Aarushi murder plot aired despite family requests

Manu Sharma NDTV

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 (Mumbai)

Despite a request from the I&B Ministry and the Talwar family, Aarushi Talwar murder case is still being used as a plot for a popular soap by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.

But even as the ministry decides to take up the matter with Balaji Telefilms, critics say that a clever way of weaving real life into drama may manage to keep Ekta out of trouble just yet.

A couple of weeks back, Nupur Talwar had approached the Commission for protection of child rights to get Star TV not to use the her daughter's murder case as a plot in the serial Kahani Ghar Ghar ki.

But this week, an episode was aired with a twist in the storyline but with similarities to the case. Though the storyline was not as obvious as the original promos.

Viewers have also strongly reacted to this. ''Its extremely distasteful and obviously we could immediately make out that this was the Aarushi murder case. The girl even looked like her. We are not fools you know,'' said one viewer.

But Star TV denies this and the spokesperson said, ''It is absolutely not true that the storyline is based on the Aarushi case.''

In fact after the telecast, the I&B ministry is planning to write to Ekta Kapoor again, something they have already requested before but have no legal teeth to implement on them.

I&B Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi said, ''This is very unfortunate but I will write to Ekta Kapoor.''

Critics argue that imagination does not need a copyright, so will this create problems for Balaji?

Komal Nahata, a media critic said, ''There is nothing wrong with what Ekta has done. In fact she has been smart by using a very sketchy outline of the Aarushi case in the serial.''

But more speculation on the subject only means more intrusion into a little girl's life, in what has already become a media circus.

Kekta Kapoor's decision to exploit the unfortunate Aarushi Hemraj murders in her serial is appalling. Her insensitivity towards the plight and grief of the parents and total disregard for the late Aarushi and Hemraj confirms that her establishment lives by one rule....make money no matter what!!!

Kekta is also clearly sending a message that she has already tried the case in her frigging "creative boardroom." She has become the Judge and Jury on her brainless world of robotic men and Stepford women.

Kekta should rename her production house from Balaji Telefilms to Exploiting Telefilms. Balaji Telefilms is totally inappropriate since she is dragging Balaji's name through the gutter with her company's real core values....unethical, selfish and opportunistic.

Wife swap twist in Aarushi case

Did she? Nupur Talwar

A wife-swapping racket exposed in the
Capital earlier this year has added yet another dimension to the twin murder of the Noida schoolgirl Aarushi Talwar and her domestic help Hemraj, which for long has been suspected as having links to a group sex racket.

According to Delhi policeofficials, the racket was uncovered in February this year when the Preet Vihar police registered the complaint of a woman that her husband and father-in-law were trying to force her into wife-swapping.

The phone call records scrutinised in the case led the cops to home in on Sector 25 of Noida, the Talwar neighbourhood.

The startling revelation was corroborated by a man living in the society also. "The Talwar family was involved in some sort of club. Most neighbours knew that something fishy is going on in their house but everyone preferred to keep a distance from the Talwars," a neighbour said.

However, the CBI was non-committal on the theory.

The official further said that there were almost 25 couples in the club and they used to meet frequently in and around Delhi.

He said whenever such meetings happened the Talwars kept Arushi locked inside her room. "That happened only when the members of the club met at Talwar's residence. But Hemraj knew everything and shared the details with Arushi," said the officer.

The kingpin

"The kingpin of the club is a industrialist of Noida and he selected only high-profile members in collusion with Talwar," said the officer.

The name of the industrialist has already appeared in the media and attempts to contact him failed as he has been staying in Singapore for last 15 days.

Another twist in the tale came in the case which also indicates the possibility of killers being hired to eliminate the threat of Arushi and Hemraj with the information that Hemraj had called up a Dubai number just a night before the murder. "That night the industrialist too was in Dubai though it is still not clear whether Hemraj called him or someone else," said the officer.

The industrialist returned to India a day or two after the murder took place but left for Singapore as soon as his name cropped up in the media.

