Anyway that was too much of my blabbering! Here's the next part. Oh and I'd like to mention this whole plot came to my mind when I was listening to Life After You by Chris Daughtry. So I couldnt do the injustice of not including it here.
CONFESSING TO THE NIGHT
(Part four)
With a million feelings lacerating her heart like showering pieces of glass, her shaky foot touched the cold, dark road stretching out eternally before her. As she hesitated with the next step, she turned behind to look at the palace whose gate she was standing at-her home, that sheltered every insignificant details of her life, the house that woke up to his smiling face and retired to sleep with it. But all that remained of it now was a traumatising memoir of the only blissful and carefree moments her life had fetched her, the moments that could never be relived-the moments she had shared with him. Her heart clenched further at the thought. She had nothing left of her to live at the place that ceaselessly reminded her of him. She could not live with the thought of feeling him, yet being out of reach from him. The feelings of her breaking heart seemed to choke her. She took a few more steps hastily, wishing to be away from anything that declared its connection to him. The freezing wind bit at her skin as she stood in the middle of the dark, deserted road, every living creature engulfed by slumber at the passive hour of midnight. The faint moonlight was all she had to guide her legs.
Drawings a deep breath she trudged forward, her pace gradually increasing until she found herself running under the roof of the dark, starless night. She wanted to be like the wind gushing round her, carefree and directionless. Silent tears escaped her eyes, unhindered.
Ten miles from town and I just broke down
Spittin' out smoke on the side of the road
I'm out here alone just tryin' to get home
To tell you I was wrong but you already know
Believe me I wont stop at nothin'
To see you so I've started runnin'
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter
As long as I'm laughin' with you
I'm thinkin' that all that still matters is love ever after
After the life we've been through
'Cause I know there's no life after you.
She wiped the hot streak of tears burning her cheeks. One chance is what she yearned for. 'Was it such big a demand?' she threw at the darkness hemming her in. Its silence echoed the reply her heart supplied readily. Yes, it was a big demand. Too big to be fulfilled. She shut her eyes, coming to a halt as more tears tried to make their way out.
"Princess-"
It was a soft appeal, barely audible but seemed to holler in her ears nonetheless. Her eyes jerked open and her breathing hitched as she sie took in the person standing before her. That same build, those same hair, that same face. It was him. His eyes were dazzling against the dark like a sparkling pool, his flawless face seemed to be carved out of rare marble, set ablaze by the irradiance of the moon. His lips curved to form a smile, setting a rush of hormones through her body. She felt a weight being lifted off her heart as she finally saw the look on his face that she hankered after. Her nerves sent hasty impulses throughout her body making her plod towards him. Words died in her mouth as she stood bemused, her eyes drinking every inch of his god-like face.
Smiling fron ear to ear amidst her tears, she lifted her hand up to touch his face anticipating the surge of electricity through her skin. But none came. A slight panic made its way upto her as she raised the other hand to hug him. All she grabbed was air. She stared in shock as the figure before her kept fading before disappearing into thin air. She felt the last left shred of life being snatched away. She could not believe her mind could play such a ruthless trick with her. She sagged down unable to decipher what to do. Helplessness and misery closed in upon her pushing her to a cramped hole, leaving her to suffocate. No more tears oozed out of her eyes. She was drained. She looked up at the moon only to feel its brightness mock her, laugh at her dark, dismal life. She rose up, determined to be away from the fateful place her mind chose to hallucinate.-to be continued in the next post.
Sorry! I know that was short but I've to rush for my tuitions right now. I'll continue once I return home!
