Chapter 1:
The Curious case of Missing Bahus..
It was a very calm Friday and the oberoi household was unusually silent. People were in their own rooms and the living hall had no one. Shivaay had a series of meetings scheduled for the day but everything got cancelled at the last moment due to an impending change in contract. He was left out with no appointments for the day and returned home earlier to spend some intimate moment with his wife. Ever since they became one, he had been longing for her proximity day and night but his ever continuous work kept him occupied and he had to stay away from his Anika. He called her in anticipation of their impending romance. She picked up the call and there was a lot of noise behind.
"Anika.. Kahan hai tu..? Bahar gaye ho?"
"Haan Shivaay, main naa kuch zaroori kaam ke liye bahaar aayi hoon, main baad mein call karti hoon" She wasn't even aware of her husband's impatient state.
"Arrey.. ruk ruk.. abhi ghar nahi aa sakthi ho kya.. Kounsa important kaam hai.. batao naa mujhe?"
"Wo main ghar aake batati hoon naa..Shivaay" she was speaking in haste
"Kab aaoge Anika.. I am waiting for you" His voice was longing for her presence.
Anika understood his billuji wala voice. She smiled to herself. "Main naa jaldi wapas aaongi.. kaam khatam hote hue.. teek hai.. Aap meri cute si billuji hain naa.. toda intezaar kijiye.Teek hai Shivaay" She tried to soothe her impatient husband.
"Ok.." Shivaay heaved a huge sigh and cut the call.
Looks like no one is in the house, he has to stay alone the entire day. He went around to check if any of his brothers are present. He crossed Rudra's room, it was empty. Omkaara's room door was shut so he thought may be Gauri is inside alone doing something. He was strolling around the corridor when he found Omkaara walking towards his room. Shivaay's face brightened up.
"Om, tu aagaya..?"
"Haan shivaay, tu kya kar raha hai..? Meetings nahi kya?
"Sab cancel hogayi..issliye am home, so early. Anika bhi ghar par nahi hai.. isliye I got bored. I was checking you and Rudra. Rudra is out. Tumhaari room bhi closed tha.. May be Gauri is inside.."
"Mmm.. " Omkaara was speaking with Shivaay and opened his room. It was empty too.
"Gauri is not inside Shivaay.. Lagta hai bahar gayi hui hai.". He was thoughtful.
They were speaking with each other in Omkaara's room, just then Rudra walked in.
"Arey bhai.. aap dono yahan.. Lagta hai aap dono ki koi kaam hi nahi hain, aaj?" Rudra was in his own antic mode. "Aap log sumo ko kahin dekha hai kya.. main 1 ghante se call kar raha hoon, cut kar rahi hai ya phir pick nahi kar rahi hai.. " He was irritated that saumya wasn't responding.
"Kyun, aap log ke beech kuch jhagde hue??"
"Nahi" Rudra was trying to refuse the statement. Inside his heart he knew that his endless questions to her this morning, irked her so much that she is not picking up his call in anger.
"O, Chulbul Bhabhi kahan hai?"
"Pata nahi.. ghar par nahi hai.. Call karta hoon.. wait.." Omkaara dialed Gauri's number.
Gauri picked up the call almost after a full ring. "Omkaara ji.. boliye" There were lot of noise at the background that of children shouting when she was speaking.
"Gauri. .kahan ho tum.. Bahar ho?"
"Haan.. main na kuch zaroori kaam ki wajah se bahar hoon.. ghar pe aake baat karti hoon.." She cut the call abruptly.
"Areey Gauri Gauri.." Omkaara's face fell
The brothers were watching his face. Rudra thought something must have happened.
"O, kya hua.. itna irritated kyun lag rahe ho?"
Omkaara was trying to hide his feelings. He knew she was little upset with him because of what happened in the night. She wanted to talk to him about something so important but he was so engrossed in his work in the workshop that he failed to look at her also properly. He could remember her face fell and she went away in a jiffy. He tried to pacify her in the morning but she was in no mood to listen. She is still angry on him, may be.
"nahi.. bahut noise tha background mein.. I couldn't hear her properly. She didn't say where she is.. just said some zaroori kaam.."
Shivaay was curious now.. "What she also said the same thing?"
O: "Matlab Bhabhi bhi bahar gayi.. ?"
S: "Haan anika bhi aise hi kuch bol rahi thi.. Mujhe lagta hai.. yeh teeno ek saath hai.. Wait main check kartha hoon"
He opened his location tracker which had everyone's numbers for safety purpose. As shivaay suspected, all three of their numbers were showing same location.. "Savithri Devi Home"
ShivOmRu were exchanging thoughtful glances.
R: "Yeh kuch orphanage types lagta hain"
Shivaay got petrified at the word "Orphanage??!!??". They were just done with all the ordeals in the life and were starting afresh. The very fact of Anika in an orphanage again alleviated Shivaay's inner fears. OmRu understood what was going on in his mind and decided to calm him down.
