My personal opinion is that Divyanka looked a little mature to play a very young and freshly in love Parvati. Please do not come after me with brickbats!!! That does not mean she is not pretty or a good actress. Also she has had a lot of exposure on tv in recent shows.
I am guessing that is a reason. But once again, all of this is only speculation. And all will be forgotten if the new girl can act well and match up to Mohit and give some more memorable tv.

I dont know of a jaya but a vijaya is mentioned-she is supposed to inform Parvati about Shiva beheading Ganapati...

ive read some stories where a Vijaya is supposed to be informing Sati about Dakshas yagya as well!

i don't think divyanka or any actress which was in da list in da TB article would refuse such a gr8 and challenging role.Except 4 suhasi,none of da actresses hv any serials now.

i guess da makers wanted a young and not so famous gal 4 dis role dat's why dey chose sonarika.i am sure sonarika will try her best in performing such a difficult role.even though i hv not seen her previous show,i can still trust da cvs as till now dey hv been perfect in casting.

Has anyone actually watched TDSM? I watched a few episodes but Sonarika was so softly spoken. I don't know if they chose her because she is not popular so people would be able to see her as 'Parvati' rather than say if someone like Sanaya Irani did the role then you would instantly think Gunjan or Khushi? Maybe that's why PH went for her? Also the main focus was to be on Mohit no? He is Mahadev so as long as Sonarika can match him and act well then there should be much problem :)
