Having fallen in love with Sandhya's character, I admit that what I say next could be a biased thought. But I assure you, I will try my best to be as objective as I can.😊
Now, I realize that you probably are not too happy with Sandhya after today's head-spinning episode, and maybe have even joined Chavi and Meena in placing all the blame on Sandhya. Don't get me wrong; I'm sure those who are blaming Sandhya probably have more valid reasons than those of Chavi and Meena, but my goal here is not to prove whether Sandhya is blameworthy or not. Rather, my point here is to argue that if one analyzes Sandhya's behaviour in today's episode, what she did was not very unexpected.
Yes, I was shocked initially (especially after Saturday's precap 😲), but now that I think about it, I feel that she was in line with her character. One of Sandhya's most obvious traits is her selflessness. As far as I can remember, she has never acted in a selfish manner. If she was selfish, she would've signed the divorce papers and went on to pursue her dream. Heck, if she was selfish, she wouldn't have even dreamed of becoming an IPS officer and dedicating her entire life to serve others!
Now, coming to the current circumstances, from Sandhya's POV, her dream of serving others was actually hurting her family. It had already caused a huge commotion (to say the least) in the morning, putting everyone against her beloved Suraj. The accusation that she is causing a rift between mother and son was emphatically expressed by bhabo, and the "hell kids". At dinner, she was blamed for damaging the mother-daughter relationship and a brother-sister relationship (although she didn't know it, she was even blamed for Meena's gluttony, which didn't even spare the hari mirch 🤔). And how can we forget Bhabo's emotional brainwash, where she literally added oil to Sandhya's burning dreams! She further blamed Sandhya, very sweetly ofcourse, for leading Suraj astray, and for neglecting her "duties". Now, when everyone around you starts blaming you, you are bound to start doubting your innocence. This is what Sandhya did. And her selflessness made sure that her dream, which is troubling others so much, would be at the bottom end of her list of priorities. All she had to do was to go through the SR and everyone's troubles will somehow disappear. (Unfortunately, she didn't take into account that Suraj is also known for his selflessness, and would not let Sandhya sacrifice her dreams, even for his sake; but that's another discussion). Alas, it is not that easy to forget a decade old dream after a single "tel ki maalish" 😉, hence Sandhya's hesitation and her being caught red-handed. So you see, she did what any naive selfless person would do, staying true to her character.
I admit what she did was not fair for Suraj, and that she might be too selfless for her own good; but that's what her character demands. Now, it would've been better if SurYa consummated their marriage soon after 'wo ai ni', so that they could've been in a stronger position to deal with current circumstances; but 'would've, should've, could've' can be a dangerous thing, especially for us audience members who have almost insignificant control over the story of the show.
On a related note, many of us are unhappy with Sandhya's set-up of the potential DBC (i.e. the filminess of it all 😕). Dedicating her teenage years to her studies, I doubt Sandhya had time to fantasize about her SR. As a result, I think all she had to go on was the few old bollywood films she might've watched. This is just my attempt to justify what she did (or what the CVs made her do, to be more precise).😛
Finally (thanks for bearing with me for this long!), as they say, 'be careful what you wish for'. After Saturday's precap, we were all wishing, praying, hoping, that the DBC won't happen. It seems we got our wish! Now that DBC is (wrongly) associated with Sandhya's dream, the chances of it happening are bleaker than ever! 🥺
OK! So after all that, I hope I justified Sandhya's actions, so as to lower the collective blood pressure of the forum members 😛. I am sure there are plenty of holes in my argument, which I urge you all to point out and discuss. I don't even mind being bashed, but just keep Sandhya out of it! 😡
