What I never understood is how advertisers by media ever became the means of measuring a shows popularity. Ratings points don't actually measure a shows popularity, they measure the viewership in a time slot. So the ratings points don't actually reflect popularity but how the show compares to other media on television during that time frame. 1

Also Target rating points are completely different than gross rating points. Gross rating points measure the entire audience percentiles. 2 Target Rating Points are based on percentiles of a very narrow target sample. That is the share of the target audience the advertisers find relevant. 3 That is why TRP is so relevant to channels, TRP is where the money is. The GRP maybe completely different, but it is TRP that matters. Lets not forget INTAM TRP measures only the original air share in India, not repeats or global broadcasts.

So if you are an advertiser trying to choose which show to advertise on in the 7-8 viewing hour, TRP is your best bet. However, if you want a much more indepth analysis on popularity and other sociological factors, you might want to consider demographics, viewership patterns, viewership across different countries.

I'm not saying that DID Doubles is not more popular than the previous versions. I'm just saying that none of us here on the forum have conducted exhaustive research to make that statement. We can only pass opinions, perceptions and how we interpret ratings points.

PS: My citations work.

😛 Yes exactly statements to the effect that Terrence is better then Geeta or Geeta is better then Terrence etc are just opinions......Statements such as Terrence brought something special to DID and DID was successful only because of him etc are also just that mere opinions...........Survival of very few things in this world depends on the presence of a particular peson, and we can clearly see that DID is not one of those things.........DID will thrive with any mentors so long as the quality of the contestants is good........DID 1 and DID 2 along with DID Doubles is successful not because of any mentor but ONLY because of the quality of the product it puts forth......😛

But Ankit, you have an alarming track record of treating opinions like facts. Not only do you treat them like facts, you claim to have the miraculous ability to disprove opinions. Not only do you claim to disprove them, you essentially stake claim that people cannot have them because it is false. Not only don't you let other have opinions, you pass on your opinions as true and factual.

Some people will like Terence more than others.
Some people will feel Geeta is weaker than others.
Some people will always feel DID Doubles is a lesser show.

We stop taking people's likes and dislikes so seriously in pre-school. Learn to live with differences.

Who's stopping others from having opinions? Everyone is entitled to opinions. Just like some feel Geeta is weaker then others, some feel that Terrence was weaker then others and him NOT being in DID Doubles has helped DID Doubles in multitude of ways.........Many people (according to the high ratings) feel that DID Doubles is just as good if not better then DID 1 and DID 2. 😛 We also learnt in preschool that just because some of us like something doesn't necessarily mean others will like it too.......Just because some people like Terrence doesn't mean most people like him or can't watch a dance show without him in it.........Also learnt in 1st grade actually that blind worship of any human being is bound to lead to disaster.....😛

No, I didnt mean about your post, I do believe you posted from a proper source for it. What I meant is that I dont believe their numbers, as it shows the DID2 show had a decline from its earlier weeks, when in fact I felt it was gaining more popularity.. So the procedure on which the stats have been gathered doesnt look correct.. And when they choose just a handful of viewers from the millions, it cannot be the majority's voice. The folks they chose might have stopped watching DID2, but that doesnt mean many new viewers have started watching that show at the time...

Well like i said in my other post if you would rather believe in your own personal view about the ratings rather than those that are published on weekly basis. Then well there is nothing more i can say.But these are the ratings which are published publicaly and decide whether the show is a success or not.And these ratings are taken out by experienced companies who are the professionals in this field.I think they would know much more about the correct procedure for taking out the ratings

When the ratings are done by companies who can be bought with money by the rich channels, it will not show the correct numbers. Plus the process and the selected pool of viewers do matter. Anyway it doesnt matter to me, as I have said many times, I dont watch any shows based on the ratings. If that mattered to me, I shoud be watching Pavitra Rishta, the #1 show in the ratings!!
Anyway, I will watch both DID and CDD as long as I want to, nothing is gonna stop me unless the shows are stopped by the channels. If many of us had stopped watching DID, we wouldnt have to be here in this forum either..

😃 oh so Zee is buying the high ratings for it's shows.....so when Big Boss (which is on the same channel as CDD) was doing well in ratings and beating Sa Re GA Ma on Zee that was on merit but now that DID Doubles is hadily demolishing CDD in ratings it's because the rich Zee channel is buying high ratings for it.........interesting....😃

^^ No need to put words in my mouth, I can talk for myself. Where did I say the name of any channel in my post? I said what I had read in some articles about TAM companies. I dont watch most of the shows in all these channels, so who cares who does best in ratings. I preferred SRGMP over other Hindi music reality shows during its time!
