A Twisted Tale Part 3

In Chawl

Kalpi was tossing and switching her sides.

Kalpi's POV: what a day it was (recalling everything). For a moment I thought it's all over and will not enter this office ever again but thankfully everything was back on track by the end of the day. Raghav is not a bad person. But itna gussa aata kahan se hai usse. I'm sure roz roz bahar ka khana kha kha kr bheja fry ho gaya hai uska. Stop thinking about him nd so ja subha office bhi jana hai or sham ko party.. No i'm not going to the party. But Kalpi it's just a success party. No big deal you can go and come back in no time. Waise bhi it's a masquerade party kaun aaya kaun gaya kisko pata chalega. I'll think about it in the morning. Right now I better sleep.

Saturday Morning

It was a beautiful day with partial cloudy sky. Vithal, Kalpi and Pakiya were having breakfast.

Pakiya: you will come late tonight?

Kalpi: I don't know.

Vithal: aren't you going for the party tonight?

Kalpi: haven't decided on it yet.

Kamla: You should go as it's ur company's success party.

Vithal: ur aai is right. You should go & you r going.

Kalpi: I'll think about it. M going to office... bye!!!

Everyone: Byeee

At Singhania Constructions

When she entered the office she saw Sammy waving hand to her. She approached him.

Kalpi: Hi Sir

Sammy: arey yaaar (frustatingly). I told u not to call me Sir but Sammy (cheekily)

Kalpi: (smiles) Hi Sammy

Sammy: See, how beautiful it sounds.

Kalpi: ummm, how can I possibly see a sound (pretending innocent)

Sammy: woowooowooo, some has got humour now.

Kalpi: (Mocking) someone has got sense now.

Sammy saw Pakhi coming towards them.

Sammy: (nervously) she's is coming here. What should I do?

Kalpi: (rolls her eyes) Impress her!!!

Sammy: Impress' her (stresses on the first word) I've been trying that from the very first day but to no avail. She s all gaga over Raghav Singhania (pouting)

Kalpi: (sounding low) hmmm i can see that.

Sammy: (scowling) Tell me one thing, why on this earth only Raghav had to save her from that accident. I wish I was her knight in the shining armour.

Kalpi: (hesitates) What about mr akdoo... does he.. (pause) u know..

Sammy: (fills in her incomplete sentence)??? Acknowledges her that way??? Actually no... I think his mind is already occupied (smirks). Kalpi just nodded

Pakhi: Hey you two. Having some serious convo ?

Sammy: Very serious, it was life or death here.

Pakhi: Is this the line to which I'm supposed to die laughing.

Sammy: That would be the last thing in my mind.

Pakhi: thanx for ur mercy. Where is Raghav?

Sammy & Kalpi: (together) He's is not here. Sammy: He'll meet us in the party only.

Pakhi: (with long face) Ohhh!!! Kalpi tu aa rahi hai na party mein.

Kalpi: I don't feel like coming.

Pakhi: kya yaar but ur wish. Chal tujhe apni dresss dikhti hoon. (Pakhi took kalpi away)

Sammy: Girls & Girls ufff!

In afternoon... At Kalpi's home

Kalpi and Pakhi were sitting beside Kamla.

Pakhi: (excitedly) I wanted to show u this dress Kamla maa

Kamla: (lovely) you will look like the most beautiful princess in the world.

Pakhi: thnx Kamla maa. Pr dekho na Kalpi isn't coming to the party. Aati to mujhe bhi sath mil jata.

Kamla: Kalpi, Pakhi sahi kh rahi hai chali ja na uske sath.

Kalpi: (feeling sad and annoyed) there will be a lot of people to give her company, meri jarurat nahi hai usse.

Having said that Kalpi left the room. Kamla tried to call her but Pakhi interrupted

Pakhi: rehne do Kamla Maa, if she doesn't wanna come it's alright.

Same day 5 pm At Kapoor Mansion

Pakhi was leaving for the party and Kapoor Trio was really angry with her.

Neetu: Pooki bacha, plz don't go there. He is our rival; we will become a laughing stock in the society.

