Yet, the question that begs to be asked is how did RM/ G know he would abdicate and so soon? Their entire plan hinged on bringing out the greedy side of the Kunwars/ BRM and the coronation drama was key to that...that part makes no sense..unless he was in on their plan!

He was sincere and yet he was coherent...it did not feel like a rash, impulsive or emotional decision...more like something well thought out...frankly, am not sure...!

Yet another indication that he was in on their plan!

So, is the rom-com how he apologises to her for believing that she had lost her marbles and almost subjecting her to the electric shock? I gather that he is serious at first and, as is her wont, she turns it into levity to help diminish the painfulness of the truth that he has to apologise for. She did that during their dinner at the dargah too.

If I forget my quest for logic, in a way, the use of the mask as a plot-device was poetic. Badi Rani Maa used a mask to get the fake Sulakshana in and try and separate the couple by proving her to be unhinged. And, now she uses a mask to bring the truth to the fore and gives Badi Rani the illusion, even if only for a moment, that she is losing her marbles!

I saw the spoiler video. They are back to rom-com immediately after such a revelation!

Does he not need time to absorb the impact of what this means? A betrayal by a person whom he trusted for so long? A woman he trusted over his mother?

I am hoping that this is another indication that he has had a long, long time to come to terms with that -- ever since Jhumki admitted to the truth -- and that he has only been playing along so far.

@anobserver : My understanding of the story is limited to the written updates in the forum over the last one month. I haven't seen the Friday episode. I dont think it matters at all that Rana Deo knew about Gayatri's (and anyone else?) plan about hoodwinking and playing corpse!! Either way, if the romance is already underway, the Creatives are in a tearing hurry. Or there could be some scenes where all is revealed. 😊 I hope so. I feel sometimes that ETR2 could be a limited edition. 😃
There is nothing else left in the story now, except for the rom-com's (incl. Swarna-Lakhan). Else, what...???

The only possibility for damage control would be to show that RNJ was updated on the plan...at least before the abdication announcement...that would answer at least a few of the questions...!

True..the use of the mask by G as well was poetic justice...BRM's own strategy backfired on her...to the extent that it raised questions on her mental health possibly...

Rekha, I am glad that you are still lured to read the updates.

Au contraire, it makes a huge difference as to his characterisation.

If I may draw a hypothetical analogy -- What if Gayatri had known about the debt that the Kingdom owed her father and had still gone ahead with the marriage, whilst in her fantasyland, despite Ranaji's curt behaviour -- time and again -- since their engagement? She didn't know about the debt and I, for one, was willing to give her the leeway of continuing to live in her fantasyland. Had she known about, I would have certified her a nincompoop and lost interest in her character and would have been unable to empathise with her.

'Tis the same here. Knowledge does make a difference.

Yes, they have been in a tearing hurry for quite a few months. I wish that it had been a limited edition -- even for a year. Had they taken their time in that year, they could have created a masterpiece. They have a stellar cast and they had the setting to make the stuff that dreams are about.

Yet, I am also glad that once they commenced on their tearing hurry, they haven't slowed down. In not very many desi serials have I seen the main villain getting his comeuppance within four months of the start of the series!

We've had Jhumki unmasked, Sulakshana's murder revealed -- meaning no real bigamy track -- and the murderer being put away within four months of the series beginning, within three months (is it?) of the marriage of the leads and about a month and a half since they got together as a couple. This is a welcome change!

I am so hoping for that. But, then again, we have his talk to the moon / Gayatri with the bangle clutched in his hand! Was it for an audience of none? All the conspirators were gathered around the throne. So, it couldn't have been for their benefit!

Wooster, check the exclusive picture on the main forum.

It appears that he was made privy to the fact that she is alive only the night before the coronation.

But, Ranaji and Rajmata were attired in the same clothes even before the funeral rites. So, there's still some hope.

Yeah...well..G is in a different set of clothes...from what she wore at the drowning or when she was the corpse...

But that talking to stars was so strange...you don't tell the wife, whose corpse you've just burnt, to come back after fighting with her stars...!

Even that decision to abdicate in favour of Kunwar...it felt like a well thought out, rational decision ( notwithstanding the irrationality of handing over governance to a man whom you know to be against the interests of the common man)...not the product of a grief stricken mind...with a corpse still waiting to be disposed with, the urgency of resolving matters of governance...that would make absolutely no sense..unless it is done with a motive...!

I really wonder if they think as much as we do...everything is done for the impact of the scene...no matter if it adds to or takes away from the larger picture...!

Berts- On Ranaji abdicating - I think, this time he wasn't planning to come back ever, unlike the previous times when he left the Kingdom in RM's care when he had plans to come back, either after licking his wounds or after settling nicely in Darjeeling.

Losing G is not something he was going to get over, like he did over Sulu.He was leaving Ameerkot, never to return this time.

Even if he hands over to RM, he has to come back after her time, as he is the legal heir after her.

RM& G- i think, they were planing to play bhoot-bhoot & gather evidence against BRM and changed their plan after RNJ's googly.

IMO, RNJ got pulled in to the plan after the funeral and if he was convinced of BRM's criminal intentions, from the ceremony it did seem he knew about her real face, he was just going along to get her confession & prosecute her.

About asking the dead wife to come back, seems like he says that in grief😆 He asked Sulu come bacck under impossible circumstances too.

What is the difference in the way G and RNJ treat each other?
Gayatri's actions are selfless- a mad devotion to him.
RNJ's is apologetic- proof driven as his nature is.

Soon after the dargah, RNJ was apologetic..about misunderstanding Gayatri...and his attraction to Gayatri started as a fascination for who she actually is. When Sulakshna came back, he still was in TWO minds...his duty was as important as his feelings for G. But they established it with no doubt that RNJ had settled for the only one woman in his life, even when Sulakshna came back.

Now post BRM khulaasa-

That hug RNJ gave BRM at the coronation was genuine and painful... despite the person she turned out to be...bu his sense of justice as a king prevails over every other sentiment..unlike it was when he thought he had lost Gayatri forever. I would like to think that scene of Swarna breaking down as she tries to tell him of G's death and the subsequent heart break of RNJ's was genuine. I am willing to write off everything else RNJ did in its aftermath as temporary INSANITY! 😆

But this roothna manaana spoiler...He is again apologetic...❤️...When will RNJ love Gayatri for who she is, instead of for what he did to her?

Perhaps he already has...he had that fb of her feeding the old lady in the dargah...that was him appreciating Gayatri, the person. 😳

On the whole, I feel RNJ's love story is still being written...very soon he is going to admire other things about Gayatri too...

When did he know she was still alive? I am guessing after he caught the little night party...RM must have told him after that?...And from then on, it was all an Act.

They wanted RNJ to be indirectly responsible for the expose, I suppose...at least the timing etc...but in the process they made a lie out of every teardrop that he shed at the dargah over the fact that he had let his personal grief distract him from his royal duties...

The mahaan FL had to dramatically waltz into court to prove her point...so they had to turn him into a bhagoda...but as he himself said, " aap ke pyaar mei humein zillat bhi manzoor hain!"

Moral of the story - Even a King doesn't stand a chance in the face of the FL's mahaanta!

P.S - He had just burnt her corpse with his own hands, Sim ...at least Sula's body had never been found...😆
