Allegations faced by Ashish Kapoor

Authorities are investigating allegations of sexual assault following a report by a complainant. Initially, the complainant reported that Kapoor, the party host, and two unidentified men committed the assault, with a woman also physically attacking her. However, her statement later changed, implicating Kapoor alone in the rape.

The case, initially classified as gangrape, is expected to be reclassified as rape. The complainant also claimed the incident was recorded, but investigators have yet to find any footage. Police have stated that Kapoor connected with the complainant on Instagram before inviting her to the party where the alleged assault took place.

Following an August 11 FIR naming Kapoor, his friend, his friend's wife, and two unknown men, the complainant amended her statement on August 18, accusing Kapoor and his friend of rape and the woman of assault. Despite this, Kapoor's friend and his wife were granted anticipatory bail on August 21.

Investigators found that CCTV footage and witness statements confirmed Kapoor and the woman entered a washroom together at the party, raising concerns among other guests. A heated argument ensued, continuing outside the venue. Police confirmed that the host's wife ultimately reported the incident via a PCR call. Legal proceedings are underway, with Kapoor facing rape charges, and the investigation is ongoing.

A senior police officer stated while talking to HT, The team has been looking for him. He was earlier traced to Goa, but when the team reached, he slipped away. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday.

The incident came to light on August 11 when the victim, a Gurugram-based professional, reported the assault.