Pakhi: I don't care Neetu. And in case u have forgotten, let me remind you I work for his company.

Prem: but we do care. You are not going means you are not going!

Pakhi: Stop me if you can! (leaves in anger)

Prem: don't worry mom dad. Ye sb uss Raghav and Kamala baii ki wajah se ho raha hai. She took our Pakhi away from us but KAMLA baii now it's a payback time.

At Singhania Chawl

(Kalpiii) she heard Pakiya shouting. He came to Kalpi and handed her a parcel.

Kalpi: What is it?

Pakiya: I don't know. A lil kid asked me to give it to u. (looking around) has Pakhi left?

Kalpi: Why are u asking me ask aai.

Pakiya: ye bhi sahi hai... aaaiii (left room looking for Kamla)

Kalpi's POV: what is this, who has sent this. There is no name on it. She opened it curiously yet carefully. In it she found a cherry red coloured dress with a note saying, "I want you to come". Though there was no name mentioned on the parcel she in mind knew it could be no other than him Raghav'. I know he was guilty for yesterday's banter but this is so unexpected (feels the fabric of the dress)

Kalpi: this is so pretty. If not for myself I should go for Raghav at least. So get ready Kalpi (smilingly)

She looked herself in mirror. She was looking lovely. The dress fitted her really well she applied a little make up and wore the matching heels. Kamla was admiring her from the distance.

Kamla: you r going now??

Kalpi: tabhi to taiyar ho rahi hoon aaai

Kamla: badi payari lag rahi tu

Kalpi: (smiles) sach aai

Vithal: ekdum sachhi... rajkumari k jaise (hugged Kalpi)

Kamla: Main Pakhi ko bol deti hoon tujhe pick krne ko/

Kalpi: Nahi aai, maine already kisi ko bol diya hai. I'll meet her there only.

Just then she heard a car horn... Richa was waiting for her in the car.

Kamla: theek hai Kalpi tu ja.

Kalpi: bye aai bye baba.

Richa: (while driving) I must say.. u r luking gorgeous in this dress.

Kalpi: (shyly) thnx... u too look beautiful

Richa: but I'm no competition for u

Kalpi: yes because there is no competition (serious tone). Now concentrate on driving.

Richa: whateva!

Car stopped in front of a huge palace.Before entering the hall they chose masks for themselve . Kalpi was really nervous.

Party venue/Singhania Mansion

Raghav dressed in tuxedo was thinking about something.

Raghav's POV

The party has already begun why isn't she here yet. Did she like the dress what if she doesn't come. I really want her to come here. He saw her entering the hall. She is looking beautiful even with her face covered under the mask. He came down to join the party wearing mask.

Pakhi was looking for Raghav but bumped into Sammy meanwhile. They started chatting and dancing with each other.

Kalpi's POV: this place is so beautiful,,, beyond her imagination. Music is very loud, I should have brought something to cover my eyers. Loud music and disco lights are making it difficult to recognise anyone in the party.

As she was searching for a known face, a guy approached her

Guy: you look beautiful in this dress babes. Will u dance with me?

Kalpi: thnx, but I don't dance.

Guy leaves giving her a weird look.

Kalpi: (scolding herself) why did u come here Kalpi?

Only few minutes had past when one drunk guy asked her to with her.

Man: Dance with me beautiful (pulling her from her wrist)

Kalpi: (struggling) let go off me.

Before he could say another word, he felt a slight tap on his shoulder. He turned around only to see a masked man (Raghav) standing before him. His eyes were full of anger.

Raghav: leave her hand (angrily)

Man: who the hell r u and wht is ur problem (tightening his grip around Kalpi's wrist)

Raghav: I said leave her alone.

Man: chill dude...why getting hyper, if she is ur girl take her i'll find another one. But tell u what she is so hooo (he felt a tight punch on her jaw, left Kalpi's hand and started screaming in pain)

Raghav: Before I repeat this action, leave this party right away.

Kalpi & Raghav saw him leaving angrily. Kalpi was still massaging her wrist. She was trying to figure out who her saviour is.

Raghav: u alright?

