Barkha, extremely lovely update. Kalpana's decision sounded fair, but Dadu's explanation was the only solution for her to set things right. Judgement of other people affects every being so much that they lose the essence of their own thinking caps, and let emotions take over with a fear of being judged.

Last Chapter

After that party many more parties were held for business associates, friends and relatives. In every party Kalpana stood out remarkably. The alliance between Singhania & Mehra's was now known to entire business world. After the first party which started off as a horror and ended on a very healthy note, she started learning the lifestyle of Singhania's. It took much longer than needed, courtesy Raghav who every now and then blackmailed Radhika or Kavya and stole their time to be with her. They talked and met frequently and got to know more about each other. The more they came to know the more they fell in love with each other.

Two months later

Raghav called her up in the mid night. She didn't take the first call because that was obvious who will take the call at 3 am! He called again and after 2 more calls she picked up the phone. "Hello "Are you sleeping? She yawned and denied. "No was taking a walk in the garden. He laughed and she hissed. "Why are you calling me so late? "I cannot sleep. "Raghav I am feeling very sleepy and have to wake up early to go for shopping with Bhabhi, Di and Kavya. Please let me catch some sleep. If they will see any dark circles on my face they will throw me to parlour. Please. "Kalpana do you remember my best friend Samar? "Of course I do. You have talked so often about him. "He is coming back from USA and he got to know from Kavya that I got engaged. He has asked me to receive him at the airport. She knew Samar and Raghav are childhood buddies and the situation will turn worse once they meet physically. Chances of Raghav getting beaten up are higher. Before she can offer to help, Raghav continued "You have to accompany me tomorrow. I cannot handle him on my own. He is a bit chivalrous, won't do anything in your presence. Please come with me and take the heat off from me. You know how he will react? She laughed but eventually agreed. "Okay I will but there is one condition. "Kalpi don't take advantage of my situation. "Soch lo. After a while he agreed. "Bolo kya condition hai. She laughed at his irritation and put forth her marvellous condition. "Mere liye mmm...na puri family ke liye concert karna hoga. You with the guitar and Samar with the drums. Surprise was a small word to express his emotions. "If you'll do this for me then I'll accompany you otherwise... good night Raghav. She didn't keep the phone but waited for his reaction. After containing his emotions and composing himself he agreed. "I'll. Morning 6 a.m. be ready. "Okay. Good night. "Night.

"His flight has landed; he will come out any moment. Remember you have to save me; don't switch sides to have your own share of fun on my expense. She laughed loudly looking at the fear on her fianc's face. "You are thinking too much Raghav. He got irritated even more looking at how she is taking the whole situation so lightly. "He is your best friend. Of course he is hurt that you got engaged in his absence but at least you're marrying me in his presence and as a best friend I think he will understand. After all he knows how many girls you have rejected in these two years. Now this makes me wonder what he will think about me. She thought deeper about it. "Kalpana he will think highly for you. You're such a beautiful human being. Just relax. There he is. He heaved a sigh and waited for the bomb to explode. He was already looking angrily at him.

"Very smart! Brought Kalpana along so I cannot shout on you and leave a bad impression on her. "Dude I am sorry! Please don't be angry on me. C'mon we are best friends. He just stared at him shooting daggers whilst Kalpana observed him. "Hi she said politely. His attention diverted to her and everything seemed forgotten. She had accompanied Raghav in her slacks and t-shirt. No pretence. "Kalpana "Hello and I know, Kavya sent me yours and Raghav's engagement pic. His expressions changed and now a proud smile graced his face. Smile that reflected his happiness in Raghav's decision of choosing her as life partner.

"I am sorry for my rude behaviour but I hope you understand the reason behind it. I mean.. She cut his words in between "I can completely understand, best friends are family and they have every right to be included in the special moments. I am sorry everything got decided so fast.. Now he cut her words "It's completely fine. I am glad he chose you. I have heard so much about you from Kavya that I was really excited to meet you. I am happy that he brought you along. She elbowed Raghav in his ribs and he who up until now was absolutely left out of scene suddenly came to the forefront. He asked her through eyes what she wanted while her lips curved in the words condition. He realised what she wanted while Samar witnessed the scene. They are just so made for each other, he thought. He cleared his throat and they both got a bit startled. "Is there something which I need to know? "Aaa...aaa...actually there is something, I mean she kept a condition before me to be here. He was taken aback. She didn't look like a person to do things with conditions attached. "She wants us to play. "Play what? he asked almost immediately. "She wants us to hold a musical concert. . He was speechless. It has been a long time they played together. They got so much engrossed in making their careers that music which actually deepened their bond got left behind. "Of course his voice trembled, fighting back the emotions which were ready to come out in the form of tears. "We will play for you. he said coming near Raghav . "It will be a pleasure for the both of us. "You both will play before the entire family. I can already visualise how they will feel about it.