Why doesn't the C.B.I. simply quit? Between the inept Noida and the U.P. police and their half baked theories, and the C.B.I. they have trashed this family's name and reputation every which way possible. Seems to me the only thing left now is to release nude pictures of the parents to the media. This whole investigation is being conducted by sick and perverted minds.

what Ekta Kapoor has done is so digusting . Inspite of the plee by the grieving mother of an only child , how could she use the case to make an interesting story and get money out of it ! I have always read about her attitude and bosiness but today I can see what she truly is ! An inhuman brat !

Aarushi murder a blind case: CBI

Ghaziabad, June 26: Rajesh Talwar, an accused in the Noida double murder case, will continue to remain in jail as a sessions court on Thursday rejected his bail application after CBI claimed that it had reasonable grounds to suspect his involvement.

Rejecting the bail application, District and Sessions Judge Narender Kumar Jain said Talwar would continue to be in the judicial custody. He was arrested on May 23 by Noida police for allegedly murdering his 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

The case was later transferred to CBI which carried out a custodial interrogation of Talwar, a dentist by profession.

Arguing on behalf of Talwar, his counsel Satish Tamta stated before the court that nothing incriminating was found against his client by the CBI, which continued to remain inconsistent about his involvement in the case.

Countering the bail application, CBI counsel AK Saini, while maintaining it continued to be a blind murder case, contended that there was reasonable ground to believe that Talwar was involved in the crime.

Earlier, Talwar's counsel said there is no evidence with the CBI against him till date, except for a statement taken by the CBI officials under 161 Criminal Procedure Code whereby he would be helping the probe agency in finding out the evidence in the crime.

Tamta pointed out that the statement given before the investigators was not admissible in law.

While making it clear that Talwar would continue to cooperate in the case, the defence lawyer even highlighted the Talwar family's service in the field of medicine and said he was from an illustrious family and would work along with the CBI in finding out the culprit besides joining any further scientific tests suggested by the probe agency.

Saini stated before the court that it was mentioned in the FIR that Talwar, on being asked about Hemraj, had said "Hemraj mera naukar tha" (he was my servant).

"In his sub-conscious mind he (Talwar) knew that Hemraj was not alive," Saini contended, prompting Tamta to raise objection that he was playing with the words.

The CBI prosecutor questioned as to how was it possible that he or his wife could not have heard the screams of their daughter when they were just five feet away from the scene of crime.

The CBI counsel also informed the court that holding Krishna as an accused did not mean that Talwar had moved out of the realm of suspicion in the case.

"There is reasonable ground to believe that he is involved in the crime. The conspiracy angle is yet to be probed," the counsel said.

Countering the defence lawyer's argument about the family background of Talwar, Saini said standing of a person cannot be a sufficient ground to allow him get bail and added that the double murder case continued to be blind and the agency should be given time to file chargesheet.

He also said Talwar had refused to identify the body of Hemraj to which the defence counsel intervened and said his client was under shock and that he had stated that clothes on the body gave an impression that it was that of Hemraj.

Since the body was disfigured, Talwar had asked the police to get his son-in-law from the neighbouring locality to identify him, Tamta contended.

Meanwhile, CBI has arrested five persons in connection of the murders for investigation including a cyber cafe owner. The cyber cafe is located in Noida Sector 12.

This is really absurd. The C.B.I.'s argument against Dr. Talwar's bail petition is based on semantics, and the Judge bought it! Why don't they just hang Dr. Talwar rather than continuing this torture. Obviously the investigation is a sham and going nowhere.

Next is the C.B.I. going to oppose Krishna's bail application too? Wonder in which sentence he screwed up the tense, and graduated to being a prime suspect? Mr. Saini don't bother answering, these are mere rhetorical questions!!

Revenge?

TIGHT-LIPPED: Dr Nupur Talwar visited Dasna Jail, Gaziabad, to meet her husband Dr Rajesh Talwar File Pic

A desire for revenge, and not money, prompted Krishna to kill Aarushi, investigators now believe.

