Mehek's POV
As she parked her car and hurriedly got out and barged in her home, shopping bags completely forgotten in haste. One of the many servants asked her something, her mind too busy thinking...thinking about him to register the words as she simply nodded and the servant disappeared to fetch the bags. For him she was, is and probably will always be his Mehek Miranda Burman. She had seen him, bruised and bloodied amidst the crowd, standing away from his sight as one of the spectators. He had been taking her name fighting to stay conscious, looking towards where she had been few minutes before near her car. He had seen her.
She made her way towards the recliner near the window And sat on it as if someone has taken all her strength away.
"Kaash tumne meri baat maani hoti Dev...hum yaha se dur chale jaate...kahi durr".
Her supposedly last words echoed in her mind. The words after which there was a scuffle, her dead body and hard time for Dev to prove his innocence. All the while she waited in shadows for dust to clear her time to emerge as a phoenix from the ashes.
What had happened that had all been planned so methodically, the ones who knew too much were taken care off. How a good swimmer drowned, had been labelled as an accident. Forensics to everyone had been taken care off by them.
Now that she thought about it her sole aim had been to distract the head of security by merely befriending him while gathering as much information as possible for a successful assassination of Swamiji. All had been going great according to plan she had befriended him, until a fateful day he had proposed her. She couldn't say no. Being close to him meant being close to the target. But as the days passed she had started to feel for him. Had started to love him. When the day to assassinate Swamiji had arrived she had deliberately called him, minutes before to save him. She knew he had been a pawn in achieving the goal but that didn't meant she would sacrifice him.
She wanted to leave with him, away from this place to start a new life. After Swamiji's death he became a different person with a obsession of finding his killers, she pleaded to him to leave everything behind and start over. She kept on telling him he didn't have to prove anything to anyone because she knew he was innocent, had been innocent all along. He kept on digging for answers and when he proved to the world his innocence, she couldn't be with him anymore. Being with him meant threat to his life.
Sighing She looked away from where she had been staring at only to coming into reality and hearing the voice of Mr. Sahay
"Mehek mar chuki he Dev" she spoke as if speaking to him. Yes, Mehek is dead and now she's Vaani Sahay wife of a criminal psychologist.
"Tum mujhe doondhte hue zaroor aaoge Dev" she thought before going to meet Mr. Sahay.