Her phone buzzed and they all got out of the moment of reverence. It was from her mother. "Kalpana how much time you'll take? You have to go for shopping. You're getting late. "Oh no! I am coming. She hung up and turned to look at Raghav. "Ghar se phone tha. I am getting late for shopping, jaldi chaliye.

Shopping was a tiresome thing for her. If she had the reins in her hand she would have married Raghav in some simple clothes with no sho sha, but that wasn't certainly the case. She was trying clothes endlessly and it seemed there was no way to escape. She came out of trial room again to let others decide what was looking good on her. By now they have pretty well guessed that she is not a shopping girl and she will definitely not buy things that are supposed to be purchased for such occasion. They were scrutinising her when her eyes caught some known figure. "Raghav. she whispered. She tried to read his face but failed at first attempt. She then noticed that he was looking at her from head to toe and signalled that the dress wasn't looking good on her. She lowered her eyes and blushed with shyness on seeing Raghav taking keen interest in her costumes. She smiled a bit but immediately straightened her face and looked at the trio who were oblivious to his presence. They were too busy to decide whether she is looking good in that gown or not. "I didn't like it much. She announced. Her voice was very firm as if she knew it from the start that the dress didn't look well on her. "I am changing and will show you another one. They were all surprised by her sudden change of mood but couldn't point out why. Shopping became a little more than just buying stuff. A romantic feeling got attached to it. Every dress that she selected was approved by him. She was more than eager to try the dresses only to show it to Raghav. His approval is what all mattered.

Things didn't end there; when Raghav reached home in the evening he was given a catalogue to select outfits for himself. He went upstairs to the guest room since his room has gone under renovation to make it into a couple's room. He immediately called Kalpana and one by one he showed her all the designs. She made faces on seeing some of the designs which he found very cute while shortlisted some of them. After almost two hours they finally selected the designs. They were still on phone when Kalpana popped up the question "Why did you come there? as if not understanding intentionally he asked innocently "Where? "You know what I am talking? Aren't you? "Well ummm...I was in office when Samar came in and gave me this brilliant idea that I should go and help my fiance in choosing her dresses and why would I have said no! I mean I just look out for opportunities to be with you and he came with one and rest was easy. Why? Didn't you like it? There was a hint of tease in his tone and she just laughed. "You know what my answer is. "I very well know but I would like to hear it from you. Won't you fulfil my tini tiny wish? She laughed again over his antics and finally gave him the answer he wanted to hear.

Wedding day was getting closer but Kalpana was surprised that she was not getting any wedding jitters. "May be Dadu made everything simple for me she thought. He carved out her transition face so well. She was packing her camera when her thoughts drifted to the day when Raghav was going to come and meet her for the first time. How her father and Vishesh had planned to send her to US if things didn't work out for her. How she was anxious and needed fresh air to breathe and meet this man with whom she has now started to fall in love with. Going down the memory lane she remembered that day when she was ready to call off the engagement. She thought of herself as a fool then to decide as per the opinions if those who hardly mattered. She remembered when she came back and met her father. The conversation they had. She just asked one question, the question that was eating her from inside. That question was one of the reasons why she wanted to call off the engagement.

"Papa...I don't know how to ask this but I want to be sure. Papa her father looked at her curiously to know what has been bothering his daughter since the start of the party. "Tell me freely all that you have stored inside you that you want to share. "Papa... She wanted to put it correctly and subtly. He searched her face for possible hint but there was only confusion. After taking her time to process the question she asked "Sab manage ho jayega na? He looked at her as if trying to understand the hidden meaning behind the question. "Papa there is a big gap between us and them. I know we are financially strong but I don't know how to say this. She stood and went near to the balcony. "Papa I don't want Di to feel bad about this difference...you know what I am trying to say right. His father had no words. He was feeling proud of his daughter. He came near to her and affectionately kept her hand on her head. Her big eyes were now filled with tears. "I am proud of you. " She hugged him tightly and allowed herself to release her tension in the form of tears on her father's shoulder. "You trust your father right. She nodded in affirmative. "Then just forget about everything. Your parents will do everything rightly and if I deviate I now know you are there. She hugged him again and took a long deep breath, finally everything has settled well.