Kalpi: what (could not hear him properly due to loud music)

Raghav: (Louder) Are u alright?

Kalpi: I'll be, thank u J

Raghav: This dress is looking very beautiful on you.

Kalpi: (embarrassed) well thank you.

If she wasn't wearing the mask, Raghav would have seen her cheeks going red .

Raghav: U r alone

Kalpi: yeah... but now I should leave.

Suddenly the music stopped and they realised themselves under the key light. MC announces them to come on the centre stage for a couple dance. They both were shocked. Everybody was cheering for them. Raghav could see how nervous Kalpi was.

Raghav: May I have the pleasure of dancing with you (extending his hand)

Kalpi: (almost whispering) No, I don't dance.

Raghav: everyone is waiting for us

Kalpi: I don't know if I can dance like this

Raghav: (encouraging her) Try me!! There was a confidence in his voice to which she could not deny further.

Kalpi: (holding his hand) I'm scared

Raghav: so m I

Both walked towards the centre stage. Kalpi's hands were trembling

Raghav: forget everyone just follow my leads. (kalpi nods in affirmative)

Music Plays (instrumental tango)

To Raghav's surprise Kalpi was the first one to start the dance

Raghav: (Smilingly) what was that

Kalpi: music just speaks to me

Raghav: (laughs) Then I think we don't have a language barrier.

They both were moving in sync as if they had been practicing it for ages. Raghav was impressed that Kalpi dances so well and so was Kalpi. She had a that this man is not unknown to her. (everyone was cheering for them)

Pakhi: look at them move... aren't they great.

Sammy: absolutely awesome. Don't u think u should give me a chance too

Pakhi: then let's go & dance (happily)

After the dance

Raghav: You said You can't dance

Kalpi: I said I don't dance, I never said I can't dance

Raghav: chuckled

Kalpi: (thinking why he is so familiar). What

Raghav: This is sooo... YOU!!!!

MC requested them to take off their mask. Raghav was the first to do so (people were lyk Raghav raghav Raghav). Kalpi went weak in her knees thinking He knew, he knew all this time that it was her behind this mask. Without wasting a moment she ran away from the stage. Raghav followed her.

Raghav: Wait Kalpi, why are you leaving?

Kalpi replied, still wearing mask and without facing him, Because I don't belong here!!

She walked off leaving Raghav dumbstruck. He felt Sammy & Pakhi's presence behind him.

Sammy: what happened, Pakhi: who was she??

Raghav and Sammy made an eye contact

Raghav: I don't know.. Sammy u stay here I need some time alone.

Raghav sits in his car and leaves.

Pakhi: Is he alright, why is he so upset.

Sammy: He needs to clear his mind. We should go inside.

At Kalpi's home

Vithal/Kamla: Kalpi tu aa gayi beta, how was the party tune enjoy kiya na?

Kalpi: Ya!! It was fun.

Kamla: you came alone where is Pakhi?

Kalpi was about to burst into tears but controlled herself: Baba, I was feeling tired so left early. Don't worry; Pakhi is having a time of her life there.

Vithal/Kamla asked her to rest and went to bed.

Kalpi couldn't hold her tears back. She wasn't sure if she was hurt because of Raghav or Kamla. She cried herself to sleep.

Raghav was driving towards Singhania Chawl.

Raghav's POV: What have I done. She must be thinking I did this purposely only to humiliate her before everyone. I need to explain her that It wasn't like that. He dialled her number but it was switched off. He dialled it again but same response. No matter what I need to clarify things with her. I'll talk to her in the morning.

Early morning

Kalpi wasn't feeling well but she decided to go to office.

Kalpi: I won't let Raghav win. I know he did all this to humiliate me so that I leave the office. But it's not going to happen. I'm going to confront him.

Raghav was waiting for her outside his office building. He saw Kalpi coming out of an auto. While crossing the road Kalpi saw a speeding truck coming towards her, she froze. The truck was about to hit her when someone pushed her away from the road. Next thing she could see was Raghav lying on the road bleeding.

Kalpi: (screaming) Raaaghav, somebody please help.

Raghav saw tears rolling down her cheeks before his eyes fall shut.
