Also Target rating points are completely different than gross rating points. Gross rating points measure the entire audience percentiles. 2 Target Rating Points are based on percentiles of a very narrow target sample. That is the share of the target audience the advertisers find relevant. 3 That is why TRP is so relevant to channels, TRP is where the money is. The GRP maybe completely different, but it is TRP that matters. Lets not forget INTAM TRP measures only the original air share in India, not repeats or global broadcasts.
So if you are an advertiser trying to choose which show to advertise on in the 7-8 viewing hour, TRP is your best bet. However, if you want a much more indepth analysis on popularity and other sociological factors, you might want to consider demographics, viewership patterns, viewership across different countries.
I'm not saying that DID Doubles is not more popular than the previous versions. I'm just saying that none of us here on the forum have conducted exhaustive research to make that statement. We can only pass opinions, perceptions and how we interpret ratings points.