He phone buzzed and brought her out of the reverie. It was Raghav. She regained her poise. "Hello "Started packing. Ha she smiled. "The day is approaching Kalpana. Nervous. "Na. He found strange that she was answering in mono syllables. "Kalpi are you alright? She understood she has to correct herself. She cannot let Raghav know about what she was thinking. "Kalpana... "I am completely fine. I was packing stuff so was basically focused on that. "Okay They both talked, conversation was now not difficult. It flowed as if they knew each other since ages. They talked about everything.

With the D-day getting closer Radhika was getting more and more curious. From that day when they heard Raghav and Kalpana her woman instinct was telling her that something more was there in the conversation between Kalpana and Dadu. She wanted to know. Kalpana was not amongst those girls who can easily give into the opinion of others. There has to be something more. Finally she decided she will go to the office and meet Dadu in person and get her curiosity answered.

A knock on door disturbed his call but he anyways allowed the person. He signalled her to sit. He finished his call and asked the reason of her visit. "Radhika, you have never met me in office, is everything fine with you? "I am just...I don't know how to put this...I am curious. "Why? Is something bothering you? Aren't you happy with the preparations? "No...No...It is not like that. I... she paused for a minute to understand whether she should actually have this conversation with him? Is she crossing her line? "Don't think too much if you are not sure what to ask? Just say it and let me decide if I want to answer. Wise as he is she spilled out her doubts to him. "What was that line that you understand everything' all about. I believe there was more to it than it sounded. I don't think Kalpana is a girl who would merely give into the opinion of others. She has to have a very strong reason to do that. I am not able to point out what it is but I am sure there is. He leaned back on his chair and looked at her with a deep smile. A smile that suggested, he will answer to her curiosity.

"Radhika I appreciate that you asked me. You are right there was more to it than giving into the opinion of others. Before choosing Kalpana I thoroughly checked her background. I knew Mehra's are respectable people of society and so are their elder daughter's family. What I really liked about her is that she is reasonable and down to earth. She thinks a lot before taking any step which is good sign. "I am sorry Dadu but I am unable to understand what to make out of this? "Radhika you don't have siblings. "So She was thoroughly confused. "Radhika there is no denying that there is status difference between us and them. Her elder sister is married to an almost similar status family, she doesn't want to make her feel inferior and the party we threw had made her rethink about her decision. Realisation dawned upon her and she was overwhelmed with emotions. She had thought so much about all the plausible reasons but couldn't come to this one. "She is so sensible. I mean she was thinking for her father, for her sister, she didn't want to put anyone in awkward position. Wow...she is amazing Dadu, she really is! "I know and that is why I felt proud of her. I would have been bit surprised had she not thought about this angle because I have really given a lot of time on this girl to be sure that Raghav doesn't say no and I came to realise that she is innocent but at the same time she is sensible and genuine, which is the best part. "How did you get to know about this reason when nothing was said explicitly? "I observed her throughout the party. That poor girl was literally having a hard time to put up a graceful smile. When I looked at her talking with her sister I got a bit cautious, so I messaged Vishesh but he was too much occupied to look into it so I followed them. "Dadu you are a genius, seriously I mean it. Nothing was said and yet you understood. "Well I have got my children married, I have got you married, I have my own share of experience you see. She laughed and nodded in affirmation.

"Sensibility is something that all people should possess. A person should always have knowledge about the ground reality. What they can do? What they cannot do? What is considered as a legit demand and what is improper to ask. Kalpana knew they were financially strong but she also knew they were not close to Singhania's. She fretted out when she got to know that Singhania's are coming for a possible alliance with them but momentarily gave into the happiness when Raghav said yes. She enjoyed her time but the party showed her the reality. She understood her father will be in a fix at some point of time and she surely didn't want him in that position. She didn't want her sister to feel low. She understood everything but what she didn't know was that her father is a strong man. If he has allowed Singhania's to meet them he surely knows what was going to come. The daughter in her made her think about the possible troubles her father can face and that forced her to think again about this decision.

"On the other hand Raghav's grandfather had made all the research on them to be sure he is taking the right desicion and he knew Dinesh Mehra was a very genuine man. He has raised his daughters very well and that is why Kalpana's nature touched him. He did not anticipate her reaction in the party but when he saw her, he knew she was getting worried and needs some space as well as advise and he stepped in the right moment.
