lekin Baldev ko pata nahin chalna chahiye ki main aur Gunjan yahan tujhse milne aaye the."

Veera looked at her mehendi, and this time teardrops fell on her mehendi. How could she face Baldev after she breaks off their marriage. And Baldev, he would not back off so easily. He would fight for her. Veera had to be strong in front of Baldev.

Veera (in a sad voice): "Theek hai. Main Baldev se shaadi nahin karungi. Main nahin chahti ki meri vajah se aapke aur Baldev ke beech dooriyan ho. Main usse kal milungi."

Bansuri (acting all sincere): "Theek hai puttar. Main jaanti hoon ki tu Baldev se bahut pyaar karti hai, aur ab bahut dukhi hai, lekin aaj jo tune kiya hai mere liye, main iss ehsaan ko kabhi nahin bhoolungi."

Bansuri and Gunjan left from there, smiling at each other, happy that their plan had worked. Veera was left in her room, distraught, and in tears after what had just happened.

The next day...

Veera called Baldev on the phone.

Baldev: "Arre vaah Veera! Kal hamari shaadi hai aur tu abhi se mujhe milna chahti hai. Itni bechaini."

If it was any other time, Veera would have laughed, and been happy to hear Baldev say this. But not today.

Veera: "Baldev, mujhe tujhse bahut zaroori baat karni hai. Tu mujhse abhi mil sakta hai?"

Baldev realized that something wasn't right. Veera didn't sound her usual self.

Baldev: "Veera, tu theek toh hai? Menu aise kyun lag raha hai jaise tu udaas hai."

Veera tried to act like she was okay and happy.

Veera: "Nahin toh. Ab jaldi aa mere ghar."

Baldev: "Accha theek hai. Lagta hai tu menu bina dekh kar bechain ho rahi hai. Abhi aata hoon."

Baldev laughed, happy that Veera wanted to see him, not knowing the real reason behind it.