"Shivaay bas kuch kaam hoga.. aur kuch nahi hoga.." Om tried to explain his Bhabhi might have been out on some work. Shivaay wasn't convinced and decided to head straight to the orphanage. OmRu accompanied him and in matter of minutes the three were nearing the "Savithri Home only to get the surprise of their lives. They reached the orphanage but couldn't meet the organizer. While they were looking around, Rudra noticed Saumya talking to one of the woman-incharge of the orphanage.
"Sumo" he exclaimed and showed his brothers.
Omkaara knew Gauri was also in the same location, and they were going near to where saumya was talking. Just few steps ahead Gauri were playing circle rhymes, with little children clinging to her dupatta.. Brothers exchanged surprised glances at one another.
S: "OmRu, Let us not tell them we are here.. we will find out what they are upto?"
Om rejected this idea.. "Shivaay it will not look good.. hum nazar rakh rahe hai kya? ..teeno pe?..it wont look good"
Rudra accepted this idea.. "Arey O, chup karna.. Shivaay bhaiyya ki idea sahi hai.. Hum pata karte hai.. yeh teen deviyan yahan karti kya hai.. Hum unpe shak thodi kar rahe..?
They decided to check what their wives were upto.
Anika was talking to home organizer and a contractor. She was bargaining with him to provide some service to the home for less than 500rs. She went on bargaining in a full flow until that guy really budged. She gave a victorious smile. She went on to check the requirements given to her by the home organizer and was asking them lot of questions. Shivaay laughed at her.
"Dekho mere biwi ko. Uski haat ki kangan 2 crore ki hai.. aur yeh yahaan 500 rs ke liye 500 minutes bargain kar rahi hai. Bechara contractor" He was laughing at his crazy wifey.
OmRu were laughing at their bhabhi's bargaining skills too. Om suddenly became thoughtful. He had been married to Gauri for so long, never did he present or gave any gift to her. He felt ashamed about himself for not having thought about this. After all she deserved much love for what all she had to go through because of him. Just when Anika was bargaining, Gauri came running inside with bacha party.
The children were now playing on their own and Gauri was talking to one of the little girls..
"Didi..aap bahut sundar ho.." She smiled on the compliment given by the little girl.
"Ji aap bhi bahut sundar ho.." She pinched the nose of the girl.
For no reason, Omkaara felt happy at the moment.
The girl was tugging her hair behind her ears just then Gauri noticed burn marks in her hands..
"Yeh kya hai.. chutki.."
"Yeh.. meri papa ne daala hai.. Wo naa daaru peeke ghar aate the.. maa se paisa mangthe the.. nahi hai to aise karthe the.".
Gauri felt very bad for the girl and hugged her. "Chinta mat kar.. dobara aisa nahi hoga.. tu yahan raho.. ghar mat jao.."
"Par aise kaise didi.. yahan ki log humhe sirf 5 din rakthe hain.. aur rakhne ke liye tayyar nahin.."
"Main baat karti hoon use.. tum yahin rahogi.. ghar nahi jaaogi tab tak tumhaari papa sudarenge"..
Gauri caressed her hair.. "Meri number yahan Savithri madam ki paas hain. agar aise dobara hogaya naa.. mujhe call kar dena.. ya phir madam ko bata dena.. wo mujhe bata degi.. teek hai.. dobara nahi hoga aisa chutki.. Didi par barosa hain naa?"
"Didi aap bahut ache ho.." she hugged Gauri.
All of the brothers watching this had a warm and satisfactory smile. Omkaara couldn't help adore his wife's different faces. She has one for all.. He has witnessed her many faces, crazy, filmy, devoted, helping, caring but this charitable face is very new to him and he loved it.
They heard soumya's voice near the next room and brothers were peeping inside to see saumya teaching math to the children. Rudra smiled in pride. "Meri sumo teacher ban gayi" The brothers also laughed with him..
They all sneaked away into the car since they saw all three of them coming out speaking with the organizers. While anika was taking account of the facilities required regarding the infrastructure, Gauri was talking to the food incharge about some food arrangements and requirements for the children and sanitation. Saumya was talking to one of the teachers about the curriculum and she was checking how qualified they are. The brothers were sitting inside the car, parked slightly inside so that they could hear absolutely clear what all are talking. After a while, all three headed home in the same car driven by Saumya. Little did they know that their husbands were following them.
When they reached oberoi Mansion, a pandit ji was sitting in the living hall. Pinky, Jhanvi and Daadi were all listening to him with dedication. When they saw all the bahus entering together, daadi signaled them to get his ashirvaad. They got ashirvaad from the pandit ji and were standing near daadi.. Just then all three brothers entered together. The co-sisters were surprised to see them coming together, since all of them went in each direction in the morning. Pandit ji told something to daadi and daadi took him to the mandir inside the mansion. She called all the daughter in-laws for something important and restrained the men in the living room.
After pandit ji was gone, they found all three women sneaking inside Shivaay's room. Their curiosity grew even more..