Krishna allegedly wanted to wipe out the entire Talwar family dentist Rajesh, his wife Nupur, and daughter Aarushi. His plans went awry because the doctor's room was locked from the inside. Krishna and his accomplice Rajkumar only managed to kill Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj. Krishna, who used to work as a compounder at Dr Talwar's dental clinic, felt slighted that the dentist had given him a scolding in the presence of a patient a couple of days before the murders, a source told MiD DAY.

Krishna reportedly made some mistakes during a surgical procedure Dr Talwar was performing, and the patient developed serious complications.

Dr Talwar, known for his short temper, shouted at Krishna and threatened to sack him.

Krishna reportedly decided to kill everyone in Dr Talwar's family to avenge this "humiliation".

Soon after the incident, Krishna invited his friends Rajkumar, Shambhu and Hemraj for a drink.

Krishna told them what had happened and sought their help to avenge the "humiliation".

What went wrong?

A drunk Rajkumar, domestic help at Dr Anita Durrani's, and Krishna then went up to Dr Talwar's house with Rajkumar. They allegedly tried to force themselves on her, and Aarushi resisted.

They then allegedly slit her throat with a khukri. Krishna said the blow was so hard it had ripped her neck apart.

A petrified Hemraj, who had witnessed the murder, began to run towards the terrace. Sensing that Hemraj would tell all, Krishna and Rajkumar allegedly chased him and hacked him to death.

They then tried to enter Dr Talwar's room but it was locked from the inside.

Doc's safety precaution could have saved Aarushi

Dr Talwar usually locked Aarushi's room from the outside since he did not trust his servants.

On the day she was murdered, that part of his daily routine had slipped his mind.
Dr Talwar reportedly told investigators he had popped some sleeping pills and had a couple of drinks before going to bed, which is why he didn't hear the commotion.

Aarushi was born after IVF and years of prayers

Aarushi is the couple's only child and was born five years after they were married.

"She was born through IVF and we prayed a lot to get this child. Why would we kill her?"
Nupur Talwar reportedly told investigators.

Psychological tests confused investigators

Tests conducted on Dr Talwar are general in nature, and are usually done to help those with psychological problems such as alcoholism and stress.

Dr Talwar said conflicting things during the tests, which left the sleuths uncertain about what line of investigation to take

Aarushi murder: Another servant arrested
Saturday June 28 2008 00:00 IST

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)on Friday arrested Raj Kumar, the servant of a doctor friend of dentist Rajesh Talwar, who has been jailed for the alleged murder of his teenaged daughter Aarushi Talwar and her family's domestic help.

Raj Kumar, who worked for Anita Durani, also a dentist, was arrested after the CBI recovered a blood-stained T-shirt from the room he lived in.

This is the third arrest in the case, which continues to hog the headlines and choke the airwaves a month-and-half after the sensational double murders in the upscale Jal Vayu Vihar neighbourhood in suburban Noida.

"Raj Kumar was detained for interrogation but he was arrested today (Friday) after forensic examination confirmed that the T-shirt (that was recovered June 13) had blood stains of human origin," CBI joint director Arun Kumar told reporters here.

These stains will now be matched with those picked up from the crime scene to see whether they match with any of the victims.

Meanwhile, Krishna, a medical assistant of Rajesh Talwar, was Friday sent to jail till July 11. He was produced before a special CBI court in Ghaziabad after his six-day remand ended on Friday.

On Friday morning, a CBI team led by Arun Kumar went to the Talwar's residence with Krishna in an attempt to recreate the sequence of events on the night of the murder.

"Krishna was taken to the crime scene to recreate the sequence of events," a CBI official said, requesting anonymity.

Aarushi, 14, was found dead in her apartment May 16. The Noida police initially named missing domestic help Hemraj as the prime suspect and even sent out teams to trace him out but had to eat humble pie after his body was found on the terrace of the house the next day.

The Noida police arrested Talwar May 23 for the twin murders. The CBI took over the case June 1 after a public outcry over the shoddy manner in which the Noida had conducted the investigations.

The CBI arrested Krishna June 13.

The CBI is yet to zero in on the motive for the crime despite interrogating a number of people and submitting Rajesh Talwar, his wife Nupur and the Durani couple to lie detector tests.
