Yet another irreverent observation: Gayatri claims that she cannot sleep until she sees the moon. So, didn't she sleep during the New Moon phase? Sleep deprivation. Poor chit. No wonder she would daydream!

I always found it a bit suspicious that the writers placed Sulokshana's death / disappearance as having occurred six years ago.

Were it not for the fact that polygamy was then an accepted norm and legal, Gayatri's and Ranaji's marriage would have been illegal as the presumption of death would arise only after seven years had passed since the disappearance.

The Hindu Marriage Act was passed in 1955. So I assume polygamy was no crime, certainly not for kings. But I would be curious to know about Gayathri's position as Queen. She has been crowned and is officially queen. How would Sulakshana's return impact that? As the first wife, she would be the chief queen and Gayathri would just be a co-wife. This could impact the royal family politically! Also the British could choose to play their games over this. However, with independence around the corner, don't think the British officers would have been interested in getting involved in anything more than petty conspiracies.

However, another point intrigues me. With Sulakshana's return, the possibility of an heir brightens! How would it benefit the conspirators to bring back Sulakshana? Because it is fairly obvious that they are behind it , one way or the other. Maybe they imagine that once Gayathri is eliminated, getting Sulakshana out won't be such a big deal!

Yes, polygamy was legal for every one, rank and status notwithstanding, unless a particular custom dictating otherwise held the force of law in a particular region.

You are right regarding the politics that could attend the existence of two Queens. However, I fear that the only politics that we will be treated to is "kitchen" politics. At most, they might venture down the path of politics around Swarnalekha's situation. Re the British, you are right. In the aftermath of the Second World War, they frankly wouldn't have pursued any further political activity to impede a King's lineage. It would, at most, be the instance of a British official colluding with political rivals of the King, for financial reasons.

If it is a conspiracy, the conspirators could just as well have come up with reasons that will have the King restrain from having conjugal relations with his first wife. If it is Badi Rani Maa who is the instigator, she does have the ability to conjure up her royal physician who will declare that she is still frail, or better yet, that she has lost her memory (if the lady who appears to be Sulakshana is in cahoots with them) and she needs time.

And, if their aim is to prevent Ranaji from begetitng an heir, their plan appears to be to introduce the first "wife" and have her hover around to dampen the King's ardour for his second wife. They know, thanks to the veiled lady, that the marriage has not yet been consummated.

Ah yes...the memory card...or frail health...that may well put an end to any possibility of conjugal relations...but TRP games may dictate that Sulakshana become a Menaka and tempt Ranaji...how else will he have guilty visions of his 'moments' with Gayathri..of course, the ardour will now be taken care of...

Like you said, I am sure it is kitchen politics that they will aim at...and that I don't watch...if I did, there are a hundred other options around...!

There's news on I-F here of the Casanova that Kokila hires for her nefarious purposes.

One can always hope that he ends up flirting with Sulakshana or the lady who looks like her and that she finds her true love in him! After all, Sulakshana only declared that she is Ranaji's true love, not that he is hers.

😆

Interestingly, whether intentional or otherwise, Sulakshana came across as a petulant control freak...maybe poor Ranaji thinks that is what true love is...or is it the creatives?

Hi.. But whether or not six years Gayatri is crowned the new Queen of Amerkot.. even if Sul returns... I guess the queen status remains with Gayatri.. How stupid it would be to now again give the Queen status to Sula.. Though Polygamy was accepted .. still it will be such a difficult situation for Gayatri.. to stay in the same palace and witness Ranaji romancing with Sula.. .. Its better she leaves the palace at once.. nd go to her Maykaa.. and return only after that Sula has gone for ever...
