Guyz I am also very very sad that Mouni is leaving the show, and I am not favouring Sonarika but we must give her a chance. Mouni isn't being replaced. I am really disappointed wid the CVs that they didn't pay heed to our words. I didn't like Sonarika in TDSM one bit but I will not judge Sonarika right now. Let's see how she potrays the character of Parvati and then decide her capability.
I recall discussing this in the Mytho forum @ the time. The speculation was that if it's only going to be about Sati, it would have been pretty short lived. It would have started when it did, and now, it'd have been over. And had that been the case, people here would have been clamoring either for an extension, or for a sequel. As it is, the CVs did amazingly well to make it last as long as it did - normally it would just have been a few weeks.
Honestly, unlike most viewers, I didn't follow the show as I wasn't too impressed by the serial being focussed on Mahadev's romance and his eyelocks w/ Sati - this ain't Geet 😆 I would have preferred it if Mahadev's other adventures had been shown. Some of it would have needed just enough research to demonstrate that it happened in the Satya Yuga and not in the timeframe of Parvati. For instance, the story about how Rishi Markandeya became immortal when he was supposed to die @ 16 - it was Mahadev who appeared & attacked Yamaraj, and forced him to retreat. Such small, but significant events would have enhanced the devotional touch.
Also, given how the serial is, the devasura sangrams should have been highlighted more, and figured somewhat in the plans. If it's concluded that Indra fought Vritra in the pre-Parvati era, show it. Similarly for anythng Mahadev might have done b4 the birth of Sati.
Given the nature of Sati's history - that she died and was reborn as Parvati, it's unreasonable to expect the same actress to play her, when in fact, they were 2 completely different people. As it is, the theory of rebirth has common souls, but different bodies. But going forward, most of the characters are immortal (aside from the poor asuras and rakshashas) so it will be important as to who gets selected in which role, since there'll be no second chances (save for mid serial actor changes, which is really annoying).
This serial, given its good execution so far, should last a while, which is great, since there ain't too many serials out there about Mahadev. There are plenty of material all over the place, not just Shiva Puranas that they can use - the birth of Kartikeya & war w/ Tarakasura, the Tripura cities, the birth of Ganesh and Parvati's retaliation to his beheading, the samudra manthan, Mahadev & Parashurama, His dealings w/ Ravana (here, they'd get a chance to show some of Ravana's pre-Ramayan history as described in Uttarkand), then his dealings w/ Rama, then his dealings w/ Krishna, including boons he granted to Shalva, Jayadrath, Arjun, et al. I doubt they'll show the battle b/w Shiva & Krishna over Banasura, which Shiva lost.
Incidentally, does anyone know what is the last known story about Shiva in any of the shastras?
