I think I concur with Rishu and Sweetrogue.
Love has its own place in life and so does money. But like it or not, money does play a very very important part for daily survival. The Tarun guy is dependent on his father's company for a job. There is every possibility that he may lose it if his father decides to fire him so I don't really blame the mother for asking for basic security before getting married.
When you're about to get married, its very easy to make big claims of leaving the house with your beloved or not giving a damn about the money and happily living in the streets, but in reality which parent will let their daughter marry into a family that doesn't want her to do anything with their wealth? And how can one be sure Tarun wont leave her or a certain fatigue may not set into their marriage a few years down the line resulting in a fall out? Things can always change and one has to plan everything keeping in mind all possibilities. Living in a romantic world where no one leaves anyone, the river of love never dries up or betrayals don't take place isn't the best way to go. Plus, Saloni will always have her kid to take care of.
Not sure if the mother is doing this completely out of love for her daughter or anything else but a complete omission from the family property wont be accepted by anyone.

^Actually when Laila was demanding or taking money from Tarun, it didn't really seem like she was trying to secure her daughter's future. Felt like she's taking the money out of her own greed and trying to take advantage of the situation.

But I agree with the comments above. Love and money both have their place in life, the absence of former cannot be fulfilled by latter and vice-versa.

By the way, when I had first read about this show I thought that the conflict would be because Laila would in love with her daughter's husband. But if she just wanted to make a relation with Anant for his name and money then even being her in-law can work the same way. Being the nice man he is, he obviously won't say no to providing her financial help. It's another thing if Ahana doesn't let her Mommy dearest have her way with her hubby šŸ˜†

@BOLD - I think that's the way it will go forward. Initially, Laila will be shocked and furious when Anant will make his choice known. And can we blame her? She clearly is trying to put in a lot of efforts to somehow get this man šŸ˜†
So maybe she will lash out, make a scene, point out the age difference, log kya kahenge and blah blah. After some contemplation, the idea may strike her to extract money from Anant through Ahana. But as you said, I am not very sure if Ahana will let Laila have her way. After all for Ahana, the reason for the marriage will be to not let Laila get what she wants. So I guess Laila is in for some tough luck šŸ˜†

I have seen her too in her previous shows like Baat Ban Jaaye, Dastaan and she was really good. I heard Astitva was a landmark show in her career. Unfortunately didn't see that. She is doing a good job as Laila Raichand and am finding her character to be despicable and she is doing a convincing job as the quintessential gold digging man eater.

I am kind of rooting for laila...in the flashback they showed laila screaming to ahana's father that she didn't want this family, their daughters;that all of it was because he wanted it...did ahana ever think or try to find out if her father was indeed bit of a selfish husband(even if unintentionally)...I don't like ahana judging laila either...what is her problem if laila wants a comfortable position for herself? what do the 2 sisters do anyway?to help financially or even be financially independent?

Besides what do we know about love? How can you truly 100% believe that this person who is not related to you will never abandon you? People change and even the greatest lovers become cheaters or abusers. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

true very true.

Of course, the romantic part of me says too, screw the money.. Go earn your own money and be independent.. But cutting off your daughter in law 100% seems too much..

love can't buy money
money can't buy love

both are needed but not too much
normal people who are middle class do have money n love.
they earn for their living, at least for good life.

in countries where u know, marrying someone means, buy new home, don't have money, rent some place, do some job, even a small one, but do something n earn a good living. be on your own, where none can throw u out of your home.
