After all this discussion I thought why not get a point of view from a guy who has no idea about any of this and will give a totally non bias view. So I wanted to share with you a point of view from a person who is English and does not watch any Hindi programmes.
I made him watch the Jan episode and the July staircase scene. I informed him of the background of the storyline that was undergoing at the point of time during both those scenes. The first thing he said to me after watching those scenes was 'Are they allowed to show this on Indian tv? I thought they were a bit orthodox.' 😆
Anyway jokes apart, but he pointed out that there is nothing wrong in showing such scenes between two lovers, but why were they so glamorised? As in the way they were shot, I mean if the same scenes were shot in an English drama (not all of the dramas, just certain few which are watched by all ages) for e.g. Friends for instance has shown many kisses and even beyond. But they never make it look alluring, as in sensationalising that scene. He went on to add that if the production house are aware of their younger audience then may be they should make them less enthralling.
This is what he had to say about the actual scene.
Jan scene- He said that the scene was shot well, yes intense and very passionate, but it was an inevitable with the story as the two were going out, and the setting and the atmosphere of that scene was such.
July staircase scene (she is one confused girl, I would never go out with her if I was in the guy's place- His comment😆)- About the scene, he said she is just a confused soul, anyway barring that he said the hug, kiss on the cheek and forehead by the guy was fine, but thereafter the scene could have been better depicted. There was no setting to the scene for it to have led to what it did lead to. And if she does not want to admit to loving the guy, why does she want such physical closeness all of a sudden? And the only answer I had for him was that this is an Indian show, and she is a confused girl as you rightly said.
But this is what I was trying to say in my earlier posts on this topic, that there is a certain way of showing such scenes without making it look wrong.
On a lighter note, after watching the scene he now has this huge complex with Armaan, and has told me to never again watch this show. 😆 But he was happy to know that I actually stopped watching the show a couple of weeks ago. Anyway I just had to share an outsider's opinion with you guys, agreeing or disagreeing is up to you, and it is a mere opinion, not an enforcement.🥰 Everyone has a right to differ and we should just respect their point of view and opinion.
Cheers
